Loving the mustang

Fender Mustang IIIPublished on 10/25/11 at 22:18
First of all, the is a lot larger than I expected, the picture doesn't really do it justice. It is a really great looking amp, but more importantly is the sound. I have played several other amps (Fenders Marshalls and Oranges mainly) and as far as sound quality goes, this one definitely holds up. It has built in amp modeling so it can make itself sound like some really popular and vintage amps. These modeling are definitely accurate as far as tone and other specificities that each amp holds, but of course it isn't able to make a perfect match.

UTILIZATION

Everything with this amp suits my needs in amps. I love the mustang!

SOUNDS

I have not seen a solid state amp with the feel and tone that this gem has. Including line6,vox valvetronics,Fender CyberTwin,Peavey Vypyr, boss GT10, digitech GSP1101, Johnson and Rp series. I can go on and on, I have owned them all, accept the "Fabled" Fractal Audio Axe-Fxe Ultra, which maybe someday I'll have to end all this gas madness. For right now I love this little mustang and it works like a champ at my band rehearsals and live gigs with a mic in front of it, wall of sound

OVERALL OPINION

However, these sounds are very high quality, and in my opinion, they sound great. At first it does sound like a really nice tube amp, but a well experienced ear can probably tell the difference. But that isn't to say that it isn't a nice amp, especially for the cost. Additionally, it has a wide variety of effects that really add a lot to it and are equally very high quality, and the fact that you completely customize each really sells me on it. I can't say anything about reliability really because I haven't had it for long at all, but I can say it is very well constructed and I am expecting it to last very long. The controls are all easy to use (and actually make sense) and it is able to get very loud. All around a superb purchase

great amp , must try

Fender Mustang IIIPublished on 10/04/11 at 20:46
I am one guy that must of brought 15 different amp for my home use none please me peavey vypred vox valvetronix and crappy Marshall MG none did the job for home. three years looking read about this amp and said let me give it a try. Got the mustang ll and it was amazing so I decided to upgrade too the lll series blown me away because of the versatility. You can tweak any amp model the way you like set it and just select any amp model from bassman to deluxe twin with the same tweak that you set. So much you can do with this amp.

UTILIZATION

Manual is very clear and concise.

SOUNDS

The sound is fantastic. Had tube amps for home use I hate them to loud and you lower them because they are tube can't get the full tone you want especially if you want a smooth sound. Lower watts tube amps tend to break up sooner or rather say crunch cause you have little headroom.

OVERALL OPINION

Overall, This amp does it all since it's analog pretty close to tube sound. Try one for house you will be the happiest person .The only downside I can think of is the volume difference between overdriven amp presets and clean presets. The clean presets are quieter, even after making adjustments in the various presets. I have a volume pedal in the FX loop and that takes care of the issue. But, What a great value. If you're in a cover band, or just want a powerful and flexible amp this is absolutely worth a look. Try it. You'll like it. And you'll almost certainly buy it. I have many other amps, but this, and my Vox Night Train, are my absolute favorites. All in all, I have absolutely no regrets about this purchase. If you're on the fence about whether or not to get a Mustang, I would say go for it....you won't regret it!

EEhhhh not great

Fender Mustang IIIPublished on 04/19/11 at 10:24
This sucker is loud! Coming in at 100 watts with a 1x12 speaker this thing is going to knock you over. But at 17 lbs is won't break your back. Very light weight but very loud.

I'm not a fan of amp modeling of any kind. I can't stand Axe FX and they are supposed to be the best in the business. So I'm just not a fan of the feel and tone. However, I don't look at these amps as anything but practice amps.

SOUNDS

One thing Fender is known for is having probably the best clean tones on the planet. hey don't excel at high gain tones in any way. So I'm lean towards the cleaner side of the options for this amp. Actually most of the amp modeling is done for the 60's fender amps. They take up most of the room on the amp modeling.

I would suggest playing a Fender Strat or Tele with this amp since most of the sounds are on the cleaner towards bluesier side of rock music. You can use a SuperStrat, Les Paul, or another humbucking style guitar and switch it over to the British Steal amp modeling and you can guess what that is modeled off of. This sounds the best in my opinion of the dirtier channels.

Another good sounding model is the Tight Metal preset which sounds a bit more beef and thicker. More for the chugga chugga style playing.

OVERALL OPINION

It comes with software that you can put on computer and play along with MP3 but also to edit all the preset that are on the amplifier. So if you hook it up via USB and you can edit all you amps features via the computer screen which shows the look of the amp it is modeled off of.

I would recommend this to any player who wants to use a practice amp and needs to have all amps and all effects in one convenient unit. At new they come in at around $300.

Once these considerations taken into account, pleasant modelaisations are failing to be realistic as can be a good tube amp. I could try ENGL Thunder recement on toyt this is quie blues, rock, metal. ay there is no picture anyway. not the same dynamic. on the other hand it costs 3 Xle price is not as versatile.
Transistoirs a super short amp modeling, good power, a low utilsatble listen.
My modeling prefrees: country, bassman drive, aussie rock, those mimicking the supersonic crack. others are good, there is little dechet in my opinion, that is a very good

OVERALL OPINION

very satisfied. can be enormously with all things without being ridiculous and very comfortable (with both 2btn + 4 btn footswitch optional). Too bad they have not planned to take the new expression pedal that can rajoutter the Mustang fllor
