Features: Four amp models (Clean, Crunch, Metal, Insane with each being programmable), 6 effects with two used simultaneously (one of flanger, phaser, or tremolo, one of sweep echo, tape echo, or reverb), tap button for setting delay, input jack for MP3 or CD player, headphone jack, 1x12' Celestion, 30w.

My profile: Eclectic guitarist from Southwestern Pennsylvania specializing in jazz, rockabilly, swing, classic country, alt-country, and punk/new wave.

Purchased this amp because my gig amp was packed in a van and my practice amp was in the shop. Bernie at Larry's Music Center (Greene County, near Carmichaels) made me a deal that I couldn't refuse ($85), so it went home with me. This unit does seem to be discontinued.

It does what it says on the tin: 30w, decent 12' speaker, a couple of effects, and a few different amp models. I use it most for the MP3 player input and the headphone jack -- I can pick along with Don Rich or Wes Montgomery with neither my girlfriend nor the cats being any the wiser. The reverb is warm and retro and I probably overuse it.

Of the four amp models I use a total of one (Clean). The others are a bit too harsh for my style, particularly since I use single coil pickups (the Insane setting is so over-the-top that it becomes fun, though). The tremolo setting is a bit too dynamic and could stand some subtlety.

It is well built and I've had no problems with the unit, despite dropping it down a flight of stairs and the constant cat attacks on the power cord.

A fine, inexpensive, and useful amp for silent practice or just noodling around. For a fun setting try Clean channel, Bass on 10, Mid on 10, Treble on 5, and Master Volume on 10. Adjust your level with the Drive knob and fine-tune with the Mid control.

30 watt transistor amp ... He potato. I never had to push very far the volume knob (must also say that I play in my room: p). 6 Intgr effects, one can mix two once, I use personal trs little (I find a little gadget) except for the sweep / tape echo from time to time and reverb that I uses it a lot. They can also be via a CONTRL PDAL I did not. The amp is sturdy, the knobs of good quality trs.

Regarding connectivity, the possibility to connect an external source (CD player, or even between the PC via mini-jack) came in handy. If not, well, between a skyscraper ct output of the other. : P

UTILIZATION

Trs easy to use ... Hardly need the manual except for functions caches (a noise gate, and a boost of distortion - by the way, I have not seen a big diffrence). It's pretty simple to find the sound you want. A few times by turning on the amp, I had a "bug" (impossibility to change MODEL amp) but in dyeing and on again, no problem.

SOUNDS

We are dealing amp for beginners, so I knew when you buy that I will not sound fantastic. FYI, I use it with an Ibanez RGR321EX. In fact, this amp combines the good and bad. In clean, no worries. Modlisation the "crunch" is not bad either, only problem, even the distortion grows back, it still lacks a bit. But that's okay. However, the amp MODEL "mtal" is trsdcevant. The sound is rather flat, cold, lack a bit of distortion too ... To me who only plays the mtal, could be a real handicap or ... The MODEL amp "insane" is gnial. : D For me it is what really makes the quality of the Spider III. Playing with rglages can be obtained trs large variety of sound with this modlisation. Well, a still sounds a little cold, metal, etc.. but should not RVer for a transistor amplifier and the price is pretty terrible. : P

OVERALL OPINION

I recently started using a prs year. I bought it as the way beginners, based on my opinions read, CHARACTERISTICS, etc.. Without having tried neither he nor other models. APRS time, my opinion is mixed: a good amp, trs not expensive to get out a big sound mtal is what I was looking for, however j'esprais a little more versatility and sounds better to play softer.

In terms of quality-price ratio, I can hardly speak but I will say "good no more." Finally I told myself that if we have a limited budget and that beginners, is better to take an amp like the Roland 100 euros micro-cube (a forcment will be a temporary solution). And with a bigger budget, invest in an amp worthy of the name + effects pedals. Ultimately, if beginners but we play right away in a group, this amp can be a solution INTERESTED.

UTILIZATION

The strength of this amp is that it does not take himself in the head rglages, four types of sounds (clean, crunch, metal & insane) but really quite DIFFERENT Ingala ( I will return).
Some effects are cumulative and may be on offer with diffrent toffe reverb to the sound a bit.
The sounds can then be obtained by simply holding a stock of four buttons, difficult to make it easier to use.

SOUNDS

Let's review the sounds on offer DIFFERENT:

Clean
We Get You Started smooth, clear sound with no dplaisant, plutt neutral but is usable for crystalline sound.

