OVERALL OPINION

Since 2006, I have others and I tried a lot.
I bought this guitar in 1984 that we stole it that I notice a model of 1978, and since I played on other guitars and I finally make up my mind I ordered a to Paris and I waited almost 6 months to get it and I am very disappointed, because the problem of "microphonic" kept me up sound and I ended up going to a luthier and then spend 80 € varnished which is poorly done besides every 3 years must go through the box maker to correct the handle and I wonder if we did not sell me a Chinese version at the importer Gibson Pigalle (I even the certificate that comes with it). this is a guitar that I like and it sounds pretty nice to play whatever the handle a little big for my taste (1950).
Brief view of the problems I will never buy a new guibson if I want vraiement it will be one of 70 see 80.

UTILIZATION

By the time I bought this guitar cost 4500 euros. I decided to buy it on a website for U.S. $ 2500 or Euro 2000 at the time.
Sure, it's not serious to buy a guitar without trying it before but for 2500 euros less, there was something to try.
I received the certificate with Custom Shop, who confirmed that the guitar was set and optimized before being sent to the store.
Here is a list of different problems:
- Handle very dug (set in DNG)
- Approximate Intonation (set in the same luthier)
- Mechanical Loose.
- Badly cut nut (with the little "clicks" in the tuning of the strings of Sol and Si)
- Problems of mass and therefore welding resulting in a crackling sound.

The finish is very bad for the price. There are still traces of red paint under the black paint makes small bumps to the head (which is not very nice in-game). A small piece was removed under the biding at 1 / 4 of the handle. I think that over time, it is all part of the paint on the handle which can be removed.

SOUNDS

In terms of sound, the Custom is very interesting for the professional musician. With the master volume and tone possibilities are numerous and more subtle than it seems.
I use on stage a Musicman Luke for reasons of convenience (and mechanical self-locking tremolo, humbucker for the bridge pickup and simpler for the neck pickup), but at the sound, the Custom drives, it sounds "organic" is a real guitar, seriously. The Luke looks like a toy next to it.
You can spend much of the true jazz to round felted metal purist "tight" with no problems. The ebony fingerboard adds a nice compression while being in a rock edge.

OVERALL OPINION

The Custom of the 2000s (Gibson and in general) are not worth their price. It is unfortunate that Gibson takes over as seriously its customers than before.
The guitar I received was not worth 1000 euros, 3500 euros to pay more just for a brand is too much.
If I had to make another purchase of this type, I would look more towards the PRS or Musicman instruments that produce quality and sounding better and better.

Subjective approach:
Guitar flash away from dj trs. She is the one that caught my eye the most. The varnish is beautiful even if I notice a default on the edge of opening. On her sister (short on custom which was his right) is a default in the binding tape to me the eye (the raw wood is visible on some millimtres places. Forget that guitar is worth 6,000 Swiss potatoes. The price of a Tokyo travel round trip with a night in a hot club and champagne wealth ... a little light when se.

Note also that the handle "deep joint, long tenon," naturally absent on this guitar is an option rarely found on custom sold in Europe and which currency the price of gold. It is the only condition that would have really THE sound of Gibson's era.

UTILIZATION

The grip of the handle is enjoyable and the work of frets is excellent. No-matter how little frieze agree that we want to tackle. SOUNDS

We come in really INTERESTED. A blank, I note a lightweight hollow in frquences low. I barely hear the sound effect of sixime rope. This should be a factor voluntary. The sound has a lot of roundness and sweetness. For cons, the sound does not have power, which, I must admit, surprised me. Once plugged into an amp in clean, the guitar is Drout. The sound is warm with the body. It is a rgal. In this register, this instrument excels and offers sound it is the only offer. We can even say more transparent. The clean is just bright and Irad littralement the pice. Absolute excellence.

In the bluesy crunch, the saccharine pop and vintage records, the guitar shows that it is "the benchmark for all". We realize it is the direct progeny of a family of instruments that we have all heard on an album or another. In this exercise, the guitar MRIT also noted for excellence.

By pushing the saturation, I do more. The sound is not nominally bad, but it lacks something that I am unable to dcrire into words. I would say that I get is too tight and not really adapted to this exercise.
