Notice that grown fat over time ...

In short:
- 2 hand out (with effects) 4 sub outputs (which can act as an insert)
- 16 + 16 triggers by hand, 2 MIDI outputs
- A USB port for transferring and preset pattern, loading of OS
- The sounds can not be edited on Mac OSX
- Effects: in the end have little effect, but the sounds are éditablers a wish, excellent reverb on the master
- Sequencer monstrous. The only manipulation stops for which c is deleting a share via the menu. We are very far from clumsy Roland sequencers, here, is hot.

UTILIZATION

The use is not supported by the screen, but the bike is very well controlled by computer for the config. For recording a hot, live, the emu is the ultimate of the ultimate.

SOUNDS

The choice is very good and very large for the synths, the bass is very accurate and they are shaking the walls.
The only defect, c is the limited selection of drumkits, especially the kicks. For the hip-hop can go to the drum & bass, c is light for the tek / hardtek, c is dead, for the hardcore, c is mouhahahahaha.
There's everything from large sample, of emulation, the choice is very wide
The pads are great a contrast to what has been said above, just well set the many parameters of the velocity.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for the past three weeks. In daily use, no problem we understand the identity of the machine in a week. on the other hand for the "synthesis" exploring opportunities to push more, I think one or two years are not too many.

If the bank has its top drumkits not, however, this machine démerder well for the rest. I would do that choice without PROBLEM. This machine is DANGEROUSLY under side, c is the best machine that I know (all emu). It cost 1600 euros a release in 2001.

I am a big sound from long time, the machines will make it three years I have had, or tested, or seen through, the:
Korg Electribe ER MKII, MKII EA, EMX and ESX
Roland D2, MC09 and MC808
Yamaha RS7000 and RM1X
... and from my ESX is a nice toy, I will not purchase the machines, or else another emu (given the difficulty in finding Roma). This machine is the supreme achievement. It is a choice for life, or at least 5 years at least, it is extremely powerful, it can easily drive a synth.

UTILIZATION

I have the machine for less than a week and have done a dozen sounds right with it.
Setup is super simple, I have rarely seen more simple in fact! It is super intuitive and very flexible. Being used to the mpc's, I was afraid to buy the animal at the beginning because too many people complained about the complexity of use. In the end, I persisted in my choice and honestly, I'm not disappointed. The use is really childish and I find it even more simple than a Mpc, it means everything.
I do not comment on pemetrrais those who experienced difficulties to use it but I know I would rely more they think about my future purchases.
The manual is very clear and everything in it as in a dictionary, you find the function of a button, it will give you and example with this and more. on the other hand, to the effect that is complicated a little but nothing bad ...
Most functions are easily accessible and I'm happy to have to turn a dial to change menu, Akai should copy, it saves time, not to mention some work.
Moreover, the fact that the save button blinks when changes were made can not forget anything, what more?! (Apart from deleting the last record that would have been more, like the mpc's)

Regarding the screen, it does not bother me more than that, since the settings are easily configured. The zoom would not serve much use to me except to have more information inscritent same time, I do not know if it would have been a plus. Anyway, it's super readable and everything is very well represented.

SOUNDS

I have 4 Roma:
the Mo'Phatt (MP-7), the Holy Grail Piano, the Peter S. Advanced Orchestra and the Vintage Collection.

I am rather "jazzy hip hop" and "house"! All roms are varied and are ideally suited to my style of music. I have some old synths, very heavy drums, piano, and drinking more than one ensemble is royal!

On the effects, those j'utilisent are really not bad but not yet mastered at this level, I would make a point later.

From a general point of view all the sounds are good from the moment you can with the traffickers an impact. For those of base, many are used as is for cons, there are sound problems on some presets, and it is a shame. (There may be a way to increase the original sound, but I have not found ) against the other, a little disappointed with the "pads", I thought more diverse, but not too serious.
Some presets are very realistic (drums, percussion and old synths, winds), for the rest of it sounds a bit "synthetic", but the effect desired by the manufacturer and it suits me very well!
The expression is nickel, especially if the volume is configured correctly on the preset. With a little imagination, you can even make huge drum kits, you just try and try to mix elements together.

OVERALL OPINION

As said before I use it for less than one week (5 days) and I am very satisfied with my purchase.
At first I just wanted to buy a Vintage Pro Key, but the prices have calmed OCCAZ my ardor. And then I came across this Groovemachine and I decided to learn a little more ... and here I ended up buying it. It allows me to have 4 banks of sounds quality, super flexible and a sequencer that can control a lot of MIDI devices, effects galore, a recording function on the fly super practical, workable 128vx polyphony and sound output that shook my walls when I'm only fourth in the overall level.
Before buying this machine, I tested the Proteus and I liked her a lot already. I also have an MPC2000XL, I had a MicroKorg but I also sold to take my MP7 and I do not regret it. (I have the same quasiement fontionalités with more grain, 64 tracks, all in a stronger case. For cons no sampler, but I have the mpc for that)
Having tested the machines Roland groove, I can still say that these are two different worlds, each with advantages and pitfalls of, for your choice all depends on the pitfalls of that bother you the least.
What I like most, the quality of Roma and ease of use of the machine, the power of sound that comes out, the number of MIDI ports and analog outputs.
What I like least, the backup system that could have been better thought out.
quality / price ratio hard to beat as there are things possible with the machine and the addition of roms and thanks to those who have not managed to use the machine, the bargain price is free chutte , so for me there is no better now.
The thing I regret most is not having the means to buy it earlier. This machine has been under side so that I had erased from my memory, but it is clear that the choice I would do it again because one of the machines the most underestimated at present, while the other n ' have not yet reached his level. Must also say that the bar, luckily for conccurents there is no built-in sampler and does more than moved Hardware.

