DescriptionThe Neumann KMS 85 is a legendary microphone that is no longer produced. It has an inimitable design.
In hand it creates this incomparable sensation caused by the old-fashioned German microphones and in use we have the confirmation of the ease and elegance.
This microphone was specifically dedicated to the voice in proximity. The output level is low which is normal for this type of microphone because it is made to capture only the foreground, the recoil of background noise is important and its electro-acoustic construction incorporates a powerful low-cut.
Positioned vertically, at the height of the mouth, against the chin, we obtain a superb voice, clear, deep, intelligible and terribly musical, without plosives and without whistling, sheltered from the Larsen in stage use (which it was apparently designed for).
It remains a microphone of proximity in all circumstances and the signal fades quite quickly as soon as it is moved away from the source. Taken out of the Neumann catalog, it is quite rare in occasion and is definitely a vey good investment for the domain in which it excells.
