The classic of the first pedal Electric guitar amp simulator, go anywhere, cheap and very good value for money, to use as the "Swiss army knife" of guitarist ... simple and effective!
Do not expect either to transform a sound or a transistor amp rotten in beautiful Mesa Boogie Mark IV, in old Marshall plexi or Twin Reverb '60 but frankly adpanne matter if you have a minimum ear to you good sound.
On a sound system for a jam or a lil gig in a bar, on a transistor amp a bit basic (see crappy) story of a little coloring matter or make a clear his drinking (and then connect over your pedalboard, add your personal effects pedals, pedal saturates your favorite etc ...), or an amp acoustic guitar kind AER (in my case and it works pretty well!) for your electric guitar or a little warm in clean or crunch / distortion, to saturate an acoustic guitar ... etc.

UTILIZATION

Making his personal configuration based on diffusion (amp or PA) and his guitar
Super simple to use, just messing around with the settings and make his personal sauce ...
On a PA or amp transistor base, against live in a sound card is not very terrible recess must not ask too much either, but do not want witnesses guitars so turn the tube amp and freak the neighbors 2am it does the job!

SOUND QUALITY

Good momentum of the attack, the sustain and not too much compression distorts the game, relative heat amp sounds cheap.
Realistic enough price and good sound control with knobs that match pretty well.
Respects the sound of the guitar and playing the guitar

Very good value for money service rendered.
For this budget was the best thing since!
You saved the life of electric guitar amp if bar or rehearsal studio is a real shit or if the guy who was to lend you his amp and you planted that you left the PA to ensure your gig!

it took me 6 months of bidding on ebay to get the sans amp gt2 but it was well worth it!! I paid $95 USED!!! on ebay

what do I like about the sans amp gt2 ??EVERYTHING!!!!! it sounds just as good as "most" not all but most of the new modeling amps and at a fraction of the price!! you can take this little beast straight to a sound card or...... if you DARE put it in between your favorite old tube amp and a guitar and HANG ON!!! cause it takes any simple tube amp and turns it into a MONSTER!!!!!

UTILIZATION

Simple configuration, a switch on / off, a lead on / off, 4 knobs Level-hight-low-Drive
1 Amp selector (3 position)
Mod a selector (3 position)
1 MIC (microphone position 3)
ACCS easy, fairly intuitive

SOUND QUALITY

Very effective and realistic effects.
Output high, predict the same breath with a quality guitar (fender micro Snc) and the quality amps correct.
Use clean tweed especially in position, and its clean and rich in harmonic crystal-clear and sharp enough
Saturation effective pannel type of saturation rather broad, made of good quality suprieure to classic overdrive.

OVERALL OPINION

Use for 3 months. Very satisfied with the rendering and the expression of the pedal.
Used alone, it radically revolutionized the sound and expression of a guitar
Couple with other uses because NS is a prvoir end of string, but it boosts all requires a lot of settings.
Excellent quality of material. A final choice especially for a OCCAZ (around 150eu).

I test recording and it is true what Exceeds by POD preamp type etc ...
Live on the other hand in config I test an amp and it sounds Tech21 PE400 drlemment well. (But I prefried PODXT for Big distorted sounds).
The other guitarist in my group who do not like the POD prfere sound and the dynamics of the pedals.
Personally, I like the Tweed and its california but not too the british.

OVERALL OPINION

I bought the pedals used in case of failure of my PODXTLive in concert (and yes has sometimes) and although I do not regret my choice.
I'll even take it more often with just a small time limit and a Wah Wha for the horse.

Well then, I give my opinion on the pedals because it has become a bit of DLIR, apparently before June 14, 2006, everyone thought this extraordinary pedals, and since that fateful day, a would have become an absolutely no pedals!
vrit the good must surely be somewhere in the middle, but given the critics a extrmit leaves room! Then there is a lot that has manufactured dfaillant t sold by mistake, or the human auditory functions were modified rcemment (XCS can be the cell phone?!)
well I think it's a good pedals, but must certainly depend upon what one branch ... when I read cold saturated, neutral, it was not possible SansAmp not the same, because is not the case with mine, and I use it plugged into a PA system!
a good does not replace a head lamp is 1500 euros, but dpanner to play in the computer, to get into a multitrack to register, I think (my opinion), that c ' quality is the best market price of the OCCAZ.

with speaker simulation as "classic" and I have a typical 80's hard rock sound of Michael Shenker, and I think the pod has a cot has a "toy" (can be the pod essay n'tait not good ???), the simulation of twin and msa are pretty well diffrent, the corrections are effective Bertignac I saw in concert and has played rcemment with several pieces, and it's not the kind of scratch play sounds like a cold, neutral and screaming .... but he TFW more ear either ....

OVERALL OPINION

I have 2 years I think it would be better with several switches for more sounds and more accessible simus directos foot, but Tech 21 has done with another product .. the triac.
I tried lots of stuff before, and I prfre is the saturation of my amp, but it is not always the most practical, and this gt2 pedals then everything int ret, especially since it is unbreakable, and not making head, and efficiently without frills.
the ratio q / p is good in OCCAZ trs (I got mine from OCCAZ via a friendly member of this site) is correct in nine.
I would do without this choice problem, but I would take can be the sort of ac OCCAZ, rested for three sounds;
should be still a bit of measurement in the critical product, the guys who buy this hsite PDAL has the choice between supraextra of hell, and no ch ... is not easy to cider in this cas.c is good for prampli PDAL, but it has not nor will give you big sound DEATH, we have a (not always, sometimes never !) that through a combination of things, the guitar, the strings, the mdiator, the receiver, the bowls, the room where we play, and especially the guitar itself!!

edit of 24/01/07: there would be many an old and "new" production, which would explain the gt2 advice on this compltement opposs pedals (the old ...); however, would be better as I shut glad I bought the triac, and I am always satisfied with the products Tech21, even if the triac sounds less on sound than on amp ...

