UTILIZATION

It could not be simpler because a single knob. The big problem with this pedal is that we want to put it everywhere so it sounds. So I'll take a 2nd to get one in front and one in the chain. Arf

SOUND QUALITY

I play with a standard strat and strat rise EMG SA.
The sound is simply HUGE. It has a light color in the top medium that brings so much heat that I have to play in his underwear.

Nothing flashy, not characterized control to the equa amp, shit; there is just a little je ne sais quoi in addition that brings a hell of fishing to your rig. Placed in front, knob at 11am, we really gaining momentum with an intake of discreet but effective gain, and already with a noticeable increase in volume. Really, it's very hard to turn it off once it has begun.

You push the knob in the last quarter and then it starts really cruncher, not to mention the onslaught of decibels that takes in esgourdes.
Note that the sound is slightly cramped. It is still very far from TS like in terms of "nasality."

It goes very well in reinforcement of a more hairy distortion, the micro amp giving the dynamic potential that could break said pedal (it is thanks to him that I did not throw my little big muff, and finally for the moment).

In the loop, the pedal proves just as effective. You lose the contribution of gain to win only on the volume (which is the goal), while keeping the slight coloration makes it really formidable. It transcends the sound on a solo or a riff that we need to attack with more fishing.

OVERALL OPINION

I use the micro amp for 2 years and have therefore placed at all possible, parts of my rig.

It's very subjective, but I find it gives the best of itself between 11am and 15:00. In real thing, is connected and gets a big mandala. I would not have imagined that a boost pedal, which is reluctant to buy a little at the beginning to its very appearance "utility" would be such a pillar of my sound.

You'll like her or not, but in any case it really worth trying.

SOUND QUALITY

I would say it depends on the material used. I use a Vox AC 50 which is already a great amp. The clean Vox is already great but I use this pedal MXR Micro Amp between my guitar and my amp and then the sound is real nice and much more now (I use 40% of the winning race).
Namely, as I'm bassist, I also tested between my bass and my amp (ashdown mag 300) is ideal for bass solos, or even to move from its companion round sound more suited to funky slap.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 6-8 months now and this is the pedal that I use most in my pedalboard without doubt. The finish is obviously very strong as usual with MXR. Many complain about the location of the power supply but I do not mind it more than that.
The price may be too high for this simple hair gain but well worth finishing, simplicity and the final rendering.
It simply indispensable.

Gigging and recording musician for 30 years but got pretty rusty on guitar for a long time (synthesizers took over) but recently inspired by the purchase of a Danelectro 56 Pro, have begun to play again. Currently trying to unlearn all my bad habits but having great fun with a 1974 Fender Vibrolux, Colorsound Wah Wah, Fender Jazzmaster and mxr micro amp.

I got mine in a boot sale for £5 in about 1995. I'm guessing it is a mid-late 70s model, without the red light.

I love the primal simplicity of this box - a rugged chassis, a decent switch, minimal logo and a single enormous black rubber dial (that'll be GAIN, then)....

The bottom is secured rather over-entusiastically by 4 screws and a metal plate, not exactly convenient but a lot better than a flimsy plastic hatch. After about the fourth battery change you'll probably be considering leaving the damn thing off altogether...probably not a good idea though.

The Micro amp does what it says on the tin really...it acts as a pre-amp stage to drive your amp at low levels without altering your tone. You get pure crunch without the fuzzy mess of most distortion units. In my humble opinion most distortion pedals out there are no match for an overdriven valve amplifier. Having said that I quite like a bit of fuzzy mess on the top once in a while ...Big Muff, anyone?

I would have to say the lack of the light is a bit of a pain. Generally speaking however, when this bad boy is ON...you'll know. Other than this little quibble there's nothing to dislike about this pedal.

Basically it's a block of steel. Built like a tank. Go on, kick it around for a while. Then check for broken toes.

The Micro amp is a very simple idea, executed perfectly. When you can't drive your amp too much (neighbours etc.) this will do it for you, without compromising your essential tone. I don't know how it sounds on other amps, but it sounds pretty fantastic with some hot valves!
I haven't been using a distortion unit since my Roger Mayer Mongoose Fuzz got nicked a while back, and am still considering adding a distortion unit, maybe a Rat or a Tube Screamer. But I see the distortion pedal as a kind of final stage for when you can afford to go over the top...then you can back it down to the Micro amp stage and return to your 'real' sound.
I'd just like to say I'm in no way a guitar guru, these are just my personal impressions of gear I own and use. Hope this helps someone.

