SynthEdit plug-ins soon on Mac

The news stayed quite confidential, yet it’s a major change that SynthEdit v1.2 is bringing: 64-bit, VST 3 and Mac compatibility!

SynthEdit is a modular development platform that allows anyone to visually program instrument and effect plug-ins. Completed with an SDK, it was only able to output 32-bit VST plug-ins for Windows. Until now, for in this new 1.2 version, which is still in Alpha stage but already available for download, you are now able to develop VST 3 plug-ins for Windows and Mac OS X 64-bit (but no Audio Unit).

There are still some restrictions, the first is that the installer only runs on Windows 7 and 8 (if you’re a Mac user, you’ll have to install Parallels or equivalent Windows-emulator software) and even though you can load, in the 64-bit version, projects containing 32-bit modules, some module may not be recognized. A 32-bit version of this v1.2 alpha version is also available but now the 64-bit has widely been popularized, we hope that the developers will quickly adopt it and offer 64-bit VST 3 versions of their plug-ins (imagine the number of available freeware plug-ins out there?) for Mac as well as upgraded versions for Windows.
