Topic Can I use scarlett to stream multi-channel audio via shoutcast / icecast
Will windows be able to see individual inputs from the Scarlett? If you go to recording devices in windows, will it see each input channel of the scarlett separately.

Let's say I have 6 analog mono sources playing different types of music and I have a Scarlett 6i6.

I would like to stream the music using shoutcast (or icecast) in my LAN. Is this possible?

Hi,
Windows will only see the first two inputs and outputs of any Focusrite interface, this is because Windows utilises the WDM driver.
To make use of the multiple inputs and outputs, you will need to use a program that utilises the ASIO driver, most DAWs just as Logic, Cubase, Ableton, ProTools etc will use the ASIO driver. Even when using the ASIO driver, this would allow you to route different output multiple audio tracks to different analogue outputs, not necessarily to another program.
With this in mind, I don't believe it possible to stream audio as you are suggesting.

Appreciate the clarification. So if I use the ASIO driver, not just a DAW, but even windows will be able to see all input channels.

Is this correct?

You have to search for a hybrid driver / software...

Like jack for apple : it lets you link everything to every where.

I don't remember but i believe there was something called asio4all.. Perhaps that is what you are searching for.

I never used it because the delta 1010 i used already used asio drivers for windows and did exactly what you want.

No, Windows itself cannot utilise ASIO, only WDM and so only two inputs and outputs will be visible.
Our new beta USB driver 3.1.10 allows for some specialist programs to utilise multi-channel WDM, however Windows is not one of those programs. I have not used Jack, although may be worth looking into: http://www.jackosx.com

Asio4All is essentially an ASIO wrap for WDM, so it allows programs that only use ASIO to utilise WDM if you need to, which doesn't achieve what you want to here.
