- Windows Vista Home Premium edition pre-installed no pb, fluid etc.
- Dual core 1.7 GHz, 1 GB ram on a compaq laptop.
- Pleasant eye etc, the first approach, "visual" positive.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

- From the point of view against recognizing hard / soft antrieurement bought it problmatique.

- Pnible character as the confirmation of each action: Honestly it is stressful, one wonders if it was not a bad manipulation when it is "normal" in Vista

Effectus tests last night on the nine mobile (1 week) from my friend, bcp bcp pbs:
- Can not launch the app the Philips GoGear MP3 player compatible XP yet, new appliance I offered him! Fortunately, the soft WMP11 recognized j'tais if left for a refund of the MP3 player because of Vista! (Unit offered last night! Inquitude for a long time!)

After what I personally found last night, what I've read on Vista (PBS compatibility) is unfortunately true, I confirm! So I will stop XP has ... No choice ... All this is absolutely appalling. While using Wine or Cedega or Codeweavers, the Win apps run on Linux, Windows apps do not work on Windows ... the height of absurdity!

I urge those who want to still take a new PC with Vista, to make their apps with them for a test Prior store (not to mention the problems = increasing drivers, sound cards etc.) CAUTION.

Installation is relatively simple, especially compared to Windows XP. It is done automatically and quickly (between 20 and 40 minutes depending on the power of your PC). That said, of course, provide your drivers, since no material is detected after you install Vista, you have to install everything yourself, and it takes time counting the multiple restarts to perform ... So in total, allow a good hour just to install the OS and drivers (not including the installation of updates and software ...)

1.86GHz Core2Duo, 4GB RAM, SATA HDD 2x160Go (in RAID0), Geforce 8600GT.

Full installation of Vista was made in about 25 minutes: After installing the drivers and some software, the system we already feel terribly gets heavier.
After 1 month of use, the PC took longer to start 1mn30, despite the regular defrags. Besides the numerous crashes of the OS itself, or applications that he runs.
Vista alone consumes enormous resources, which partially paralyzed applications that require power (such as games or graphics software).
Finally, we end up with perfomances worthy of a PC with a single core Celeron and 256MB of ram ... spot the mistake!
Understand that Vista has not long turned on my PC, I soon reached me, which is quite demanding in terms of performance ...

I also also Vista on a Sony Vaio Laptop 2gb ram, pentium dual core, 160GB SATA 5400rpm HDD.
The OS has turned 2 weeks and generated: lousy battery life, processor and hard drive never at rest even when the PC does nothing, starting time of 3 minutes, and the same time to extinction.
Not to mention the fact that the opening of a cold stupid software like firefox, or even a single file, sometimes took more than 20 seconds. of anything ...
Then I went on this same laptop with a Linux distribution, I doubled the battery life and greatly increased PC performance.

OVERALL OPINION

I used it a few times, I still made the effort recently to test SP1 64-bit, very little change, this OS is still cumbersome, slow and annoying.

What is safe to have a config like mine if the OS eats half performance?! Well done Microsoft you have done hard on this one.

In short, if you want a slow, unstable, low réatif, that puts your latest config PC gamer for a poor miserable 5 years ago, take VISTA!

Otherwise, stay with XP or say bye bye to Microsoft to take on an operating system worthy of the name.
