The GT-OD is a compact-size overdrive pedal with metallic housing and green finish. 3 controls: Gain, output and tone. Analog pedal from the MXR Custom Shop. The unit is easy to use, to transport and to connect (except for the power supply socket) and it has a true bypass. Even without battery the sound goes through when it's turned off.

Doesn't slip on the ground. Seems to be robust.

UTILIZATION

Install a battery (you'll need a screwdriver), plug two cables, depress the footswitch (LED lights on) and get ready to be blown away!!!

SOUND QUALITY

What an overdrive! It has all the qualities of the mythic green pedal: warmth, character and that little something that makes it stand out: class. The sound comes bursting out of the amp.

The bass frequency range has more dynamics than an Ibanez. The tone and gain controls work accurately. With a clean channel you'll get the blues. It has a very powerful output so you get a killer sound with a lead channel, even with low gain you get a high output level. And it works with every amp, from the worst to the best. It faithfully reproduces the source signal and has an awesome sustain. It's a professional tool.

It's great to switch between rhythm and lead without having to switch amp channel. It produces an endless sustain. I compared it to a Fulltone OCD, which is a great overdrive pedal that sounds clearer and more vintage with an incredible accuracy but with a much lower output level. I daisy-chained both units, GT OD first (high output level, very low drive) and then the OCD... The SOUND was TERRIFIC for fat blues, rock and hard rock songs. When we put the Fulltone first the results were depressing!!!

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using it for 1 year and I take it everywhere. SRV, AC-DC, Santana, Gary Moore... there's nothing this pedal can't do.

It's a bit expensive but I sold my Ibanez TS since I bought it... It's a bomb!!!

UTILIZATION

Super simple ... 3 illustrements known knobs: Gain, Level and Tone. An LED, a stomp, and one in an out. more stripped not. SOUND QUALITY

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 2 years and this is the pedal that has never left my pedalboard (the Velcro is attached below). According to my "moods", I sometimes get a few pedals, put them back in the box for alternate with others. But it has never been this kind of whim on my part, it is essential for me.

SOUND QUALITY

I have an uncomplicated relationship with this effect. Sometimes I find it all the qualities, but most of the time I stay on my desperate hunger. I am an absolute fan of the MXR pedals and it is this which ultimately convinces me in the least. Not that the effect is not good, but obviously it is seldom that I am seeking. I would say it is a classic OD with recurring defects that I find all OD, with the notable exception of the fantastic Badass Modified OD of the same brand.
As almost all OD, I think the GT-OD crashes too the note played solo, leaving him no time to "live" fully. And rhythm, his character a bit "deaf" does not suit me very rarely. While setting Tone proves effective, but it seems to me that the grain itself, I like also is thereby changed too. Yes, it is, without a doubt, a good pedal but does not fire in me that I find this match with all other MXR I have.

I have a Fairfield (terrible but does not everywhere ... too kind), a way huge pork (very good, but thicker, less sharp, more velvety overdrive ...), a boss (who sleeps long in its box). The Fulltone is actually more precise, clearer ... but suddenly a little more "agrssive".

I do not regret my purchase at all. especially for the price (50 euros) ... it is found on the new $ 99 net.
