Ampeg SVP Pro

Used $200 US

This pre amp has a lot of features that I like. You can get almost any tone or sound you could want, I love the drive on it, you can add all the juicy tube harmonics you want. I like the 9 band graph too, the normal bass control is set at like 70-80 hz, I have to play dropped, so the 40hz on the 9band helps alot! It has lots of dirty grind while keeping it clean enough for recording. The direct out on mine it kind of dirty, not very clean which I dislike. The mid switch is pretty sweet, and very usefull, you can get down and dirty and switch the mids so got punk in one easy motion. I like the tone, and the features.

The direct out is too dirty, the linking on the back could include more patches, it could have some sort of cooling.

Good, strong, well built, nice black finish. It's AMPEG!

If you see one used test it out, one of the best preamps I've used.

mute and equalo are controllable foot (for silent tuning s!)
I am happy with the gear

he served as my pre amp for the studio and for the stage
studio, he served with my DI post eq'cad that it was the job of equalo and heads the lamps were engaged) and we ended up finding a pure sound with a bass Hohner bbass which does not really a super high-end famous Hohner we even mix with ww and pre amp could erase differences

in the tuk utisation en scene is simple cutting mute sound and tuner works, c is designed to say but for him who does not know c of info 1st order
The boost its effective and change all sound (bass, bright and ultra high)
and equalo gives plaiz al ingbr />
SONORITS

What to say?
Nothing truth ...
c fool tube Ampeg *
c is a gear has heard and buy two minutes after
objectively, that sound is that I need then c is not really objective truth!
an amp or preamp ca s trying his cab with his instruments etc.
I can say that c preamp and my first stone edifice my Ampeg. Strongly believes it my, my served on stage, in the studio and my misery a cost of secondhand

NOTICE GLOBAL

So overall I'd recommend
It is versatile with its boosts his lamp and its distortion has equalo
throw at you, I sell mine bientt I exchange for its big brother the SVT2

This is a 5 amp lamp, 4 * 12AX7 and 12AU7 * 1.
Front, an input jack for low and behind, an XLR output to connect directly to a sound, an effects loop, and two output jacks to a possible power amp.
Level settings is very simple. knob for a gain, three pots for a quick régalge low, mid and trebble, a 9-band equalizer and a knob for the volume. Parcontre no effect on the preamp. A small chorus or flanger would not hurt ....

UTILIZATION

The configuration is relatively simple and whatever you do the sound of hell, nothing to do with the combos I used before (peavey tko 115, Laney ...) and download the manual online www.ampeg . com is very well done, plain and simple, provided that a...…

The configuration is relatively simple and whatever you do the sound of hell, nothing to do with the combos I used before (peavey tko 115, Laney ...) and download the manual online www.ampeg . com is very well done, plain and simple, provided that a minimum understanding of English.

SOUNDS

Ampeg there's no better for rock and this amp is more than recommended for blues, funk and jazz.
I use a Fender Precision Bass equipped with Seymour Duncan pickups, amplifiers MacMah SLX200 (2 * 150 watts RMS) and a cab Hartke VX 412.
The sound is clear and no problem you can leave the bass alone in the middle of the song without losing fishing.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for about 3 months and I never had any problems, repeating as in concert.
It sounds ampeg, bass wins in the presence and the sound is magnificent.
The advantage of a preamp from a conventional amp head is above all the price of course and if you dream ampeg sound without your budget does allow an SVT III pro, this preamp is the ideal solution.
"With experience, you do again this choice ?..." <- Square yes! ;-)

See below.

I put myself in addition to a mix for the effects loop ...

UTILIZATION

Simple, clear to some that I used to use the material of this caliber.

SOUNDS

Arf ... frankly it's good ... I just buy it, not yet had time to explore. The question I ask myself in moement is amplified as at fair value.

I will return in qq days to complete this opinion.

Update -
It sounds really pretty, but be careful not locked into one type of sound very typical. I think the versatility of this product is quite limited. But the sounds are interesting, it is a noble product that is perfectly sized if you want a Ampeg.

OVERALL OPINION

As I mentioned above that ca qq days that I have this jewel.

I use HP as an Ampeg 4x10 and 1x18, to amplify my head Hartke HA5000 (I put it on sale for buy one right amp, and flat), bass = Vigier Passion, and Warwick FNA Jazzman.

I push a little test, and the config and I tell you everything. But for now, like that quickly is:

Warm, round, clear and present.

Last deferment -
I used it on a amp QSC RMX. Ca frankly did not hurt. But for my style I missed qqchose (ouqqchose was too), and finally I am separated. If you want a round, deep and powerful it really is what you need. Remains a product of very very good.
