Having just reviewed a really bad portable amp, I feel compelled to give kudos to a product that figured it out. The Marshall MG2FX is a portable guitar amp. It is powered by 6 AA batteries, or the optional AC adapter. There is one 1/4" input and a pre-amp out jack, which can be useful in some recording and stage sessions (by running the pre-amp out signal to the PA, or to a DAW via the console. There is a knob for volume only, but trust me, the tone is solid. The amp has 5 watts of power.


UTILIZATION

This is simply used for practicing for the vast majority of its users. In this case, the amp is one of the easiest ones to use that I've seen. The manual is pretty unnecessary overall. You can attach a guitar strap to it to carry it around your neck, which is really sweet if you are carrying your guitar in your hand and want a free hand. The pre-amp out jack is cool, I don't use it much but I know that some people have gotten great studio sounds with it. I think that's


SOUNDS

Don't look at my review and assume this thing sounds amazing. It doesn't. It's just that for a portable five watt amp, you can really not do better. I'm convinced to this day that there isn't a better sounding amp that you can wear around your neck. The volume knob will adjust gain to a necessary degree. I like all the sounds equally. This is a practice amp that will actually make you sound good when you practice, which is a surprising rarity once you reach a certain level of playing. There really is no control of the EQ, so asking about the frequency curve is somewhat difficult to answer. I would say that they are pretty neutral in that they don't ever favor one end of the spectrum over the other.


OVERALL OPINION

I don't really have much to say other than this is a pretty cool device. I'd say that overall, this is worth it for whoever would benefit from having a quiet amplifier that's easy to carry around. The sound is better than anything you'll find in amps this size, and even a few sizes bigger to be honest. Highly recommended.

If you are a Marshall nut like myself and you are in need or a good sounding practice amp then this might be the amp for you. This is a low watt headphone featured and MP3/CD player featured mini combo amp from Marshall. It has an input for an AUX if you want to play some of your favorite music into your amplifier and jam along. This is an amp that has 10 different voicings to choose from. Within those 10 voicings you have every type of Marshall tone from plexi to the modern stuff.

SOUNDS

This amp is extremely easy to use. The amp has 10 voicings and within that you can probably find any Marshall tone that you are looking for. It actually has a nice AC/DC type tone as well as a more modern type tone. The distortion is very MArshall from plexi to modern Jcm800 modded amps It is very useful when dialing in the right voicing for your tone.

I like this amp with a humbucking style guitar such as a Gibson Les Paul or a SuperStrat. It like having that double coil pickup with the thick chewy distortion this amp can get. There is basically every Marshall tone in this amp. Finding it is not a hard job to do.

OVERALL OPINION

You can pick these little combo practice amps up fro right at around $139. That i a great deal for this little combo. With the range of tonal possibilities the amp can see just about any style of guitar tones that you want.

Amp transistor, power 2W farts but it good (in the store my friend asked me to come down, and I was not even half of the gain and volume ...). Caution, when you put the headphone, then you have to push the minimum volume to half.

Simple connectivity: input on top, the rest is behind: line (can connect a PC, CD, MP3), phone, power supply 9V.

Great look, aesthetically very successful, although it's a baby marshall hefty 3kg which is not at all like the Roland toy straight out of Transformers, or as mini amps plastoc Marshall, Vox or Orange. Nothing to see!

This is an amp travel, we can put the batteries (6 batteries type C).
Tuner, which seems fair enough on my model.

At the pots there are two possibilities for pots (one selects a small button switch with "TAP"):
- One for the mode (plain, crunch, OD1, OD2) / / / or low
- Gain / / / or treble
- An FX (chorus, flanger, phaser) / / / or Reverb
- Volume / / / or delay

A priori, one can also record the sounds, but I have not tested yet.
I put an 8, because the dual functionality of each Knob not necessarily super simple.

UTILIZATION

I had no manual when I bought it.