Features are pretty good. easy to use except when in song mode.

If worked on any workstation before this will be easy to work on.

so far none of my knobs and buttons fell off and i bought a demo.

SOUNDS

Quality is al good too. too many of th sounds are sampled like the guitars(most are riffs or chords) limiting the use of being creative using your own chords. more guitars, pianos, and strings should of been installed. the are no piano and no realistic guitar sounds. effects afe tight.

OVERALL OPINION

If i can afford to but all the sound cards i would be in love with this but so far i bought proteous card. it gave me a little more to work with. this is a professional sounding beat machine but "ONCE YOU HAVE ALL THE SOUND CARDS YOU'LL BE ON THIS MACHINE MORE THAN THE TRITON!"

Fantastic! It takes just some days to get used to all things, but then it is so easy and you are very free to create your music.

Exept some buttons are not so good, everything is ok.

SOUNDS

The sounds are cool, i damn like em, but i miss something like a piano. Some sounds are very strange, but you can edit them.

I love it, because i can do almost everything i want qith it, i have full control!

I traded up from a MC303 Groovebox, so what do you think? THIS THING SMOKES THE 303!!! That said, an onboard sampler would've been nice.

UTILIZATION

Very intuitive to use and get to know. But, there's also some very deep editing features that I haven't even touched yet, and I've had it for over a year! So lots of potential for growth in one's production techniques.

Built like a tank, I'd take this machine into battle with me anytime!

SOUNDS

Great for hip-hop genre, but I would've like to seen better piano samples. Of course that's what those 3 expansion slots are for right?

OVERALL OPINION

This is the centerpiece of my studio, and probably will be for a while until I can afford something better. ( or some ROM cards) But even then, I'll probably still include it in my productions. Great choice for the person who can only get one box. (like me)

I really like it's sequencer and soundmodule part, but as others mentioned i'm missing a sampler (well, i simply got myself a dedicated sampler and together this setup is incredible) i would recommend upgrading it with other e-mu rom's

UTILIZATION

As others mentioned, it's not really a "plug and play" device.. it definitely needs some knowledge, and if you don't have any at all the monstrous manual can be quite confusing.. if you work yourself into this machine and know what you're doing it's powerful though and fast to use

SOUNDS

Most of the sounds are great, but some have some noise afterwards (i.e. a hat playing right after a snarehit).. it's a good module for hip hop drumsounds, even though they could be more punchy.. i also like the basses

OVERALL OPINION

It's a solid piece of hardware.. i like the pads better than on the mpc's i've played around with

how much i love it? well, i currently do most of my sequencing with it, and together with my akai sampler it's the main piece of my setup

Sequencer is very powerful and can take any mpc (not takin 4000 in count) out. editing sequences is easy, adding groove, and live-helps are very nice.

UTILIZATION

Read the manual once, learn the rest by using it. Very simple. unless you're an idiot.

I've had mine for about 3 years now, never needed any service. Knobs seem solid and it's made of aluminium/steel, very rugged material.

SOUNDS

Very clear and good samplewaveforms. Editing on sounds is easy and layering em makes em more solid and stronger. Drums and bass-sounds are definitive strong points here, lack of pianos etc is a drag, but you can get another ROM for that.

OVERALL OPINION

It's one machine I won't be selling anytime soon. Fully expanded with roms, i've got the OS in my backbone. Makin beats with it is still as fun as it was the first day.

A sampler is the only thing standing between this being an industry standard rather than the mpc. It has tons of buttons and knobs to tweaks sounds, and the ability to mute and umute tracks on the fly. It also has a really cool touch strip which I find to very useful.

UTILIZATION

Aside from the manual which takes a master's degree to understand. The machince its self is very easy to navigate. Most if not all the functions become second nature within a couple of hours of use. Thank god since the manual is so useless. It's one of the most transparent machines out there when it come to getting your ideas out quickly.

SOUNDS

Nice basses, good synths, pianos are kinda weak, but overall the presets are very nice. Plus there is and onboard chorus seperate from the rest of the effects to fattening up your sound.

OVERALL OPINION

The quality of the mp7 seems very good. I haven't had it long enough to make a fair judgement yet, but haven't had any problems yet.

I would have to this is one machine i would nevr part with. My only wish is for emu to come out with a sampler version of this machine. That would leave every other drum machine maker trembling
