Pasadena Lap Steel

The Schwarz Pasadena is a modern made lap steel guitar, one of the only models currently offered by Fender. For a Fender product, this was overall somewhat of a disappointment for me. I was expecting something similar to the vintage Fender lap steels, and this is just not the case here. The steel has a single coil pick up, with volume and tone controls for it.


UTILIZATION

Playing the Schwarz Pasadena isn't really the problem with this instrument as it plays just fine. While I'm not the most experienced lap steel player, I have been playing for a few years and know enough to know the difference between a good and bad steel. I find that the Schwarz Pasadena is easy enough to play and to control your tone. The weight is a little heavy for a lap steel, but isn't too bad at all.


SOUNDS

The sound of the Schwarz Pasadena is where I find it to be disappointing. I've used the steel with a 1976 Fender Twin Reverb amplifier and both a Ibanez Tube Screamer and a Boss CS-3 compressor. I always use a compressor with a lap steel, as it really helps to sustain your sound. However, I found that the Schwarz Pasadena doesn't cut through as well as I would have lacked. It lacks a certain fullness and strength that I look for a in lap steel guitar. While it will certainly get the job done in a lot of situations, for the price, this just doesn't sound as good as it should...


OVERALL OPINION

I wouldn't be as down on the Schwarz Pasadena as I am if it wasn't for the price. This is a decent , but with a price like this, I was expecting a much more refined and better sounding instrument. I feel like you can get a lap steel just as good for a few hundred dollars less without the Fender name on it. It is always surprising when you see an instrument from Fender that isn't up to par, but for me this is the case with the Schwarz Pasadena .

tailpiece and bridge are like "gibson" for the rest of the lap steel is standard and simple.
the wiring seems strange tonalitée two buttons have the same effect?! (The exotic touch) and a volume. 2nd étrangetée: the button has three positions which has no effect?! it is my misters ...

UTILIZATION

freights are drawn on the handle but no den, cella can generate. the weight is normal, heavy and flat, ca is placed on knees with relative stabilitée.

SOUNDS

The slide is the only possible use, but the possibilities are vast. The sounds of going "crillard" to the "whooping" and half way there is worth sounds interesting. I like it "pile pile" at the limit of the cavernous, just before it gets too much!? Oops!
I board an amp that'll Loint saturation, very Loint or using a pedal. example my vox AC30 CC2x to do, the sound is relatively clear-crunch blues-and no more will require more grain to the way Hughes and Kettner or mesa.

OVERALL OPINION

2 days of use before I book a standard guitar to cella, but a lap steel top is from a guitar. it does not touch the frets with the slide bar and the sound is much better, although I'm extremely severe in my judgments, there is no comparison.
Fishing is a microphone (it's bad qualitée)
mechanics of the string bass is a bit hard, but hey!

We can already use it like that and expect to finance the traveaux, but I tend innévitable pence that the database is bonne.on can have a good instrument for less than € 200 all inclusive.
my score is good because it offers the possibilitée for cheap, you correct the instrument with a microphone, a platter you customize stuff, a very good base.
the ratio Q / P is exellent
