I then used two years, several times a week, it is a tool that has become indispensable to me to work the bass headphones (with the drum machine) or to record an idea on the fly without turning the whole barda.

I had a priori to unfavorable towards Korg, my first synth was a DS8, a plant can not be programmed without a PhD in computer gases. The SOS is just the opposite, the engineer who laid this little gizmo really thought the musician: simple, effective, easy to use. A success.

Moreover, it is no longer manufactured. Too much thought, this little recorder would kill the market for more expensive machines (with lots of features that are useless) and to idle hundreds of technicians. Too dangerous to continue the market.

Obviously there are flaws, a bug "card busy" sometimes blocks the device, the headphone jack that was soldered (fortunately I was able to fix it), no USB ... but overall it is a very good camera, can be a bit expensive for what there is in it but so endearing that I recommend without reservation.

I baught it because I don't want to bounce after two or three recordings. It is really easy to use. Just follow your instinct. For the money it is just great. I used the Boss micro BR and it does a very good job too, but Like I said before, I have to bounce every now and then, because it only has four tracks. Now I can just keep on recording and at the end I finalize the material and put it into my computer. Realy cool! The quality of the microphone is not too bad, but if I want to make a more quality recording, I rather use my AKG condensator microphone. I use the Micro BR in combination with the Korg sos. The BR has more effects then the Korg. Still I am very happy with it and I am using it to make real CD's!

I was looking for a looper / recorder to boost my musical creation. Note that I am a keyboardiste at the base. SOS does not seem the best choice, as it is primarily intended for guitarists.
So I connected to the audio output of my system, which integrated the SOS rhythm and started recording the first improvisations. The navigation is easy and within minutes the melody and bass rhythms were all mixed. I could even add an instant impact.
SOS runs perfectly level entrances, and gives a very balanced mix automatically. The models are quite acceptable.
The rhythmic variations can be changed on the fly, and do not expect the next step to be heard. This allows to give new effects. Very responsive!
The wide range of effects is not intended as guitarists. In addition to the classic effects such as reverb, there are extreme effects as JetPhaser, and all modular and fly through the TouchScreen. They can be applied to any track, even rhythms.
You can record from any sound source. Therefore no musical idea is lost! His voice is recorded, you can use a synth on iPad, connect a guitar etc ... And more portable than my laptop.
Looper can be any section of the song, even in recording mode.
This is a fabulous tool. The best musical notepad imaginable!

I compared the Tascam multitrack recorder Zoom, but none offer the variety and creativity of the SOS!

Please note a few limitations: different track is not deactivated on the fly, so it is not easy to use a looper in live situation, registration is 16bits, the interface does not always change all the parameter in one pass.

For guitarists, and even keyboardistes, seeking a creative approach oriented live multitrack recording, SOS is the ideal machine. I use it for almost a year, and I'm not ready to let go ....

I had a Boss BR600, but I used very few sold so quickly: I have not hung with the philosophy Roland and all the submenus that scatter spontaneity. I almost have a zoom or a Yamaha R24 AW16xx but finally I chose the Korg D3200 fuller (spdif, punch in, MIDI sync with my Motif, external display, ...) Very good machine (j ' I posted a notice), but not very portable so I was looking for a pocket recorder and more. And I came across a KORG SR1 / SOS offers and then the slap frankly, this stuff is brilliant: it holds in the hand, is fast everything was under the fingers, unlimited tracks!, Very creative effects with touch control in real time directly on the touch screen, there's way to much fun (one is tempted to show off but it is sometimes better to capture the effects and dry later in the mix), box basic but powerful rhythm, coupled with the recording functions (you can overlay drums, to apply individual effects, placing breaks on the fly).
Save an idea for a song takes a few minutes (guitars, bass, drums, vocals, choirs, etc.) is amazing. We do not think about the number of tracks available. 100 can be taken in stereo, it will return! THE SR1 is also a great looper for me who just wanted one: we almost feel Jamer with yourself so it goes fast. Perfect to compose a song by ear. It sets the point A and B, the input level (which will also be listening level of the track, not adjustable internally) and press REC.
At the end we all exports (of Reaper, for example) and the tracks will snap automatically to their original position on the timeline. But to mix the levels, adjust panning and effects and a song was canned in CD quality. Too bad we can not get into 24bit. But after all it's a notebook, not a professional studio, and the result is very clean.
UNDO mode erases the most recent taken. Erase the tracks of his choice would have been a definite plus. The machine is not perfect. I hope that an update or a new model bearing this defect soon.

In touot case it's a great pocket tool for creative song-writers. Quite simply, I can not do without! It perfectly complements my D3200, which I use as a workstation for audio and MIDI sequencer connected to the Motif. But on the creative, the SR1 has been largely the first place on the podium!
