Purchased used from a musician. Still own it. One-piece Mahogany neck with classic "soft C" profile which plays great, set into the body. Twin master volume and tone controls with three-way pickup selector switch. 22 Medium Jumbo profile frets, with trapezoid inlays. Classic SG shape. It feels and sounds great. The guitar feels heavier than a typical Gibson SG, but that depends on the model. It's not a significant difference. The tuners are Wilkinson I believe, and for some reason weren't holding tuning great on mine so I swapped them for Grovers.

Sound — 8
Suited my blues and classic rock style well, the sound could go from fat and full, to clean and smooth. Classic PAF vibes. Although the pickups did not handle crisp tones well, and sounded muddy at times. Played it through a Marshall combo. I didn't use any effects with it and just cranked up the gain a little when playing AC/DC, Hendrix, etc. It's not a noisy guitar. You can get a wide variety of sounds, although I wouldn't play Metal or anything too heavy, go for a Jackson or ESP in that case. It's perfect for that classic rock or blues sound.

Action, Fit & Finish — 7
The guitar was well set up by the previous owner. I did need to adjust the truss rod several times over the years, but nothing dramatic. Wiring and finish were all fine, good quality there and no complaints. One rough fret, nothing that couldn't be fixed. The pickups needed a little raising. The Wilkinson hardware is a strong point and seems to be holding well. Overall the finish was good, not perfect. I had never owned a JHS / Vintage guitar before and didn't expect much. It feels professional and solid.

Reliability & Durability — 7
I would use this as a second live guitar, or rehearsals and home practice. Reason being the pickup quality could be better but it's good at this price point. Durability is fine. It's dependable and looks quite cool. I have fun using it and it has never let me down. It's a great feeling and sounding guitar, I would easily recommend it to anyone looking for an alternative to Epiphone or Squier. I would swap out the pickups for Epiphone Probuckers or Gibsons with clearer tones. I like the overall reliable feeling you get when playing this guitar.

Overall Impression — 8
The Vintage VS6 is a great alternative to the Epiphone G-400 and has that classic SG sound. It’s affordable and has good fretting and finishing. The pickups are clearer than the Epiphone’s and sound a little more authentic, although they’re still not as good as a Gibson’s. It build quality is on par with most Epiphone standard models and makes you feel like you are playing a fully-featured, professional instrument. The solid Wilkinson hardware is a huge factor. Only thing is that the tuning keys aren’t the most consistent so you might want to upgrade them.

I just buy (04/04/2008) and this is my observation

Soft play it hard on the 14th frieze box
If you play a basic agreement as r 2 in case it rings false.
Do not bother to make mahogany for the neck or rat.
I go to the store Tuesday.
Shame because it is nice with powerful microphone.

UTILIZATION

Large enough handle typed Gibson, we like it or not like: I like.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 6 months.
I love the sound (very round) on the other hand like much less the screw that is placed behind the guitar, which the imbalance.
I try several models, and I think for a SG type guitar in this price range is the best. For example, I tried the Epiphone G-400 and I did not like.
This is a good quality / price ratio.
With experience I think I would do this choice, however I now have progress to switch to another skyscraper.
A great guitar to start with a rock look good.

I've used for 2 years and I must say I thought her and finally make a successful thanks it's just a guitar and then start to test the SG style. Silent when she even better than SG but nevertheless have piphone I prefer the Strats and Les Paul!
It's been 6 years that I'm the guitar and I honntement test everything (Ibanez, Lag, Yamaha, Vintage, Squier, Fender, Duesenberg) and a budget of 340 400 because it is trying Lag a good quality price!

Mahogany body and set neck mahogany, 2 humbuckers, bridge-like tune-o-matic, 22 frets, 2 volume, 2 tone 1 3 position selector, it is the characteristics of the SG.
All hardware, pickups and Wilkinson are mechanical, it needs no introduction, equipment equip countless guitar, medium and high end.
The finishes are very good bill, it could be better but the guitar could also coûtée most expensive ...

UTILIZATION

The neck is thin profile of type 60s, one of the best handle on which it was given me to play, no problem.
The frets are perfectly set up, they are well polished, the action is low, incustations (or imitation pearl ...???) perfectly in place as well.
playing comfort and access to the treble is superb, worthy of much more Honner guitar, and I know what I mean, I have another one in USA Standard Telecaster and a Gibson Les Paul Standard DC, the handle is as comfortable as latter.
The guitar is relatively light, with a slight tendency to pitch down as any SG model.

SOUNDS

I have to admit was amazed by the sounds of the pickups wilkinson!!
I said it is a copy of the SG 61 ', and copies it perfectly apply.
Velvety sound in the neck pickup, a microphone and powerful sharp-edged, all sonoritées are possible, from blues to metal, playing with the controls and equalizer amp.
Before receiving the guitar, I had to purchase a set of Gibson pickups (490R and 498T) thinking that a change of pickups would be essential.
I've finally sold.

OVERALL OPINION

The quality / price is more than excellent!
I still have that guitar today and I'm not ready to sell it!
I also have other guitars much Honner, more prestigious brand, best known, but we must recognize that today, new brands made in China, Korea and others are frankly ready to compete with models much more expensive ...
And we will not complain, right??
I play the guitar for almost 20 years and I assure you that a few years back, it was impossible to have an instrument of this quality at this price ...
I would do this choice without hesitation.
I'm going to definitely buy a model Lespaul.
In short for those who want a very good guitar SG type, go for it at this price, you have a super skyscraper.

Typical SG playability. This guitar is lighter than an original SG and not very well balanced. My Strat is better balanced

Good sound, good pickups. I find it sounds better than an Epiphone. The sound is very similar to an original SG with my Peavey tube amp.

SOUNDS

The sound is really good when I play rock in the line of ACDC and Telephone.

I play with a Valveking 112.

The sound is round and warm. The guitar is very good with a light distortion. You can also play the blues with it but it's definitely not its favorite music style.

As I already said this guitar is great with a light distortion.

OVERALL OPINION

10 months (no problem whatsoever)

Pros: Sound, hardware, weight (not too heavy), finish, looks.

Cons: Unbalanced weight, front strap pin.

I also tested an Epiphone SG and it didn't sound so good.

Stunning value for money!

I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.
