How does it sound?
With the original pickups, the guitar sounds good for big rock: very fat neck pickup, high-gain bridge pickup. It has the Tremonti sound...
Personally, I customized it a bit:
-- I replaced the bridge pickup with a DiMarzio Virtual PAF (DP197). It delivers a creamy and smooth clean sound, a slight angrily crunch and and a vintage distortion... The dynamic response is good... I fell in love with this pickup!!!!!!
-- I replaced the bridge pickup with a DiMarzio Humbucker From Hell (DP156) that produces an aggressive and metallic distortion sound.
-- The original pots had a very poor quality. I replaced them with push/pull versions to get two splits. The result is a very versatile guitar with single-coil or humbucker, depending on my needs.
-- The original tuners were not very reliable with strong bends so I replaced them with Spertzel locking tuners.
These improvements made it the perfect guitar. It makes the instrument more expensive but it was worth it, trust me!!!
The original instrument is a very good basis, so the modifications are useful.
OVERALL OPINION
I've been using it for 2.5 years and I love it!
I tried many guitars from Ibanez and Yamaha but this one is really awesome.
Cons? It's not perfectly well balanced, the connector is a bit cheap, the original controls and machine heads.
Pros: nice look, very pleasant neck, great manufacturing quality considering the price.
I give the original 8/10 and 11/10 to the customized version!!
So yes, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.
