Epiphone Les Paul Deluxe

Epiphone Les Paul DeluxePublished on 01/25/04 at 15:00
I haven't been playing very long, but after a few months, I realized that I was learning pretty fast and it was suggested that if I had the chance, to buy an electric guitar. I knew I liked the look of the Les Paul guitars over Strats and other types of guitars, so when I was browsing Ebay and came across this beauty, it was perfect. I paid about $310 for the guitar which was actually a pretty good deal since I'm told by friends it can run from $500-600.

I love the sound of this guitar! The pickups are really nice, easily up to par with its Gibson Les Paul counterparts. It has a nice smoothe tone, perfect for blues, jazz, or what I usually use it for, SKA! On the other hand, this baby can screem when the distortion is turned way up, very nice for rock, punk... Or ska again! Its very easy to switch through the pickups with a little switch thats clearly labled Rhythm and Treble.
The action is really nice and the frets are nicely spaced apart and give more than enough room for fast picking and sliding, hammering, pulling off... just about everything very comfortably.
The weight of the guitar is very nice, it is well balanced and easy to play, but can also be a little bit of a hassle, but I'll get into that a little later.
This is the best beginner/intermediate guitar that I can think of. I know that I will be playing this for years to come.

One of the first things that people will tell you about the Les Paul is the weight of the guitar. Sure, after awhile, it can get a little uncomfortable, but just shift your strap a bit, and continue rocking out! So overall, its really not that much of a problem.

Construction quality is top notch. Why pay hundreds of dollars more for a Gibson Les Paul, when you could just buy an Epiphone, which is essentially the same thing, and a nice amp and pedal instead? In the end, you are just paying more for a name and better pickups. If you have the urge, you can get the pickups replaced, but trust me, this guitar is perfect already.

If you have the chance, get this guitar. You won't regret it!
