UTILIZATION

Very simple, you press one turns, there is nothing complicated.

Most of the time I put Dist Level and 1/4 and Tone in the middle with my Les Paul .... it does wonders ....

UTILIZATION

Use-wise this is a basic OD pedal with some cool extra functionality. The OCD features standard volume, drive, and tone controls. On top of that you have a High Peak/Low Peak switch that gives you quite a bit of control over the voicing.
I’m a big fan of the enclosure, a few of the Fulltone stuff seem to be using them. Very sturdy and compact. Best of all, you don’t need a screwdriver to remove the bottom plate which is pretty handy.
Fulltone pedals handbuilt with quality components, no fear for the reliability with this one.


SOUND QUALITY

It sounds pretty unique, definitely not your standard TS based pedal. Fulltone have come up with something pretty cool in this one. The pedals response is very amp-like, driving harder as you dig in to the strings, much like the Catalinbread DLS or BJFE Honey Bee. It has QUITE a bit of gain on tap, especially in the high peak mode, and can get very gritty. The tone control is pretty powerful, and the HP/LP switch gives you further control over the pedal’s voicing.
Definitely works better as an actual drive pedal over a boost type application.


OVERALL OPINION

The Fulltone OCD is unique, highly responsive, reliable and cheap. Just about everything you want in a pedal. The sound itself seems to be a hit or miss pedal for a lot of people, with the V4 model taking some heat. But there’s definitely a reason this one has held the “flavor of the month” position a few times now. It sounds great, provides quite a bit of tonal versatility, and has a lot more gain on tap than your average OD pedal. It would not be my be-all-and-end-all drive pedal, but is definitely worth considering.

The Fulltone OCD is an analog overdrive/distortion pedal capable of subtle overdrive tones up to higher gain drive tones. This pedal is capable of producing overdrive unlike any other pedal I have ever heard.

UTILIZATION

The controls on the OCD are standard for this type of pedal; drive, level, and tone. The OCD also has a two way, mini-toggle switch for “HP,” or high power mode, and “LP,” or low power mode. Setting it to HP increases the gain and the highs, while LP produces less intense tones. The pedal is pretty self-explanatory on its own, but the manual does give a little insight to the controls and design.

SOUND QUALITY

I used this pedal with a Gibson Les Paul Traditional Standard and a Fender Super Reverb 4x10. I have never heard a pedal produce such a full, fat overdrive tone before. The OCD is very touch sensitive and reacts very well to changes in guitar volume. I found excellent tones across the entire sweep of the gain knob, and the tone knob was great at sculpting the highs. I did not get to use this pedal as a boost into an already distorted amp, but this pedal has a ton of output and would definitely drive a medium gain amp into high gain territory.

OVERALL OPINION

My favorite thing about the OCD is its creamy, never ending, violin-like sustain. Like other Fulltone pedals, the build quality and components are excellent. I compared this pedal to the Fulltone Fulldrive II Mosfet, which was equally amazing, but comparing these two pedals would be like comparing apples and oranges. The Fulldrive is a supped up TS-9 with a boost, and the OCD is a high gain overdrive pedal. Both are amazing for the money, but the OCD has a special mojo about it that speaks to me.

Where do I begin with this pedal. This is quite simply one of the best pedal you can buy on the market. The OCD stands for Obsessive Compulsive Drive. This pedal is made to high standards and is quite an inexpensive boutique pedal.

This pedal is good for slamming the front of your amp into high gain territory or just hitting it with some clean boost. Either way is equally spectacular.

UTILIZATION

The OCD pedal takes over where the tube screamer left off. Not only does this pedal make your amp bite more but it really spanks the front end giving it good saturated distortion. The tone is very fat and warm. It makes a Strat get a little beefier when plugged into a clean amp.

Pretty simple functions with only 3 knobs and one mini switch that controls the high and low peek voicings. Good for changing or tailoring the voicing to fit your needs or your amps needs.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound is spectacular with this pedal. The color of the tone and the versatility of the pedal makes this a standard in gear magazines must have pedals. There isn't a sound that I don't like in this pedal. It does all of it so well that it is hard to choose which setting I like best. If I had to pick, I would go with the clean boost setting which would be taking your gain to around 9:00 and you tone around noon and your level as desired and slam the front of a heavily overdriven amp.

Use this with a Strat and a Fender Deluxe and you'll have classic rock tones for days. Put it in front of a Marshall JCM800 with a Les Paul or a Charvel and you'll be cranking some heavy rock n roll tones.

OVERALL OPINION

At the price point this just makes sense. They come in at around $129 for a new one and knock off 40% for a used one in this market. And you don't even have to modify this pedal to get it to work. I give it a perfect for that reason alone. Being able to sound amazing at under $150 and be ready for stage use is a must own.

I recommend this pedal to any gigging guitarist and home player. This pedal will excite the dreamer guitar player for world changing tone. It is a blast to play and will be in my pedal hall of fame.
