Samll ensemble, female vocalist, ballads, showtunes, bloozes, etc. I've been at it about 10 yrs [ms Diva, maybe 10,000 yrs].

Bought on clearance at local GC. It was marked way down, and there was a 20% off any single item sale, but I don't recall just how cheap that figgers up.

I've always liked the sound of short scale basses, and this one sounded better than any other I've ever tried.

Killer tone from this passive mini-ax, and huge output, uses less gain on the amp knob than any other ax, even monster active basses like EBMM and Spector. This matters more to me on a passive ax, cuz they are more vulnerable to AC and RF noise ... so the less you hafta turn up, the less you hear any noise. Hardly hafta turn this one just off the zero

Offers a wide range of sounds, maybe cuz the PUs are so far apart.

It looks cool and is well balanced and easy to play. After you file the saddle notches to match the FB radius, the 3-point bridge allows you to change action height on a whim without losing that radius. E-string post is a decent distance from the nut.

I shouldn't hafta file the FB radius into the bridge saddle notches. It should already be there. I prefer bolt-on necks, but thaz personal preference. Same with my preference for a PU fader instead of two volume knobs. The front strap pin is on the back of the body. Not the most secure way to go, but I just screw the strap on with a big washer and then it's safe. There's really no deal killers here.

Body is divided front and back equally, with a maple front and limba back. Set neck is mahogany. Has two different styles of 'vintage' humbuggers, with the neck PU VERY close to the neck [touching it].

Typical VVT passive controls, 2x2 headstock with big duck foot keys. Output jack is on the front, which I happen to like. YMMV.

Except for having to file the saddles to the FB radius, no complaints about the build, and the finishing is really good.

Overall, this is a really great ax, at a really fair price. Maybe the passive tone chain holds the price line but it's got an amazing degree of tone options. Nowhere above did I think to mention that it only weighs 7.5 lb. Thaz not just the icing on the cake. Thaz a whole extra dessert !

If the Fender Mustang was this good, it would sell like free beer and pizza, cuz it's a Fender, even tho short scales aren't all that mainstream these days. But Gibson just isn't a big name in basses, and it's a short scale, and so it's kinda a secret how good this ax is.

BTW, it's smaller than the Mustang in every direction, as well as lighter. It's more like the Epi RumbleKat, but more versatile and feels more friendly.

I'm gonna ignore having to file the saddles cuz everything else about it is amazing for a such a simple [and mid-priced] bass. So it gets rated the full 5.

I got this guitar from opus1 music in Evansville Indiana. It is a great store with plenty of guitars in stock. i paid about $1,800 including tax. I went up there with the intention of buying a les paul classic. I played a couple, and then asked about the sg supreme hanging on the wall. as soon as i pluged it into the amp I knew this was the guitar I had been looking for. The les paul's were great, but the sound, and look of this guitar just blew the les paul out of contention.

In one word "EVERYTHING". There is nothing I dont like about this guitar. The finish is flawless and the guitar is built like a rock. On top of that, if you are a fan of AC-DC like I am you will love this as much as me. You can reproduce the tone pearfectly since this guitar comes stock with 57' humbuckers. You can also git it with p-90's but i prefer the humbuckers. The slim taper neck is just perfect it is really fast and is awsome to play.

Like I said these things are built like a rock. The sg supremes come with beautiful AA grade maple body. Mine has the fireburst finish which is great. The fret markers are split dimond as well as the headstock inlay. I have read that the cases that come with some gibsons like the sg and les paul are kinda cheep but, I've found nothing wrong with the one that came with my guitar. Infact the case is really well built compared to the cases that come with a few other brands of guitars.

This is a great guitar and if you are lookig into purchasing a new instrument deffinatly look at an sg. If you play one you will be hooked. Gibson which in my opinion is the best guitar manufacturer, has outdone itself when making this guitar. There are a few things that i sugust you buy with this guitar, a pack of Luthier's Choice guitar polish because this guitars finish is really beautifull but requires alot of up-keep to keep it looking great, the next thing is a microfiber cloth wich is the best thing you can use to get rid of fingerprints because the nitro-cellulose finish showes them clearly, the final thing is a good set of strap locks. This guitar isn't as bad about loosing a strap as a les paul but it still happens, so spend the $30.00 or so to keep your $1,800 guitar in good condition. All the things I have mentioned shouldn't run you but about $50 bucks or so. In all this is a great guitar and it will make you proud for as long as you own it. Which should be forever.

