    Marshall AVT50

    Marshall AVT50Published on 06/22/02 at 15:00
I got this Marshall AVT50 at a Hollywood Guitar Center and I paid $507.00 with tax.

I liked the volume it is very loud. It has the great Marshall reverb that I also love. The distortion was the main feature. It was on of the best ones i heard; although a little (little) bit fuzzy, but when you start playing you cant hear anything but great Marshall distortion.

Well.... I said the main feature was the distortion and it was. The clean was to rough and it was a bit shaky. the bass was to big too. If you lowered it you got a ok sond but its not the clean Marshall is known for. Other than the clean was a to me 1-10 a 6.8 its a great amp.

Built like a tank. Almost unbreakable. When i touched i…

Built like a tank. Almost unbreakable. When i touched it i knew it was strong. It hard and Big. WELL made. (like every Marshall)

Good for house use. It was a great amp, but the clean kind of killed it. It is not a Marshall TSL clean but its a clean. think you should go try it out.

    The marshall AVT50 owns a pre-amp lamp lamp ECC83 (12AX7 type)
    Speaker made by Celestion 12''
Possible connection to a speaker (impedance 8/16ohms)
A clear channel - a channel saturated overdrive - internal spring reverb-
Headphone jack - jack CD - Footswitch - Fx fx send and return for effects loop

    UTILIZATION

Readable manual that poses no problem of comprehension.
    Simple setup and use.
Very wide pallet of sound - all depend on the effects used (or series or loop 2)

    SOUNDS

The Marshall sound - The pre-amp tube enhances the sound quality. All configurations have been tested ... Loop / series etc. ... The rendering is good ... both with clear sounds with sounds saturated.
Saturations important types SansAmp GT2, MXR, Boss go quite well or even very well with a noise gate to predict for Tech21.
The clean sounds are downright good: crystalline and wishes to slap with rather nice harmonies

    OVERALL OPINION

In general, Marshall is used for the grain typical UK.
This little combo associated with ECC83 delivers clear sound quite interesting. From dun certain level of volume, the pre-amp starts to saturate the preamplifier stage to create a saturation of a typical tube amp.
The grain used to refine the color of sound: its wide range of bright blues rock until saturation.
I use this material for over 2 years. Personally I only play on the clean channel from which I built my sound (clear crystalline was saturated). Floor lamp pre-amplification delivers a warm and rich in harmony. The Overdrive channel is not used because of saturation juser a little tougher and it is easier to settle on a clear channel rather quune saturated channel.
Excellent value for money. Intermediate between the all-tube and transistors (MGX Series with its cold and linear). I do it again without hesitation that choice - very good compromise lamp / transistor consider leaving the acquisition of a head AVT150 to repeat in the studio and on stage.

    SOUNDS

I use it for a year with a Mexican Start and a pedal boss ME 50 (See my profile). I think this amp works very well for clean sounds, it is relatively accurate and colorful, increasing the gain, you get a crunch sound correct, however I am somewhat disappointed by the overdrive channel that sounds a bit too transistor to my taste but there is even a way to find any adjustment not too bad, after all it's tastes ... I just bought an sg standard, it sounds much better now already in with the strat disto. There are ways to boost a little by inserting a distortion pedal between guitar and amp input for a disto "heavier".

    OVERALL OPINION

Despite a slight disappointment with regard to the overdrive channel, I think AVT50 my opinion is a good compromise between the transistor and the whole lamp, after all depends on the style of music you want to play: for all sounds clear gender funk chorus sounds so it's ideal, to rock a bit but it's going to nag after to the metal I dunno ... I've never try to make the scene, I did that the home studio so I use the exit "line out" of the amp that I plug my PC directly to my records and I am quite happy with the result ...