Simple config, there's only 4 pots at the same time.
If you are not demanding, it can be plug and play.
If you are a little more fussy as me, so must get used to switch the button with "TAP" to enter the second mode of pots and tweak the equalization.

To get a good sound (I mean not too greasy), it takes a play on the gain depending on the chosen distortion pickups and its Great. But it pays, it gets there. And it's a good learning like me when it starts in the amplifiers.
There's enough opportunities to grind and have fun.



SOUNDS

So I converted an old bass singer in, and I just started grat there is barely six months. My musical tastes range from Muse to Gun's, passing by Paramore, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, No One or Destruction Incorporated.

I am surrounded by good to scratch that fuel tube amps from Fender Marsalla through Orange, and so filled with pedals in front of which I remain perplexed at times. But I love their sound, with a big soft spot for Marshall.

I had to blow a big problem with the sound of transistors, which are not all for me to heat and personalities. But now, I'm debutante, and a tube amp, it is expensive and it's a bit big to be enthroned on my coffee table. When I play better, then I'll buy one. But it is useless to buy a Rolls Royce if it's to get bread on Sunday morning, if you know what I mean. But at the same time I do not want to take an amp meter. which I found the sound of my gratitude to ch ....

My guitar is an Ibanez ART320, with two active humbuckers. It is typed as metal. And I love this kind of big sound. I was looking for a receiver compatible with the Great, to work in my living room to work my way (with or without a headphone) and play along with my PC connected to the Internet, and with a sound not too icky to distortion, and why not some effects, all to please me.

The clean sound, I do not care a bit, I have good electro sound if I need. This is not to play its clear that I went to electric.

I tested and bought this amp last night and it corresponds to what I was looking for, and especially my guitar crunch that suits me, a not too cold OD1, OD2 one when I'm angry, all fairly adjustable Switch pickups with my gratitude and gain. As for effects, the chorus holds the road well, the rest is a little gadget but can be done by hand.

I'm used to the sound of tube amps and the distortion is neither too oily nor too cold or slimy like other transistor amplifiers. What Marshall's, a compendium of 3kg with whom I come squarely to make me happy. As to its clear (we must talk about it), it is simply to forget, it is flat, and incredibly lack of heat. Strictly speaking, I add a little chorus, and it goes a little better. But it is not made for that.

If you are looking for a versatile amp to play funk, a clear hot or warm bluesy tones, I would say: go your way. Go see Roland.

on the other hand, if you want a small amp tones Marshallian to play anywhere (batteries!) To work in your living room or headphones to rock with distortion that takes the road to try out effects in short, to please you, bah I say go ahead. It does very well what it was designed.

As for group play ... I'll try to pair it with a cabinet one day, a drummer and a little angry, and I'd be EDIT! it could be fun ...


OVERALL OPINION

So I last night, and I'm delighted.

It has been almost two months since I watched it was done in amps.

At first I was eyeing on larger amps with those modeling, type VOX VT30 or VT50 or Marshall MGxxx series. I have not joined, too cold, impersonal. The amp simulations, bah I did not find that it sounded, at least not with my gratitude.
Suddenly I realized it was a tube amp that I should buy. But then, this is not the same budget, and then I have not a good level for me to type the ox with my mates Zikos.

So upon reflection and in the meantime I really wanted a portable amp for light work, but not with a sound too rotten, either.

Marshall and this is perfect for my guitar and its active pickups, I can sincerely make me happy, and I found that Marshall sound that I love.

I compared it to Roland in the same category. No picture, clear sound, the Roland is much higher, but its distortion is vile, super drooling, we hear nothing.

Value for money very good, I paid 99EUR store, it was the same price as the Roland. He did not ruin!

For now I am very satisfied, I'll be EDIT when I have more recoil. And when my friends have tried to scratch and give me their opinions!

I put a 8 / 10 = very good. Excellent, it would be for a good tube. Perfect, does it exist? And it also depends on the grat that branch ...