I Mattard desssus not, I'll just talk about pickups: 2 humbuckers 57 '

The flamed maple top, blue color midngiht to mine, is a fall, and the visual is radically different depending on the brightness of endrotis or you are on EST beautiful scene.

UTILIZATION

Handle ebony HYPER comfortable, thin and not too wide. My other guitar was a Fender Stratocaster, and I did not feel big differences in terms of comfort. My SG Supreme are even newer and in better shape the frets, cest my SG supereme who wins at this level it.

The game is up, however, less comfortable than a Fender, because of the straight cut of the SG and the neck tends to fall forward UNLESS you use a strap very wide and thick. A thong cheap, n'yu not even count!

I tried the Gibson Studio Standard and also please be aware that in terms of comfort and playability, the SG Supreme is literally in another dimension, nothing to see. The bcp supereme is more comfortable and fast.

In short it is a pleasure to play on this guitar, and you grab him often (and usually you will start with the look blissfully before p

Then it made in the United States, normal for the high end Gibson.

24 cases, yes 24, no current trs on SG! bne not handle key trs pais (fender strato far from certain), but not Ibanez either (see the handle of my sword 540 s, type "pancake" as the body huhu tt)

UTILIZATION

The handle is not immediately trs enjoyable, I must say, it is an adjustment period. On "ripe" a little on the frets in dmanchs and slides. must not be afraid to give r rgulirement either, and yeah there is no block the strings on it!
But once this stage pass: there is a hitch!

CHAC is extremely acute in the ISSA for Gibson, we are not barr me the box but almost 24!

The playing position is a position that only have SG: trs forward at the right hand above: it is not specific to BLME, even if it may be noted from a lightweight sequilibre at the head, which may tend dive from time to time but nothing serious.

Small "default" which are not really so and who are more "characters" of the guitar.

I found the ULTIMATE SCRATCH (APRS over 12 years of guitar) !!!!!!!!!!!

OK it is beautiful, ok, there is a great wood, the key bne ok, ok the character and luxury ... but this is nothing when it comes to the sound of this guitar!

It is the that everything is: the 1st scratch (and I've tried strato fender, ibanez all HT-end, Jackson Phil Collen etc etc ...) that happens to ring any amp or distortion better than others!

Thank you the classic 57 GIBSON home I immediately find and leave me on the ass! With these pickups the whole thing sounds, seems a con to say but it's true!

It's warm trs, trs pais, hot like fire, like a lamp, you have to sing a Mesa Boogie V Twin as it is not possible and trs LIVING (It's Alive! !). I even surprised Chapper leave a lightweight thread of drool during the execution of the solo of sweet child o mine guns n roses)!

In fact it is the extreme opposite of a fender strato its level: it is not at all clear and crystalline in not cutting edge saturated.

9a does not sound at all like a les paul, even supreme, and does not sound like an SG that would have microphones 490, 498 or even 500! I think the guy who adcid to marry the violin with silent classic '57 do well!

Ideal for the big rock, blues, hard rock.

OVERALL OPINION

I have a few months, I do not play at all four of my guitars (ibanez, lag ...) I think it's a sign, has not ever done it to me!

I re-discovering all my amps and distos, even if I am aware that there are more comfortable as guitar (Vigier, Ibanez) is a renaissance.

the ITS, the ITS and ITS and still dcuple the pleasure of playing which ultimately is the most important I think.

Ay for me is, I find: "EXCALIBUR"!

The SG Supreme is a discontinued model. For a while it was the highest end SG you could get. It was a step above the SG Custom. SG's because of their design rarely get pretty tops but thats what you got on the SG Supreme. This was the coolest finish I think they did. You dont see black flamed maple much but it looks really cool when done right. The top is a AA piece of flamed maple on a mahogany body. The neck is mahogany with a set in neck construction. The fretboard is ebony and features 24 frets with the rare Gibson split diamond inlays. The headstock is the Les Paul Custom headstock with the big diamond inlay. The tuners are standard Grover tuners and the bridge is the standard Gibson Tune-o-matic setup. The pickups are a set of Gibsons Classic 57s. The controls are standard Gibson fare with a set of volume and tone controls per pickup with a 3 way toggle switch.

