Hoxtonowl, a new collective project, will launch on May 30th a crowdfunding campaign on KickStarter for a new programable effect pedal.

The team that created the OWL includes four musicians and audio/electronic engineers, and you may know some of them for their participation/creation of the BlipBox or the french AudioGaming company.

The pedal is a hardware and software open source which allows any programmer to reconfigure the pedal, using C++ code.

But if you’re not familiar with programming, it will also be possible to download and/or modify effects in order to customize the pedal. Hoxtonowl announces that an online community will soon open in order to exchange patches, tips, setups and more.

The pedal features standard jack input and output, a mini-USB port to load the patches, 4 assignable knobs, a bypass footswitch and a 9V DC power supply connector. Depending on the funding, additional features may be implemented, including stereo inputs and outputs, USB MIDI, expression pedal/external switch input, etc.

You can fund this new OWL project on KickStarter starting May 30th and for 34 days. 50 pedals will be available for £165, 100 more for £195 and the production run will retail for £220. The first pedals will start to ship in october. You’ll find more info about this project on hoxtonowl.com.