I purchased my first MXR Micro Amp used on E-bay for about $60. I loved it but it was an older model without a light to let me know when it is on and without an input to allow me to use a wall wart. I bought another one new and paid $90 at a local music store.

I don't know if you can really call this pedal a guitar "effect" because it does not really color my tone in any way. What the Micro Amp does is provide the player with a gain boost. It has one nob that allows you to determine how much of a boost you want. This pedal lets me set my amps volume so that I am where I belong in the mix with the rest of the band and then when i go to play a lead or a subtle finger picking part I can step on the pedal and get that extra juice I need to move out in front slightly. Before i found the MXR Micro-amp i had tried to use an EQ pedal for the same purpose, i found that it was harder to manipulate and actually changed my tone rather than just boosting my signal.

Now that I have the newer model I don't know how I ever lived without the on/off light.

Made very well and it's such a simple concept that there is very little to go wrong.

If you play both rhythm and lead guitar in a project this pedal is great. You won't believe how such a simple function will add to the depth and power of your playing.

This booster is not completely transparent. For those looking for it, MXR has released another great boost in collaboration with Bob Bradshaw / Custom Audio Electronics.
The Micro Amp meanwhile, brings a slight sheen in the treble, much appreciated! This is useful for a solo boost or just to add a little something personal has its sound. It's simple: mine is on almost constantly, and adds a dose of sacred fishing crunch of my Fender Blues Junior!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it now for about two weeks, on my guitars. I was not specifically gone to get a boost, is already well supplied with drives (TS808 Ibanez, Boss OD1 and Proco Rat), but an opportunity with a 39 euros, I jumped on it and I do not regret not at !
Of course such a tariff has the price / quality ratio is unbeatable, however, I think I can say that even new, this pedal is worth it.

I have tried the MXR Boost / Line Driver (excellent, the one) and the Electro Harmonix LPB1 (amazing, but apparently fragile). But the non-transparency of the Micro Amp adds some magic to my sound: hard to part with it now!

The effect is a signal boostage intended to increase its volume for the lead parts, or to adjust the signal to the amp when changing guitar (humbucker / single coil). A third mode of use is to place this pedal constantly lit at the end of a long-chaining of various effects pedals to make the signal dynamics that would have degraded during the various in / out.

UTILIZATION

I think we can not be simpler ... the effect has a gain knob for the determination of desired level of boost. The connector consists of an in & out and a power supply sector. Of course a switch to (dis) engage the effect. Manual clear and comprehensive, even if there is not much to say, given the ease of use of the machine.

SOUND QUALITY

In fact, the impact of micro amp mainly depends on two things:

Its place in-chaining and especially the fact that it is placed before or after the distortion
-From the amount of gain you use on your amp.

For my part, I tried this pedal in conditions strong enough away from my setup (stock the store requires ...). I tried it on a fender twin amp saturated with a Wylde overdrive. The seller has exposed me as the idea that I intended to connect the front of my amp, he was placed in the micro amp overdrive and returning from the amp. And indeed, in this config, it works as described partout.Le signal is boosted in dB, so do not push the knob too far, it means more than enough for the lead.
But of course it did not work the same on my Soldano ... why? Well, simply because of the much higher gain of the head compared to the Wylde overdrive.
And I could not find any of this increase in power to be heard solo. While the sound became a bit more "punchy" but it was really too subtle to be noticed in a group situation. (If not ... no need)

But ... where I should be disappointed, I actually found that this pedal could be used even further, as a real complementary channel really useful.
Thus, by connecting a channel on my set wholesale crunch, I just hallucinated: A 0 it goes to nothing, and I rode the gain knob,
over the volume went up in proportion to the volume of the amp ... Normal, what, since there are no masses of distos ... but what do I have to fuck a lead sound with little distortion ... Huh ...? Honestly? O)

But the past 2 / 3 of the race knob, the term "gain" is (well ..: o)
its meaning: The swollen spectrum while becoming frighteningly accurate. I rang a huge canal in huge, really great for stoner rock rhythm that I like. His precise, crisp, no hum or whistle even at high volume, incredibly sharp. In fact, I found something in the spirit of the channel through orange found on the dual recto pages, a huge crunch like a little cocaine to the Foo Fighters!