UTILIZATION

The SG was designed to play better than the Les Paul and it does. This guitar has 24 frets which is pretty unusual for an SG. It has split arrow inlays like you use to see on some Flying V's. The fretwork on these from the factory is perfect because Gibson uses a Plek machine to level the frets better than any human could. The ebony fretboard feels great under your fingers and is super smooth. Because of the scale the upper frets can get kind of crowded but the perfect fret level helps this a bit. The tuners are non locking as well as the bridge. Even Epiphones now come with locking bridges so I dont know why Gibson doesnt. Being a Supreme and not a Custom you do not get the useless middle pickup to get in your way when you are playing. This is nice because its rare that Gibson puts out an SG Custom nowadays that only has 2 pickups instead of 3.

SOUNDS

Im glad Gibson put some 57 Classics in this guitar instead of their normal pickups. These pickups really fit the guitar. Gibsons other pickups to me dont really give the Gibson sound you hear in your head. Classic 57 pickups are Gibsons modern version of the classic PAF pickup. These pickups are in the guitars people think of when they think classic Gibson tone. The neck position has that sweet sound that a PAF produces. It is nice and smooth but a good amount of sag. You can really get a bluesly or jazzy tone out of the neck position on this guitar. The bridge position is slightly hotter but not by much. You can rock out some nice lose classic rock riffs on this and throw some gain on it and it will handle it. This with an old Marshall or Fender Deluxe is heaven. If you want to play heavier music you can change the pickups and the swap is like any other SG. Unlike the Les Paul Supreme this guitar has a control cavity plate so you can easily get at all the electronics for a swap if you do not like the Classic 57s. If you are playing metal a set of Duncans or EMG's would fit perfectly.

OVERALL OPINION

Gibsons SG selection is pretty thin nowadays. Its all signature models based on old standard models or useless stuff like the SG goddess and whatnot. They have some SG's with nice tops as well but they are not as good overall guitars as the SG Supreme. You cant even get a SG Custom without the useless Maestro tremolo now. If you are looking for a great SG and see one of these you should pick it up because overall it is a better SG than anything Gibson has been selling recently.

The quality on the custom is great but its design is based on the 61 Les Paul Custom and to be true to that design meant that it cant really have all the coolest and newest feature Gibson can offer on their guitars. UTILIZATION

This is the easier playing of the two Gibson Supreme guitars I demoed. This guitar is basically a 61 Les Paul Custom with two pickups which is a guitar I wish they made. It has the super fast 60s profile neck while the Les Paul Supreme has the fatter neck. This fast neck and the flat ebony fretboard make it very easy to play on all 24 frets, the deep SG cutaways also help with this too. Unlike the Les Paul Supreme this guitar actually has a control cavity plate so you can change the electronics if you wish. I wish Gibson would enter the 21st Century and start putting locking tuners on their guitars along with locking bridges if they are going to keep using tune-o-matics. When you take all the strings off a guitar with a regular tune-o-matic the bridge can fall off and it is not hard for this to ruin your intonation. There are no strap locks or anything just the tiny Gibson strap pegs. Every guitar should be coming with strap locks now its not hard they put them on some Epiphones. There are 600 dollar ESP LTD guitars that have all these features why cant Gibson put them on a guitar that costs 4 times as much. Tradition is just an excuse not to update.

SOUNDS

With the Classic 57 pickups I felt this guitar sounded better than the Les Paul Supreme also. Classic 57 pickups are Gibsons modern version of the classic PAF pickup. This guitar overall is a lot better guitar than the Les Paul Supreme and of course it is the one that Gibson Discontinued first. Maybe the Les Paul Supreme is discontinued also just no one has purchased the rest of them. I would not be surprised. This guitar has all the playability you can want is a classy suit. You get all the extra upper fret access that a 24 fret design offers with the slim 60s neck that everyone loves. You get the AA top but do no lose your control cavity plate in the process so you can swap out your electronics if you want. This Supreme model had function and form.