UTILIZATION

The manual is clear and simple but good one pedals it's instinctive.
Ergonomic easy to use effectively as a Swiss Army knife.

SOUND QUALITY

Especially effective distortion I use it as rescue belt in case the trick.
Nice with a bass and clean with some british mode are great.
I use it only very rarely in the input of an amplifier (when no choice) but in the RETURN (loop); guitar IN and OUT and return it in the party.
Of course the input of the amp it gets loud (like the mxr dime) on PREAM preamp not cool.
Console it is better that it be a lamp or a good preamp if not the GT2 in a DI or other amp sim and the table does.
Or it can serve as clean preamp, or after we crunch and distortion can add its top.

OVERALL OPINION

It is a bit expensive new addition to 200Eu but want it a classic.
I like the pedals because it sounds almost anywhere, anytime.
I prefer it in the hi gain marshall and sometimes hot wired, and the bass fender desfois.
it is true that the input of a ammpli I do not like the sound too loud and too little in return rel but it's great, I also tried it on a power amp direct on amp output and 4X12's cool.
I found that on another prempli whatsoever (table, amp, etc) is not sound terrible, but live in a good amp or direct box or table is gnial.
I love it I would do this choice.
By the way I got the standard stuff and believe me when I say it's not a ringing cons say.
Of course a pod or zoom or tone MAIX lab will be better for whom? for what cases? and for what?
I noticed over time that as the pedal or the device is very simple or too minimalist for some, this rule is aimed gnrale for musicians or pro confirm very demanding and picky who does not care to have many things in one.
I advise everyone to try it in front return with DI and other if possible.
I repeat that choice.

This is an analog preamp and/or distortion pedal with quite a few different settings of which any of them can be combined to give you analog guitar tones from clean to death metal high gain!

UTILIZATION

It is a pedal, and is designed like one with a very easy to use configuration. Just set everything one at a time to how you like it. You don't really need the manual for something like this.

Switching the switch in the mic section mimics how the location of a mic on a cabinet. off axis meaning just slightly off center, center being the center of a speaker cone and classic bring distance mic'ed without ambiance.

Mod refers to the type of 'tube amp' setup you can have. Clean being a typical tube amp, high gain being a typical tube amp plus an extra preamp tube adding more gain, and hot wired being a super hot rodded-esque tube amp with a scooped mid-range quality.

Amp of course refers to the mimic'ed type of amp you want. Tweed being a fender-like clean. British being the vintage marshall-like style and california refers to the mesa boogie-like sounds.

One thing I do not like is that there is no mid control knob. Guitar is a mid-range instrument, everything guitar-related should have a mid control.

Remember this is pretty much a preamp. Not really JUST a pedal, it will not really 'add' to your sound, more like it IS your sound. You can't really use it as an overdrive to layer on top of an existing sound as it will most likely just replace the sound you've already got coming out of your amp. I've tried this. I set my amp on clean, and used the pedal to get a completely NEW clean sound, I've done it the other way around. Had the amp on high gain dirt and tried to 'overdrive' the existing distortion and it was a nightmare!

I've also experimented, having the amp set for high gain and setting the pedal to a clean setting, which actually pretty much turned my high gain amp into a clean amp (ALMOST!). Minus some gain hiss and whatnot. I can see this being useful for those who have single channel heads or non master volume amps, you can use this pedal to clean up your signal DRAMATICALLY.

SOUND QUALITY

for the clean settings: They all sound great! Very chimey if needed and very clear. It's a very consistent sound also which I like. Not to mention that way I used it to clean up an amp's distortion also, which I think is unique but very very useful!

as for the distortion: It's generally a bit too gritty for me, I have to set the high knob quite low and boost the low to get it sounding remotely useful. Though the analog distortion is good, it's tight and clear and every note can be heard in a chord and therefore sound amazing for tight rhythm. But the leads is where it begins to fall apart, this is where the weakness is. Chords/rhythms come out strong and tight but leads come out thin, and sterile.

I also found it to be a bit noisy under high gain versus other pedals I've tried, I did use an ISP decimator to reduce any feedback/ground noise but also found I had to turn up the decimator adjustment higher than I would a regular tube amp under high gain.

I think this pedal would sound great for downtuned metal. It's crisp and tight! And cleans are great too! But anything inbetween...it most likely will not satisfy.


OVERALL OPINION

Overall it's a decent pedal for somebody wanting either extreme cleans or extreme dirt. It's good for tight rhythm work but not fluidy enough for leads and a bit sterile.

It does sound quite similar to the trademark amps, I'm beginning to think that they all have a very similar build to them and thus sound similar as well.

I personally would not get another one. I know how it sounds and what it would be used for, and even though it's one of the better analog distortion pedals out there right now it is not versatile enough for me.
