This pedal is a stew. Of course it may be appropriate for a beginner on an amp 5 watts to play in his room, but the sound remains cold, artificial, the shrill treble, mids acids them, well it is true that it gives illusion of some potato game, but it's still very good all artificial, there is no definition, no respect of touch. A beautiful stew usurps the reputation.

NOTICE GLOBAL

I used a long time ago, I tried a number of distortion, stews as the metal zone or dod death metal, a fuzz face, other more conclusive as the marshall shred master, the 'Ibanez Tube King, and I look acqurir a blackstar dist x which has a grain more natural and melodious, bass and treble much quilibrs and a significantly better definition, while both very respectful of touch.
The particular feature that I liked in the metal zone (the only) c the potato, however, I do not have that choice.

Was about $84 when I bought it a few years back. I bought it, tried using it for a while, put it aside for about a year or so, took it out again to try out, then ended up selling it. ***I bet this review probably will or already has bad ratings on it, mainly because of "cool kids" and their sad music of today. ***READ ON***

Yeah, nothing really to put in here to be truely honest.

I don't see why Boss even put the mid range frequency and mid control knobs, the idiot kids who buy this piece of junk are just going to put them both at or about at 0 and boost their highs and lows to get the worst sounds ever! When you add in the mids and mid frequency, you realize, wow, what a piece of $hit! This pedal sounds horrible! You add the mids in and you get a nasaly over the top distortion. Even when you turn the distortion down, it's still sort of a lot of distortion. Word of advice, if you are some kid who buys this pedal because you think metal or punk is cool and boost the highs and lows and turn down the mids, take your family photos off the wall, all I can say is you are going to produce tons of rumble out your amp and whatever is on your walls in your little room is going to fall down and hopefully break. If you are into that rumbling distortion that sounds like crap, go right ahead and buy the piece of garbage. I hated the pedal, wished I didn't waste the $80-something on it, so I went and practically gave it away to this person I knew who played bass and guitar, hope he's having fun with it, because it's like a little pile of dog crap on the floor that produces sounds that sound like crap!

It's a Boss pedal, very reliable stuff. Unfortunately, these crappy little Metal Zone pedals will probably last longer and be on the market longer than the good distortion pedal will be around for, which is very, very sad. Let me say it again, very, very SAD!

You can't even get a decent crunch out of the pedal, all you can get is rumble and sound like a little 14 year old kid who just picked up guitar because "it's cool". BOTTOM LINE: IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE MANY KIDS WHO PICK UP GUITAR TO BE COOL, GIVE IT A REST 'FOREVER', SELL OR GIVE AWAY YOUR CRAP AND NEVER PLAY GUITAR AGAIN! The only reason Boss has been making some of the $hittiest pedals I've ever used, is because of the kids and the crappy music of today! Boss is now making pedals like the DS-2, the MT-2, and the MD-2 to sell and make loads of $ on idiot kids who want to play songs from the crap music of today! Boss makes good distortion pedals, the DS-1, the BD-2, and their overdrive pedals are really nice and transparent, you can get the sounds of a nice old tube stack using the DS-1, BD-2, SD-1, and OD-3, that's if you don't have a tube amp or head. Those 4 Boss distortion and overdrive pedals sound really good on solid state amps also. REAL MUSICIANS, GO FOR ONE OF THOSE FOUR PEDALS, EITHER THE DS-1, BD-2, SD-1, OR OD-3, if you are looking to get a good sounding pedal by Boss.

I bought mine a few years ago and never really used it. I bought it for like $85 new

It's built pretty well and has a lot of EQ'ing options, but they don't help you out too much with the way this pedal sounds.

I took this pedal back out of its box a month ago to try out, and it took me so long to dial in a decent ( <- key word there) sound. Boss really emphasized the mids way too much, it's mainly there because they knew anyone who's gonna buy the pedal wants to get that no mids at all sound and just boost the highs and lows to get that HUGE-$HIT distortion that covers up pathetic guitar playing. If you add in the mids, it sounds pretty bad, very nasaly no matter how you put the EQ's. I did dial in a decent sound, but it still wasn't what I wanted, so I sold the piece of junk to my friend for $40.

Boss makes very durable and long lasting pedals, too bad all of them don't sound good. They should try to make every pedal sound good and last for a while instead of just making long lasting but semi-decent sounding pedals. (that goes for the distortion pedals only) The only good Boss distortion pedal I like is the DS-1, because I play classic rock and it is PERFECT for classic rock!

Go ahead and listen to some of the idiot reviews here and on other websites, but believe me, most of the people who use this pedal and say it is good say that only because they get rid of or use little to no mids at all to get that "nu-age", rumble "rock" sound, which is PATHETIC and terrible!!! I won't even consider it as rock music because it isn't! The metal zone isn't Boss's worst distortion pedal, but one of their many bad sounding distortion pedals, it's down there with the DS-2 and the Mega Distortion pedal. I guess this is good for that new age sound, but if you are a real musician that plays real rock music, don't even waste your time by trying the metal zone out, it's crap.

I got this item for my good grades but if I was graded on making a desicion on a distortion pedal, i would've gotten an F

the batteries last pretty long and you could knock someone out if you chunk it at them.