This features a mahogany body with a flamed maple top, a set mahogany neck with ebony fretboard, a bound fretboard, 22 gold frets, special inlays, two gold covered humbuckers, two volume knobs, two tone knobs and a three way switch.

The SG Supreme looks absolutely stunning. The tops on these things really pop out at you, and the guitar seems to weigh a bit more thanks to the maple top. A lot of people dislike the gold hardware, but I think it looks perfect on this guitar. It really sets it apart from others in the SG lineup. The guitar doesn't seem to neck dive as much as the other models, and I think that's partly due to the maple top they have.

UTILIZATION

- The handle is it nice? The neck is wide but flat (form D), at first it may be a little confusing for those who play on Ibanez, Jackson etc. .. who are really close, but what comfort Put *** used once! I love it! - Access to acute (last string) Is it easy? Of course! I never had an easy access to acute if one of my guitars! - Ergonomics is it good (in terms of shape, weight ...)? Personally if I on SG because I love the sound, the look ... but I have back problems ... So I sold my Gibson Les Paul Standard to acquire this OS. My problems are solved! The SG must weigh two thirds of the weight of the Les Paul up, what light! Only problem: The game is like sitting up a bit "boring" at the beginning when it is not used because this guitar stings the nose a lot. - Do you get easily a good sound? Plug n Play, you plug, and you scratch it sounds! I put 10, but -1 because the handle that stings the nose.

SOUNDS

- Is it suitable for your style of music? This guitar is perfect for my style of music that is quite large! Pop, punk, rock, hard rock, heavy metal ... - With what (s) amplifier (s) or effect (s) do you play? I play on an Orange AD30HTC orange 4x12 cabinet and a cutaway, let me tell you, it sounds as clean, crunch to the AC / DC, Airborne, and more than I use a distortion pedal Vox Bulldog Distortion Cooltron. - What kind of sound you get and with what settings ("crystalline", "fat ",....)? In clean: Position serious: The sound is round, full, true happiness for rhythmic. Middle position: The sound is round and still further that the neck position. Means each string ringing when making agreements. Acute position: Here, I like less, the sound is flat, not warm, and it quickly crunch. Moreover, this microphone is enough to clean teeth, you have loved, and personally I do not like. In crunch: Position Serious as clean, warm sound aerated grain. Intermediate position: more grain, teeth, his very ample. Acute position: its sharp teeth to perfection, a true happiness! all with me: "Highwaaaay to Heeell! ...." In disto: Position serious: Perfect for the rhythmic ozzy osbourne position: the sound is very warm for a distortion, it's a little drool .. Acute position: Perfect for sounds to Metallica (old albums), it's super sharp and hot at once, but that position it does not bleed! - What are the sounds you prefer, you hate? I prefer this guitar in the clean postion neck and middle, while the sounds crunch, overdrive in all its positions, and a distortion (not too high gain nonplus, this guitar is not made for that) in the bridge position / intermediary. I have no sound I hate, I just have preferences in terms of sounds. I love, love, or less, but I do not hate in any case!

OVERALL OPINION

- What thing do you like most/least about it? What I like most are: Ebony, style, finishes (custom shop pearl inlay on the head, the inlays are beautiful button ...), the sound of violin making in general .. . ALL What I like least: nothing, this guitar fills me in terms of violin and sound. - Did you try many other models before getting this one? Oh yes ... Gibson Les Paul Studio, Standard, Custom, Gibson SG Standard, Gibson Flying V, Fender telecaster, stratocaster (all U.S.) and so on! It's really the best, it surpasses them all by far! - What is your opinion about the value for the price? According guita ** TV, the price of nine was at the time of € 3057, I used to hit about half. Given the tone, the finish, the price of the new is abused! but totally justified and one realizes immediately when it was in his hands. Gibson is: very expensive but very good. Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice? ... With experience, yes, I do it again this choice sometimes twice a day! I put 10/10 for the first time a guitar this is me and fills me so much!