This rediscovery of my amp allowed me to spend my 2nd channel will exclusively lead by adjusting the gain and volume accurately, which did not displease me!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a week and has already repeated three and a concert. I really have absolutely no complaints about this pedal that I use for it. I use very few of the clean (no I'm not a fag) and relatively few of the lead too (no I'm not Yngwie). And the micro amp allowed me to catch the ITS I needed for my large rhythm in my group so that it became my main grain used 95% in what I play. I tried many different things to boost my crunch (overdrive, booster, equalizer ...) but it distorted my signal and especially the grain Soldano is still fun, at the base (^^). But the sound is there ... ... ... enhancer is simply magical and extraordinary musicality.

Anyway ... I'm a fan!

The value for money is correct, although the system seems very simple ... but ... MXR's still the good stuff that sells easily at a price not too revised tumbles.

I certainly would not make that choice if I had tried this pedal on a high gain amp in the store because at the base, I was looking for a stomp box allowing me to boost my sound in dB for leads ... but with the experience, I really started to realize that everything is complicated considerably when it comes to boosting a high gain amp. The ideal is dedicated to another amp, or more realistically, another channel that alone.
And mxr, by necessity, led me to do that, and I'm really happy ... I had one here ... I have a 2CH 3CH ...

in AC30 is monstrous (found in grain Brian May magnificent c)
jcm slash in it's great I have a 3rd channel (with the lead switched it looks like a single correct: sisi I assure you I have had this amp and I can tell you that it has very high limits better volume)
in the krank I use it as I do for Channel klean cruncher (not a twist that channel even with the volume turned up).

This effect is extremenent effective, I use it between my amp and my SansAmp GT2 LM (100% head lamps Soviet-made). As a group, I use it to boost my volume for solos. In addition to the volume, this pedal adds a slight grain (kind of enhancer?) Makes the sound more accurate, better defined.

OVERALL OPINION

The used since 1994.
I know of no other pedal as effective.
But although the guitarist who uses it uses the distortion of the amp, it is useless!
It must be placed after an effect module (amp simulator, distortion pedal ...).

Unlike what t says below, I put it before my overdrive (overdrive duel) by rglant half done when I s'paissit engages the overdrive, the gain increases a and the low volume. In fact the volume increases lgrement but since the sound s'paissit and there is a little more clarity I find this formula trs effective since the sound is more pchu without excessively increasing db in volume, and as the vox has two overdrive channels, with the engagement or not to boost me 4 channels while keeping some homognit in the sound, everything happens in the subtle trs effective sounds clear and even with an electro acoustic.

OVERALL OPINION

Used for 2 months, a great combination with my duel overdrive, my sound has compltement changed (much better), if I had I would try as much of a boost vox lamps

SOUND QUALITY

I tried several pedals boost: Rocktron Nitro, Electro Harmonix and MXR M133 LPB1. Frankly, the M133 is the most neutral (what I was looking). I tried to string beginners in effect to increase the gain, and the end to raise the volume, everything passes. Each of view. Warning: if you use the distortion on your amp with a gain standard, the boost does not significantly rhaussera sound. It will add in better against DEFINITIONS and clarity. For all that is placed in the chain of effects and clear sound, this MXR done against 100% perfect: the still, bright, clarity and precision are waiting for you.
Note that the pedals will eventually produce crunch that pushes beyond the 2 / 3 (which is standard dj if you have: other instruments will drown!). So perfect: it boosts without dnaturer!

OVERALL OPINION

I find the price (100 euros) but I'm pretty lev fully happy with the pedals effectively. I recommend if you want acqurir a boost, try also LPB1 Electro Harmonix: half CHRE fairly neutral and I think too. The LPB1 has a physical architecture (mtal box, stomp switch and a knob) the same ... APRS you to see. I am plutt MXR ... I really hsit between the two and that's the brand that Determines me! In any case, if c'tait again: YES, I will take the M133!

2 uses for two tendon ducts possible:

Other purposes: to adjust the output level between different guitars / pickups on a same amp, a lot of guitarists use it also to boost a solo.