Where do I start?! when i first bought it i was trying to install the batteries on it and the part you stomp on to activate it fell off. I called customer support and it took 6 weeks for me to get another one!! It sounds like s#!t to be honest. The only sound you can achieve from this piece of crap is some kinda fuzz. Why didnt they call it a Fuzz pedal for crying out loud? The dist. is either to Dry or too heavy. I play Punk (Blink 182, Green Day.etc) and Hard Rock (AC/DC, Van Halen, Led Zepplin...u get the point.) and it is the absolute worst pedal you could possible buy! I should;ve gotten an MXR DoubleShot Dist. for $30 more!

my friend has this pedal, she got it for about $80 canadian.

NOTHING! i hate this pedal with the deepest depths of my soul, and so does every other guitar playing friend that i have. it's abseloutly terrible.

it makes you sound like you're playing through a tin can. there is WAAAAAAY too much Mid and High end frequency. this is the worst pedal i have ever heard. you can really only get one of two sounds out of this pedal, and they are both really bad. i have NO idea why people like this pedal.

it's a boss pedal, so it's never going to break

simply horrible. i have never heard a worse sounding distortion in my entire life! there are tons of better distortion pedals out there!

Grosse disto noisy

UTILIZATION

While there, stop on, this pedal is frankly sucks ...
if you like plants and its cold breath, bah it's perfect.
but if you are looking for a minimum its own heavy, it's shit.
a plant in breath! there is no noisier. then I will be told to add a noise gate ok.
my advice at value for money, I have not found better than the Ibanez SM-7
with a small integrated noise gate. I have exchanged against an old rotten pedalier ibanez and I am very happy. my metalzone, she is not out for a long time ...
I prefer to play with the distortion of my amp (which is however not a killer ...)

Transistor distortion pedal with semi parametric eq

UTILIZATION

It can be a bit more complicated than other pedals of distos because of the eq but it's still fairly intuitive

SOUND QUALITY

It is not worth much.
Yes there are plenty of bass, sound and super compressed metal dug and a large pallet of its potential.
But none of the possible sounds are usable as a group due to these aggressive acute impossible to simply remove (thus no interest in semi parametric eq).
This is great for playing at home with a small amp, but as a group and on any amp (lamp, transistor) can be distinguished as diffuse species of bee.

OVERALL OPINION

I have in years but I played it a few years.
It pleased me to my death metal debuts of the apartment but I went in groups on clean amp heads, I quickly saw the limitations of this pedal.
I find this pedal sounds overly expensive considering it produces and I wonder how dare BOSS still sell this model without the improvement.
I had paid 300 balls OCCAZ at the time and it would not be more fresh in my mind.
The only quality is its strength, the BOSS pedals are indestructible.

This opinion is binding on me though.

On one hand, build way Soviet T-90 tank (Indestructible then, but is even less pleased when facing a Javelin missile art.)

The common with the T-90 is that the pedals is a formidable weapon in terms of breaking the ear of Public Relations odious Feedback strident.
And worst of all, it's the only fun that could have been able to imitate the sound of fart pa is possible because of the sustain too long. (Not adjustable, as is possible on a Big Meufe for example.)

Good for the worst if you find me hard, I accept the fact that we can get out of this box of punk or heavy dirty mtal well, yes all alone in her bedroom for fun.
As a group, add drums and bass and the sound of your guitar is no longer a "CHEUUHHHHHHHH inconprhenssible" permanent.

A youthful fairly expensive, however this time J'T perssuade to have a beautiful sound.

Sound of drooling all it's totally inrglable cts. The name is a misnomer, "Black & Decker Zone" might have been preferable.

Bought long ago, I keep this pedals about 2 months time to buy a multi-effect of good quality.

To those who say that the pedals dpend the amp? OK, but why buy a metal zone if adj afford a good amp with a distortion that will forcment better.

So for beginners and résumé if you want a more metal ... go your way, it better cheaper. In addition, if you really want to buy, consider the budget for a noise suppressor for the Larsens hello.

But if you are not beginners ... Why do you want to buy??

Analog distortion pedal, works with a 9V battery or a transformer, classic. Metal case of very good quality, it seems very difficult to damage it.

It is impossible to get a "big" sound with a metal zone. I owned a guitar when I started to, I sold after I paid for my tube amp. I bought one on a flea market (€ 20) for fun, I plugged in, and "my god what shit" were my first words. At that price, it's theft: it is very easy to find better for less. I do not understand the popularity of this pedal. We had all realized it was rotten 10 years ago!

It is still possible to draw some overdriven sounds drinking, but if it's for a quarter of the possibilities of DS2, as buying it, to be more sound much warmer, much less synthetic.

In short, I recommend the black metal guitarists, who found a great pedal for the style. To others, I strongly recommend to try something else before slamming € 90 (!!!) it.

I'm going to keep mine, because having a Metal Zone is a bit like having a beer glass Koenigsbier ...

Distortion pedal very simple EQ knobs ... Very well detailed in several other opinions.

UTILIZATION

- The general configuration is it simple?
Few knobs, you come quickly to sound too disgusting by turning the knobs to pif.

This is where it gets tough! The distortion is very very very thin and lack of presence. Result: no matter the setting, you sound like an electric razor. I tried just about everything and nothing to do. The Treble sounds literally like a razor, the mids, even with the knob to adjust the frequency of the mids, do not puncture, and the bass is too present, is not enough.
