It is true that this card is very good for music.
The only problem is motherboards for AMD, of course!
If you make music, do like me, buy any Intel (motherboard + processor).
This Saturday, May 11, I had to buy a set for Intel it works without problem.

What is also annoying, it is entered: while RCA is not great, it would have been better jacks!

UTILIZATION

We'll provide a picture of incompatibilities:

Motherboards based on VIA chipset, SIS and ALI NForce.
The AMD chipset is better supported but not yet mature, because all motherboards opting for this chipset also have a VIA chipset as a southbridge, which is annoying!

If you think about it, there are only Intel.

GETTING STARTED

Ah, drivers!

Sorry to say this, but the drivers are (forgive me the term employee) rotten!
The updates are almost obsolete.
Apparently, one could run 4 cards together, which is given but questions the drivers are not very stable, I do not see too much interest!

OVERALL OPINION

We will not spit in the soup, it's still a pretty good card when it works.

For my part, is what I wanted to buy. I called from the manufacturer, I have strongly discouraged because they had too many problems.
For roughly the same price, I buy a INCA88 and MIDITRACK2120 (MIDI daughter card) Brand Audiotrack - Egosys (support from Egosys). Very good card but it is similar, Intel takes everywhere!

Anyway, if you want to do it, better buy something that has always been consistent (INTEL) rather than buy AMD and back 15 times to customer service.

MIDI Setup:

Celeron 1 GHz or more (for mainly synths)
256 MB SDRAM PC133
ABIT or ASUS motherboard (premium quality) + Intel oblige!
Hard Disk ATA 100 GB 7200 20-30, it's enough.

+ Audio MIDI Setup:

Minimum PIII 900 Mhz (P4 is better, but more expensive)
256 MB SDRAM (If you buy a P4, take the Rambus)
ABIT motherboard ASUS or Intel chipset +
2 SCSI hard drives: a 9 GB for the system and the MIDI example + a 18 or 36 GB for recording audio.

(For cons do not rely on specific chipset, AC only works with the Intel!)
And if you have a machine and you still want to play games or others from time to time, do like me, buy a rack (a system on an internal hard drive and system on the rack). So if you want to play a game or go on the net, you just have to remove the rack, which comes much cheaper than having 2 computers!
