    OVERALL OPINION

I commit by copying and pasting here what I said on the forum:

    Hi,

I SX from qq days and it's a real bonheeur, trs objectively

The interface can Drout at first but it is an illusion.

It promne field mouse over the button tooltips explain everything.

After one hour, there is the bte to hand without any problems.

It's true that reading the book "Getting Started" help too.

Something a bit boring: the USB dongle while my two jacks are occupied dj This proves once again that these protections n'emmerdent those who pay their apps, the waza is promne dj since last Wednesday.

Otherwise, there is still the same bug, which is normal for version 1.0. Personally, I have a butt on mixdown that food sometimes Premire VSTi notes or the same mixdown does not work in OGG format.

Steinberg is often ahead of the competition it is to innovate ds (VST, ASIO, VSTi etc. ...) but they seemed the floss against other (Logic 5, Sonar 1.0. ..). It was worth the wait.

To say that everyone rlait "yeah, Charly, r must write your Cubase, it's just code any old rotten! Let us Nuenbase or Cuendo!" He did it!

They Russi small feat: to offer a product REALLY new but some RFLEX repents of Cubase.

It's clear, I did not even install Cubase 5 r

In this regard, the import of Cubase 5 songs is going more or less success depending on the case. But overall, we found there.

In short, your résumé if you are big fans of Cubase, you must do the update. € 350 uros for a new software (it keeps the 5.1) is not too expensive even if the update is more expensive in France than elsewhere. Knowing that even when version 1.0 is forcment imperfect.

If you do not know Cubase SX BMD wait, you could you sduit

    Installation: No problem
Incompatibility: None (except two or three small non rcupres when I import information from old songs VST32 Cubase format, but it does not bother me too).
Ease conf. gnrale Ca dpend of what we want to change, but overall very comfortable.
Electronic manual clear enough (missing some information, but rather complete in all), but I very much regret the abscence of paper manual.

Functioning: no problems with ACPI disables (some problems with ACPI enabled ...)

    Installation is no problem

the vsti already installed are recognized

Then it's a bit of hallucination ... nothing to do with version 5. But a diligent user of version 5 will find terms and similar functions.

what is really interresting is the management of tracks: one has easy access to the parameters of each track, a complete channel strip.
    Personal love

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I stuck on the management noon. I never AIM cubase for that, I prefer cakewalk.

I use cubase to record audio only, and it's magic, management asio is fantastic.
I have an athlon 600 and 512 MB of Ram

No problem for installation. Systm recognizes all the peripherals (Edirol UA700 and others)

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

No problemo on my laptop P4 1.6GB. I did not test my PC Base which is a 1 Ghz Athlon. The synths plugins for use against bcp CPU.
RAS for the sound, MIDI, effects. A small "-" to the effects. We should be able to choose between cost the effect (in context) and calculate.
The program freezes when it is seeking too much. I test everything "on the fly" as an FX rack. The program will integrate a tool that should gre in real time the CPU usage and RAM to improve performance

    OVERALL OPINION

As a former Logic user, the choice was made on Cubase APRS hsitations long. Admittedly, Sonar and Samplitude have the rpondant. Finally SX is much more intuitive than it seems. The processing of audio and MIDI give are daunting to the extent that most of the CONTRL is available on the window base. Sonar and Cubase SX are similar bcp on this point, but the advantage SX.
Trs is flexible Exceeds Logic version 4. Can be a little less efficient in MIDI, but for me it is an excellent tool. Report quality discount.
Systm is all that is currently my needs, because Logic has disappeared from the PC platform. Its conviviality and its prsentaation logic convinced me

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

No problem running this software on my config. I had big problem with my config antrieure MIDI-based motherboard ABIT VIA chipset because of the USB or worse (I bought a PCI card with USB ports).
I've never had a crash. The only crashes I meet are not ds SX - well I think - but all the programs that I plug in adds a slave and I feel like a bug, especially if I open a internet session ... not to do. I would also say that my computer is Fully ddi music with just one connection to the net for the records of software and updates. Especially not install Office package on the same computer! Performance is as midi Whereas in audio (treatments differ in appearance and in a timely rels).

    OVERALL OPINION

I use this software for over 6 months but I knew dj Cubase using it since version 3.7. At the very beginners, there's a few years, I worked on Atari but I never used other software midi / audio on a PC.
A little regret for the GUI. I AIM it seems a little more pro. It would be nickel we can choose the colors of the interface and the Steinberg site offers customized version.
I find the price justification and I advise everyone to buy it but be careful you may not be NCESS to use all functions of the SX ... then you turn the ct version of the SL least coteuse.
I would do the same choice is clear.

Cubase SX is the ideal multitrack software for PC. It is an open-ended program which supports all Re-Wire applications i.e. Reason, Ableton Live 2.0, Re-Birth etc, as well as DX ,and of course Steinbergs own VST plug-ins. The possibilities only end with your creativity. Full multitracking, editing, MIDI sequencing, and effects suite. 10/10 for features.

    Price paid

    $475

Flowing through a session is a breeze with the new SX layout.

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

The sound quality is great but it depends on the host soundcard. I give the sound a 9 out of 10 for a very clean sound. If you're looking for that warm sound you need outboard gear or some really good tube emulating plug-ins.

1.06 is fairly complete and the 1.01 bugs are history. Can't wait for the new features in SX 2, especially the fx returns!!

The True Tape emulation is one of the best features a music software manufacturer has ever come up with. The on-board reverbs are a bit on the clangy / chilly side. The eq sounds too harsh and digital to my taste. I definitely like the A1 synth. BIG bass sounds and leads. The internal mp3 encoder is excellent.

For the most part, the quality is solid enough to not require any support. CS is ok as long as one stays on standard issues. They seem to lose it a bit when you come up with problems out of 'exotic' configurations. For those who are using Steinberg (-recommended) hardware there shouldn't be any major problems though. BTW I wouldn't use it at a gig, just like any other software...

    OVERALL OPINION

It's a studio workhorse and it does what it's supposed to do, most of the time... For fancy twiddling I turn over to the 02R ;)

I find it to be the best sequencer as many audio formats are supported. whether you need to use audio loops or midi its all there. more included plugins would be useful but thats the only thing i feel they are lacking in. a lot of people say they need windows that dock. I didnt mind the seperate windows structure. the windows tab makes it easy to switch back and forth between windows, and you can close a window that isnt in use and open up back later.

The included plugins are decent enough to get some songs done, but to really use cubase to its full potential you gotta get some vst's.

I messed up my install once but installing too many free vst's. I wasnt sure what plugin messed with it, but i had to reinstall cubase, it would crash upon start up. that was the only problem ive had. its never crashed on me.

    OVERALL OPINION

After using many programs, I have come to the conclusion that recording songs in cubase is straight forward and logical. You don't have to think about it, you just play, and nothing gets in the way of your creative process. with vst support, and of course rewire, the possibilities are endless, and i recommend every studio pick up cubase sx now.

I find Cubase to be the best program yet when it comes to plugin support and and tweeking mixes. I also love that scores editor, and absolutely love the way it accomodates other plugins and programs. Although I would have hoped that rewire could be faster.

I use it primarility with sounds from other programs, however I to say that it sounds really good when mastering and rendering to a wav. The mp3 exports sound poor though. But for what I do I have to say im satisfied.
