A huge improvement over the EP 1

Moog Music EP-2Published on 09/02/11 at 12:34
What I like most about this pedal is its overall vast improvements compared to its predecessor the EP-1. I own both and have pretty much shelved the EP-1 at this point do to the amount of noise and issues I have had with it. The EP-2 is a far superior pedal. The resistance of the pedal is much more sturdy and smooth. You also get an "expression" knob to adjust the level of expression from the pedal. Some of the Plastic elements found on the EP-1 have been replaced with metal which not only makes it feel better, but adds the much needed weight to prevent it from sliding away as easily. The cable that runs from the pedal has also been improved with a longer distance and a better overall cable (no plastic). As for things to dislike, I have heard enough users report that these pedals just don't last long. This is a big bummer as the build quality seems really good. Everything that Moog makes is of the highest quality, but unfortunately, they out source the construction of these pedals, which is why they aren't up to par with their other products. I paid $40 for this pedal and, as long as it keeps working, I will be extremely happy with it. I have used many different expression pedals out there and I would say that in quality this one ranks in around the middle, but at the same time, it costs much less than the other mid quality pedals so it gets a little bump for that. I actually own two of these and with the addition of the Moog Multi pedal (they actually make that one, but its 10 times more money) I can't imagine needing any more pedals at this point. I do recommend these.

Slightly better than the ep1

Moog Music EP-2Published on 04/28/11 at 08:06
The Moog ep2 is a slightly upgraded version of their original exp. pedal.

Black plastic housing with a metal base plate, attached stereo cable, and a knob to adjust the maximum sweep of thew pedal.
It is a similar design to the Ernie ball volume pedals using a small rope attached to the treadle that turns the potentiometer.

Not much to say here. Plug it into a Moog pedal and rock it back and forth to alter your sounds. The manual for the actually Moog effect pedal will tell you what to expect.

The bad:

The bad:
Being an avid Moog user I am disappointed in the build of these pedals. I owned the EP-1 and it was a piece of garbage so when Moog announced these I jumped on it and bought two. Out of the box they seem sturdier but then you realize it's only because they put a metal plate on the bottom to give the pedal some weight but it's still the same plastic design. If you've ever used an Ernie Ball VP you know what a sturdy pedal feels like. With EP2 you don't have that positive feel and it's easy to just push it at max and difficult to keep it somewhere in the middle. The treadle also has trouble staying up which can be remedied by tightening the nuts on the side but since it's plastic you just ended up warping the casing and are right back to where you started. Also the bottom of the pedal is not flush which makes it difficult to mount onto a pedal board. Most people I know use Velcro to attach their pedals which just does not work well with this.

The good:
The sweep adjustment knob is very nice. All of the knobs on Moog pedals have such a wide range that it's very rare I want to sweep through the entire thing. Having the knob allows you to make the pedal only operate to A certain range. The knob is placed great too just easy enough to get to without it being too easy that you hit it on accident.

expression pedal all trivial, precise, heavy (well weighted, Analog, a jack 6.5 (I also use it with my g-system tc electronic). The problem is the string (and I'm not exaggerating) that flip-flop connected to the electronic pedal (less than a year already broken). It speaks well of this legendary brand Moog is simply RIDICULOUS !!!!!

What an expression pedal ....

Totally disappointed, really expected better from a prestigious brand such as Moog.
I had to fix my pedal with a guitar string to replace the string string (string, string it's funny) which is originally used. Not really, although it is true that it is not expensive, still there are limits. …
