    free, efficient, complete ...

Linux KXStudioPublished on 04/23/11 at 04:04
(This content has been automatically translated from French)
Installation is no problem downloading and burning the DVD, insert and boot, then everything is guided in English ... however.
No bug on my Sony Vaio, nor on my old Toshiba laptop, or on the HP desktop or on the Toshiba Tecra.
I was able to install "dual" boot, in fact 6 different systems can start on some of my ordis.
The general configuration is prepared, no worries.
No inconsistency to date with hardware and software, except (and again) my Line6 Toneport, whose drivers are "owners to death" and Windows only.
There is no manual per se, we must have already installed one or more OS on computers to navigate really, but that understanding everything is clear.

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I installed it on different ordis: 3 laptops and one fixed. These range from Pentium III dual-processor 64 AMD.
with embedded sound cards, it runs well, but even better with the Alesis Multimix 4 USB, which is best known. Hard drives do not pose a problem, it goes from 80GB to 500GB, with usual speeds.
The system derivative of Ubuntu runs perfectly in near real time (kernel preempted and not "real time") on all machines, the configuration is stable, the many audio software installed in the default menu: in particular, under Jacqk Qjackctrl and everything that can go with more or less, sequencers (Rosegarden, Ardour, Hydrogen) effects (guitarix, VST support) and synths (Bristol Zyn. ..) and various accessories such more or less indispensable VU meters, tuners clocks.
We can turn over large mix without problems, even with a small machine.

    OVERALL OPINION

I tested several months ago, I did not uninstalled.
Like everything, I find it better to date qu'Ubuntustudio, 64 Musix studio or, more complete than Fedora, and stable enough to work on it seriously, knowing that I'm more DIY and professional sound.
A pound for: wineasio already installed the driver (allows tuorner Reaper on with Jack in real time) version of Audacity is compatible with jack too! !
A flat for a sort of humming or whistling with my console, but that disappears listen to tracks.
Value infinitely good: it costs nothing! !
With experience, I would do this choice, while keeping all other system used in parallel.