Crunch
This channel is much less convincing, trs bland and cold ...

Metal
And the drama is ... What is the distortion? the lack of bass and do not punch DGIG, way too clean to draw anything in the registry that is supposed to cover.

Insane
Wow, what a transition, moving from one extreme to another! The last channel is over-saturated that it seems also have t boosts the treble. The effect is pleasant on the spot but soon realizes that the rendering is too rough to be exploitable, the limit for the black metal ... Trs really irritating!

OVERALL OPINION

J'apprciais much this amp when I started using it, but its intrt shrinking fast, are really too messy distos / too bland, even when it is a height of not reaching a compromise on an amp modlisation!
I replaced it with a Peavey VYPYR.

I use it for 6 months now, with a pdalier FBV4 I used with my spider deuxime 120 version (it's always nice when a compatible gnration the other).
No tuner, tape delay is not mandatory and the other is a shame.
4 sounds a little while still covering.
Stereo AUX IN which is controlled by the master volume and trs is good. As against the headphone is mono and it's a shame.
Speaker 12 inch 4 ohm pouvantable a platitude, with it all sounds bad.
No background noise, zero, gnial to be left on all the time.

UTILIZATION

Simple to use, and pdalier FBV4 is really a plus (ACCS direct sounds and tap tempo for the delay). The chorus is zero rgler, chandeliers made from line6.
Functions caches, and boost noisegate are useful and effective.
Do not use if you put a boost pedals before the amp, and I screwed up one (a spider 2 75w).
We must change the hp if you want a nice sound, celestion home is a horror.

SOUNDS

Once this virtual hp (I put a style in vintage30, 8 ohms but the volume has increased significantly even when) we can measure the quality of this spider tural 3, and compared it to two Retailer cooler and more prcis, much better.
We must express in fact, my best sounds are a blues power on channel ing insane drive for example, clean the rest, but the crunch in her cleat gives a great vintage marshall pushed in the next del on the metal gives it a max for tight and hard rhythmic compresses the right thing.
So I reversed crunch and insane in my use of this amp, if you want.
I prcise hp with the original ben doing anything, never sharp enough or not fresh and the dynamics at all, not to punch anything.

OVERALL OPINION

I had an ide to change the hp APRS branch have the spider on a 412, Sidrat and everything!
When the bin is 8 ohms is not a problem given the efficiency of HP vintage30 style, no warning. Cel said it's an amp so we work not drive home. At the local, connect a 4 ohm 4x12 and frankly there is enough juice to ensure RPET (except the drummer amplifier but you leave the field of support for all fawns).
In short a nice product but too expensive with his pdalier plus another hp.
I got the roland cube (20x, 30.60) and you can not compare it's just not the same type of product. I find spider3 more fun, less clinical, but the cubes are ultrasolides and effective in all circumstances, take the time to try before buying.

My advice for last: given the price of 200 euros demand for the spider or its direct competitors, put 50 more and buy a tube Fame VS30 all that sounds really ten notches above those toys.

This 30W amp features 4 amp models, an input jack output for headphones or recording and a port for expression pedal.

UTILIZATION

The strength of this amp hand over some competitors, it is plug and play side, the possibilities are certainly limited, but the amp and the settings are very intuitive, no-brainer in sight.
The ability to save a setting for each channel is very useful, but it's a bare minimum a real plus.

SOUNDS

I mainly play metal, I bought this amp because it offers several models typed "hard". But let's review all the models:
- Clean: nothing transcendent, clear sound without character, functional but not exactly beautiful either.
- Crunch: It's not my favorite record at the ear that sounds pretty cold, I do am not retarded.
- Metal: we come to get serious, this channel is a generous distortion, similar to that used by some groups of heavy, the sound lacks a little low but still usable, less gritty than many pedals available on the market.
- Insane: A very high gain saturated distortion, it exudes a certain aggressiveness on the other hand careful not too push the gain, otherwise the sound becomes too confusing, this channel that I use primarily to provide low good rhythmic palm mute.

I do not like the effects, as often on modeling amps, you can feel the synthetic side, I'm just a little reverb.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for several years, overall the sounds are below the Vypyr of Peavy, on the other hand is much more robust and are not lost in the settings.
The sound is generally quite cold but can make the case to begin or in some records (metal if you stay reasonable on the level of distortion).
