DBZ Guitars The Imperial

DBZ guitar is a company started by the original founder of Dean guitars. Mr. Dean left Dean guitars to do more of his own thing after the company got typecast as a metal only guitar company. DBZ guitar has many fresh ideas when it comes to guitar making and I hope they do well so these ideas become more commonplace. DBZ and some other boutique guitar makers are trying out the concept that a low mass guitar sounds better. With less mass in the guitar the vibrations of the strings do not have to work as hard to get the body resonating. The Guitar on the surface looks a lot like a Gibson Semi hollow but if you look at it from the side it is very flat and thin. With the thin body you get a really crisp sound and good attack. The guitar comes with proprietary DBZ pickups that they call full spectrum pickups and they are able to be coil tapped with the push pull volume pot. It has 22 frets on a Gibson 24.75 scale. The neck is a soft V shape that Dean has made famous over the years. The body is mahogany with a flamed maple top. The binding is natural maple from the top. The fretboard is rosewood but it has been dyed black for a classy ebony like look. It has Grover tuners up top and a DBZ bridge design where the stop tail is pushed far back for a unique string tension. You can also get this guitar with a Bigsby tremolo but I would strongly recommend against it. With the thin body the guitar is super light. It feels like you are playing air, and the soft v neck profile fits well in your hand. Many people think a big heavy body is the key to sustain. DBZ and a few other companies have been trying to get rid of that idea by making great sounding thin guitars. They state that with big heavy guitars a lot of the string energy gets lost just making the body resonate. With a thin guitar the body resonates easier and the strings dont have to work as hard, increasing sustain. This guitar does sustain very well and the DBZ pickups give a nice classy tone. This is not a metal machine. This guitar is more suited for blues or jazz up to classic rock. If you see a guitar with a thin body dont start thinking it has a thin sound. A well made thin guitar can sound better than a big guitar. If you are looking for a guitar that resonates like crazy and is something different the DBZ Imperial is a fresh concept.

I had a stratum, a Telecaster, a 49er duesenberg a les paul 70's and two épiphones crestwood.

What is so special that you like most and least?
I really love the handle. It is very nice and I found the perfect frets. It enables adjustment tailored to the desired game. The notes are clean and precise and strings appear more "soft" than on other guitars, allowing ease of making bends to Guilmour 2-tone and half as famous solo on the wall. The tuners are Grovers, precise desire. The originality of this guitar is of course his body thin and hyper hyper drive. The format is that of a half box and is curved toward the center. I love this format. I play pop / rock and fine edges allows rithmiques accurate and fast. This is a guitar that sounds perfectly empty. Only big downside, a problem with the tune o matic style bridge gibson, sounds kind of crimp. I saw this on both models suggest that there is a manufacturing problem, there is not one. To remedy this, we must review the adjustment of jumpers, see the stall with Teflon. Side electronic pleasant surprise. The original pickups are very very good. I love the ability to split the humbuckers. This is often the gadget on other guitars, but here is a treat. I use it all the time. Very convenient for playing single coil crunch couplets and refrains saturation humbucker. (Feel like a TV and a gibson). on the other hand, we must admit that the volume knob is not in splitt very practical to use. A separate switch would have been ideal, but ...

With experience, you do again this choice?
This is clear. I love this guitar. I played with last year and I have not even want to change (incroyable..!)
Defects of the bridge can be solved quite easily for splitt, I think asking a store to see what solution there.
Go there with your eyes closed!
Besides, I have not even talked about the look .... I have the model in the picture, ie the tabacco sunburst. I can tell you it makes the photos superbly together. The varnish is very successful. it shines, it shines!
