    all purpose microphone

    AKG C 214Published on 10/14/12 at 22:13
The AKG C214 is a large diaphragm condenser microphone that comes with a respected price tag. The Polar pattern is cardioid and the frequency range is 20 to 20,000 Hz. It has a standard 3 pin XLR input/cable, it does require phantom power due to the fact it’s a condenser. The AKG C214 was a major upgrade for myself and other artist that use this microphone in my personal studio. It has completely stepped up the recording quality for us. I have been using this microphone now since March of 2010 and will continue to use it to this day as one of the main microphones in my set up. It has a low cut filter (160 Hz, 6dB) and that is switchable.

    OVERALL OPINION

The AKG C214 comes with a wind screen, suspension mount, and carrying case. The microphone is made out of solid materials and has a nice feel and weight to it. It seems to be well built and though I have never dropped it or anything close to that, I don’t think a drop or fall could hurt it any or even dent the double mesh grill. This microphone sounds great on vocals, brass instruments and some string instruments including guitars running through amps.

You can use the AKG C214 as a live microphone or a studio microphone. I have heard in a live club and it sounded amazing. But we only use it to record with. The AKG C214 is a well rounded do it all type of microphone that any studio owner must invest in. It will never hurt to have a microphone on hand that can take anything that you throw at it. The sound quality is amazing and it is a very affordable microphone, I am actually still thinking about buying another one when I see one on eBay for cheap then I can get rid of one of the MXL microphones and replace it with the AKG C214. I wouldn’t mind having a studio full of these microphones!

    See below.

delivered in a suitcase with a good quality anti vibration support.
    This mic seems very solid.
Use only cardioid (the difference with the 414, and which justifies its price). Use to be reserved for the home studio, so (in my case).

    OVERALL OPINION

    Used for a short month.
I had an AKG C2000B and two 451EB, and I tried other mics in the studio.
Compared to C2000B, it is clearly a step up.
On the one hand, the sound is deeper, richer, while remaining as clear. The sound is also wider. Now I understand why everyone was so emphatic about 414 C!
The pressure that can be applied before saturation is also impressive (obviously, with a membrane "...)

Tried with a guitar, it sounds round, with a nice gloss, but no sound harsh (well, I must say that I have added a tube preamp TLA ivory).

I knew the C2000B was limited, but I realize now how.

Now I compare my records with professional recordings with much less shame :-)
The price / quality ratio peaked. AKG hits hard with a micro equivalent to 414 C for many uses less than 400 €.

Before long, such a micro no. It seems that a new market opens with microphones around the € 400, almost the same quality as the studio microphones, but limited in use patterns. Basically, the "professional" for the home studio.

I do not regret my purchase at all (in contrast), and strongly recommends the same.
I would however not able to offer it before because ... It has just been released!

I'm not 10, because it has no mode other than cardio.

    A future best seller.

Good manufacturing, cardioid only, small suitcase, suspension, it is lightweight and friendly

    OVERALL OPINION

I used about 4 pieces for guitar, I love, I do not think it's done to his voice, he has too much treble and not in trsdfinis m dium, I use it on 2mes voice is gnial, gives a lot of air and distance

micro trs brilliant (I chose to a), I compare my other micro MILABS VIP50 is a range well above (1200 euros all the same) and nothing see, The definition and depth. but the price to record guitars and voices can be fminines it's great. but honestly the voice is not Nirvana, I would say that it is a versatile micro (or so you have to play hard to qualizer). against it by the scale and flexibility in the attacks on mdiums guitar

(Fawn all I do not think the microphones versatile)

I'm happy with my purchase, the guitar made out well, bright and sharp prcis, mdiums flexible, the bass is the trs it can be brittle and stiff so it was not a lamp prampli . but the lamps are losing a lot of dtails

a good mic right even with its usefulness in a park with a report justifying qualitprix
APRS time I add another canvas because I bleuffe this microphone, I have a Neumann and a Brauner microphone and the less than 400 euros is still a place, I find it almost indispensable, it gives the brightness, can be superb exagrment but a lot of string instruments mtallique if we want them out of the mix, let me say that I use trs tr s often the instruments of ornamentation and even the choir because there is just enough in the rear and brings a lot.

on the other hand I will not take it as a primary or unique micro micro rle but in the latter, it is brilliant
