Condenser microphone

OVERALL OPINION

I use the microwave for 2 years. He is very strong, which would be perfect if it was thinner in the high mids and less harsh attacks on medium nylon guitar style, he seems to bring an unpleasant frequency (+ - 1500 Hz). It looks great, the suspension is perfect, but it would be when you mix in the micro "is there with the solution rather than part of the problem" ... The cutoff frequency is "radical." I plug it into a Mackie 1402-VLZ PRO and then enter a Korg D 1600.

I possde two of these pickups for about 6 years!
I've long used in over-head battery on Flte traversire, voice & guitar (acoustic & electric) for the home studio (Obviously) ...

O The only time I was truly enjoyable trs surprised c'tait into a power acoustic guitar recording on a multitrack Yamaha AW16G through a preamp ART.dsp. Of course, the guitar itself sounded good trs & guitarist knew how to do, but still, the dynamics & the warmth of this decision m'tonne!
Apart from this exception, I do not like this mic! I possde also, among other things, STUDIO PROJECTS TB1, and on a same outlet, your exact is obvious: my sound C2000B "cardboard" l o SP "shine" at the top of the spectrum. .. at least that's what I feel! It is, however, quite possible that with a good preamp or any other your exact ...

I use a pair of dsormais Oktava MK012 & a pair of Rode NT5 (depending on color research) for Over-Head Drums, & your exact is much better!
AKG C2000B my two are now under my snare drum for "chopper" stamp & in combination with a Shure SM57 or Beta57, flat well me your exact ...

PS: I put 5 / 10 because the elastic suspension with H100 book is of excellent quality and that this microphone is clearly built to last!

I find it quite versatile.

Used for over 5 years
At the time, there was no equivalent, especially in light of the suspension comes with (in neumann they sold the suspension at the same price in all AKG)
I used some other mics in studios, mainly neumann.
The quality / price ratio seemed exceptional, but in the meantime I guess things have progressed.

In the studio we made measurements to compare it to a Neumann U87. Some speak of heresy ...
Level neutrality: the AKG has, as many have said before, a lump in the upper. A characteristic of AKG looks like (I have a pair of 451 that have roughly the same answer). Otherwise, it's an almost absolute flatness!
Neumann is very flat. No surprise then!
S / N ratio: neumann advantage, of course.

Then we did a blind test, by adjusting the equalizer for the two are comparable.
Surprise ... We had a hard time distinguishing between the two ...
Really wrong.
So, I do not really understand the comments about the "cardboard". It must be said that has used pop filter for testing
Still, the signal / noise ratio is very critical, and condemns the microphone for studio use to me.

At the time, the only competitor was the Rode NT1, really worse. Today, I do not know the state of the art market.

EDIT: I offered an AKG C214. And I realized the gap between a micro really mid-range to high-end microphone.
It's a choice I would do it today, although I do not regret the IEA at the time.
