Amplitube LE comes with 14 different pre amps and 14 different EQ types. There are 6 really good microphone models that I loved in this plug in too! Amplitube LE has been out for a while now but I have only been using it or about a year now. I use it all of the time and it has never caused any issues or crash on me in either of my systems (PC or Mac). My Macbook has 512 MB of RAM and running OSX 10.6 and it runs fine but I do not think that you have to be running 10.6 to use it. On my Windows machine I am running XP with 256 MB of RAM and there are no issues there either. You can run Amplitube LE as a VST or RTAS for Pro Tools applications.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Installing Amplitube LE was simple, it took no effort at all and the manual that comes with it explains anything that the user could ever need to know. I love how many effects that I am able to get in this plug in, I mainly use it in Pro Tools just to put the final touches and effects on guitar tracks before doing the masters. There are a total of 21 stomp effects and I love every one of them, also I really like the 11 rack effects to.

OVERALL OPINION

The sounds that I am able to create with Amplitube LE are top notch, I have used just about any guitar plug ins imaginable and most of them are good but Amplitube outshines all of the them and it is very affordable as well. Some of the models that it is based off of are Marshall, mesa Boogie, Supro, Vox and Fender (plus more). Using this plug in, I can build my own custom amp any way that I want it. There are thousands upon thousands of different combinations that you can use and I have not even scratched the surface with them yet as I am just starting to fully dig deep into Amplitube LE. There are upgrades for it out now since it is an older version but for now I have no reason to upgrade it on my computer.

- Installation is a pain. Since it is a soft bundle in lots of entries and to return codes to activate the final. I know it's against copying but it is heavy. Bad point for that.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

- I use it on an A64 3000 + 1GB RAM E-MU0404
- It turns out very well and sounds, but also less clearly typed, its big brother the Amplitube. It is through simulations against HP that fish ... too empty, not enough fishing. But overall good with my EMU0404 (2ms latency ASIO AAAHHHH) 1000X ^ I sound more pleasant than my ZOOM2000.
- In performance, he seems less demanding standard than Amplitube. But it was quantified.

OVERALL OPINION

- I use it for two months
- What I like most is the simple and robust interface that looks like a guitar amp. Quite convenient. The sound is of good quality especially for distortions aims trash: they are very rich. Little bonus for the tuner. More vintage sounds are much less convincing. The presets are fairly well provided (for an LE version)
- The echo effect is not essential because the reverb is good. We would have preferred a small modulation chorus / flanger instead. But ...

The IK Multimedia Amplitube LE installed on my system without any problems and it was an overall easy process. I had no compatibility issues and the interface of the plug-in is easy to follow. I never looked at the manual as I had no problems installing it and the plug-in was easy to figure out.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I run Amplitube LE with a Mac Book Pro that has a 2.2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of RAM. I use the plug-in in Pro Tools LE 7.4 with a Digi 002 rack version as an audio interface. I am able to run a few of these at a time, and have had up to four running at once without any problems. This being said, it does take up a bit of processing power and running a lot of these at once will probably slow down your system.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had Amplitube LE for about two years, as I got it when I got my first Pro Tools system. I have found this plug-in to be very helpful when I am looking to beef up a guitar sound, or I only have a DI signal of a guitar and want to add some overdrive, or delay. The plug-in has a few different sections - Level, Tuner, Wah, Delay, Reverb, Overdrive and Amp & Cabinet. I have never used the tuner and don't really use the wah, so I can't say if these are helpful, but I love using the delay and the amp & cabinet sections. There is a lot of room tweaking your tone, with the amp & cabinet section being the most in depth. While I would never take digital distortion over a real amp, when looking to beef up a signal, the overdrive sounds pretty good on this. None of the sounds blow me away, but almost all of them are usable. I don't use this on everything, but when I do use it I always end up getting good results. Since this is such a cheap plug-in, I would definitley recommend having this in your set up, as you never know when you might need some reliable amp modeling software.
