OVERALL OPINION

This pedal is the Swiss Army knife of Boss.
Two important things:

1. The general configuration is simple and you will need to equip yourself with a sheet and a pen to remember settings (at the beginning).
2. This pedal is the gral saint of lovers rock (broadly defined).

I can get three types of delay, a detune a "spatio-psychedelic" effects, chorus, three pitch shifter, and a reverse mode 11 can either have a whammy (via roland ev-5 ) is a "distortion."

Let me explain, if you have a distortion and you snap mode 11, you will act directly on your distortion, with the ability to slightly thicken your sound, see the complete change.

I hallucinated when I discovered it, because I think it was not the original purpose sought by engineers Boss.

This pedal also allows you to experiment with the pitch-shifter that come in extreme settings improbable sounds (what I called the spatio-psychedelic ') but which requires turning the knobs.

The detune and chorus works beautifully arpeggio.
The reverse is ideal for a saturation of 70 very solos.
I use pitch-shifters only the octave arpeggios or solo.

Finally, delays (short, medium, long) are very comprehensive and we also allow for experimentation by turning the knobs.

Icing on the cake, adding an expression pedal Roland EV-5 also allows you to simulate a Whammy.

To summarize, this is the only boss pedal that brings much effect in one pedal!

Clarification, it's still a Boss, so fans warm delay or vintage effects, go your way, here it is straight, neutral and efficient!

UTILIZATION

I use it with a guitar. This pedal is great! Well ok I have never compared with others within the brand, but the time has everything you could ask a time. So this pedal is a full time and also a pitch-shifter/harmoniseur etc. offering all effects as crazy as each other! Some are dificil integrated into components, but they are quite novel (this period is + in + pitch with each repetition of the time). OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 3 years. I love everything about this pedal, the only thing annoying is that you would use any methods but remember the settings, even when feasible.
The top value for money is, this pedal is little known and yet it has several modes that makes both one time or one pitch shite. While it is not as complete, if we add the price of PS5 and delay equivalent bang for 2 times more, then why not? I remake this choice because if one day you're tired of the pitch, you can rave with the time, ca totu for the same price as seulles pedal. Even if I play more and more rarely Gratten I do not separate them

Digital delay with tied in pitch shifting capabilities. Standard boss construction of a rock solid stomp box, 1/4" input, 1/4" stereo outputs, 1/4" expression pedal input, four parameter knobs, and 9v DC input jack. There are 12 different modes with varying levels of delay time and pitch shifting.

UTILIZATION

This sets up just like any other boss pedal out there. Plug in your standard cables, get some power, and start turning knobs. The manual is good enough to explain which modes do what and give you an idea how the knobs interact with each other. The fact that the knobs interact with each other does make it more of something you have to play around with to completely grasp.

SOUND QUALITY

I use this in a guitar set up but have also had good results with synths. Like all boss pedals the bypass is buffered which seems to be a subject of great discussion with guitar players. I'm of the belief that having a couple boss stomps in your chain is not going to destroy your tone and for some can actually improve it by helping your signal carry through the rest of your cabling.

Most people buy this pedal for the Mode 7 which is an odd mix of reverse delay and pitch shifting. It really is a unique sound that I have not been able to create with other boxes. It is similar to the eventide crystals sounds but a bit more glitchy and not as smooth sounding. The majority of the time I see people use it they have the feedback and time knobs cranked but for me it's the in between sounds that are more interesting. You can get many different intervals all the way to +/- 2 octaves or no pitch shifting at all. The other non pitch shifting delays are okay but sterile. They don't have any warmth or character to them so for me they are not very useable.

OVERALL OPINION

This pedal is geared more towards the noise, massive effect crowd. I actually got it from a friend who said he could not understand why anyone would use it. The regular delays are boring and easily outdone by any of the other boss delay pedals. The one big downside to this pedal is the lack of adjustment to the user. The knobs are tied in together so increasing the delay time also changes the pitch shift. I really wish they could be controlled independently but I have learned to live with it.

The used price is also one of those funny things where the item did not sell so it was discontinued and now for some reason it's more desirable and commands high prices. If I saw another pop up for 100$ or so I would grab it in case this one ever breaks. I don't think boss will service it and ,like I said I, can't get the sounds I use out of any other box.

UTILIZATION

No need for manual, it is very easy to use. The settings are simple.

SOUND QUALITY

I use my pedals on synthesizers (digital and analog). I sometimes use the detune and pitch shift effects, and for some rhythm parts. But the major part of the time I use it for its delay that I like.

OVERALL OPINION

I use this pedal for many years. Some effects like pitch shift and detune are "psychedelics." Fun with time but was very quickly made the turn! However, as I said above, I appreciate that the delay pedal. I had an Echo # 1 at EHX; I sold quite quickly because I liked the boss for these delays more "present".
