UTILIZATION

Simple and clear. You select a sound, you press REC, it is recording. There is a choice between real-time recording, screen (how Roland BAR) and step (to work the hair close to the wheel).
Everything is at hand, the menus are very rarely used during the phase composition. And when you dive, this is rarely beyond one level deep, because the machine architecture eliminates the need for "sub-sub-sub-menu".
The knobs 16 are multifunctional: according to the selected page, they control the volume of 16 tracks, the pan, the synthesis of the active track, and ... external hardware.
Yes, yes, really. The MP7 can become (as the name suggests) a control station for the studio thanks to knobs page "program" is a mini-BCR2000 ...
The only downside: no UNDO after registration (even OS 2.0). A real shame.

SOUNDS

I have the original ROM (Pure Phatt) and for now I'm happy. For those who find the sounds limited, scratch a little, it's worth it.
The MP7 can program your own sounds ... And that's unique (for a 10 year old machine ... Think of what Roland was at the time!)
Each sound is composed of four stamps, self-powered waveforms single, percussion or PCM. So you can program (with a little work, it is the only part a little twisted) sounds from the Moog bass to ethereal pads to burne reverb.
Or we can make a sound like "snare drum lined with a low TB-303 surrounded by a slide guitar arpeggio in which pouic with an LFO." It would sound really bad, but it can be done. Besides the factory sounds will sometimes look far in this style in bad taste so WTF. Be.
The only limit level programming is in the manufacture of drum kits, not really free ... But it turns round quite easily.
For my part, I erased some factory sounds rotten to me a base of four presets: a saw, a square, a triangle and sine. With that, we can go very far!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it occasionally when I have time. Learning is a bit long for those who want to go further than a "boom-tchak" on 4-stroke, but it's exciting.
I usually couple the MP7 in Ableton Live, which I use as a piano roll. I compose on Live with MIDI, and MIDI recording outgoing MP7. It simplifies the job well in publishing I still have to buy a sampler, and I can almost do without PC!
No opinion about the price, etc., it's vintage. I love this machine, compact, solid (box 100% steel, not plastic)

Polyphony is 128. There are 13 pads. Two notches. 32 MB of sounds from the Pure Phatt. 3 slots ROM. Subtractive Synthse 4 layers. 896 Patterns. A MIDI IN and two MIDI OUT. Six analog outputs and an output numrique. Squenceur 16 tracks, 300 000 notes, 32 MIDI channels. Works in Internal and External. MIDI clock internal / external. Contrlleurs: 49-button switch and 16 potentiomtres. Systm standby with account - down (to DViT dteindre erroneously linstrument: allows some give mmorisation couraging without backup).

UTILIZATION

The configuration-General for the machine t think much but did not catch t. The usual functions are quite accurate and are easily accessible from the squenceur which is somewhat more complex once you know the machine is finished. The feel is pretty decent if rglages are well made. But you need a keypad if you want to make recordings in real time. The manual is comparable to a dictionary, so clear, Retailer and comprehensive enough. But all the time wanting it rfrer lost a lot of time.

SOUNDS

Sounds (from the Pure Phatt) are poustouflants factory. You can imagine the sounds that can CRER? But against I t of the number of sounds (that's it quickly), however incomplete (some catgories sounds are not or are rprsentes evil, which does not make enough original instrumentals or go beyond the ordinary). Most snares are too lgres to Hip Hop: you can not reproduce the fun snare the big producers amricains use, yet it is a machine amricaine destiny e part in Hip Hop. We must therefore find a sampler. I do not dwell on the effects but they parat it good enough even if there are ways.

OVERALL OPINION

The Command Station is a jewel even if it is to add a card gnraliste (Pop Collection or other) to be satisfied. There is a big problem of mass and tricks that can indsirables apparatre when adding an expansion card. To date, as the price of the machine down Whereas the report is qualitprix imbatttable. I Do not hesitate to buy it back if c'tait again, even if most of the snares are dcevantes or should I say not enough Hip Hop. Long live E-mu!

A sampler, but what do you expect for $600? For creating grooves, this is it. Multitrack Midi composer/command station. I do all my midi work on this unit now. I only use the PC for HD recording.

UTILIZATION

Midi management is easy and the features are easily accessible once you under stand the menu structure. Just like all gear though there is a learning curve invovled, but no where near the Roland or Yamaha gear.

Well built except for the data knob. It could be better.

SOUNDS

Excelent Sound. I really am happy with its size, for the power. Real warm sounds and ver tweakable so that you can get the it sounding the way you want it. I just wish there were more sounds. This thing sounds better than an Electribe and an MC-909.

OVERALL OPINION

Overall awesome. I would highly recommend for this to be a center piece of the studio. I love God first, my family, and Music...

Sampler...Sampler...Sampler, the main thing they forgot. Why create a hip hop workstation with no sampling???

UTILIZATION

This isn't a "1-2-3" now I know how to use it type of thing. It takes time and headaches. With so many features the human mind can be overwhelmed. One of the main things which bothered me the most was it's 2 line LCD sreen. You have to cursor everything around. But when you comprehend it's basics, it's an alright machine.

I owned it for about 3 weeks. On the second week it shortcircuited. I never knew what was wrong with it. The power switch and the volume knob, were'nt working, which meant I had to return it to G.C.

SOUNDS

The sounds were not bad at all. They could've added piano samples. The drums need to be more beefy.

OVERALL OPINION

I love the portability of this machine, but due it's malfunctions, I don't establish any plans on purchasing it again. I Love the color. This machine is for someone who owns numerous equipment. It's an add as you go along type of thing. NOT...FOR BEGINNERS!!!
