I've been playing in bands for the past ten years and have owned many different amps. I bought the marshall because I did like the sound in the store and trusted the name if something would go wrong.

I bought it at guitar center for $500 which is the place i returned it for $250.

The clean tone was ok and the distortion was adequate.

In all Marshall MG series amps they are cooled internally by a very cheap little plastic fan. This amp made a strange grinding noise after 6 months of use. This was the fan motor dying. After a year the fan stopped working and the amp would overheat (one of these times was at a show). When this happens the amp shuts down and if you don't have a backup your s…

Marshall's warranty is over rated cause they don't pay for shipping. Just because it says marshall doesn't mean its good.

The construction quality is irreleavant because the whole amp depends on a 3 dollar plasctic fan.

Sounds ok but it was not reliable because of this seemingly small problem that ruined many practices and a show for me

I bought this Marshall MG 250 DFX at Guitar Center, in southfield Mich for $499.99

Its a good size and a good price. It has a quiet clean channel. Now the rest of my review, read the next section.

When i bought the amp it was a floor model. I played threw it for a little while and seem to be what i was looking for. I got the amp home and pluged in my head phones, and found out the headphone jack didnt work. So 4 days later i took it back to a diffent guitar center in Roseville Mich cause the original location was out of stock. So i got the new amp and about 3 weeks later the fan on the back went...its still works but the barings are shot in the fan. So again i take it back and get a…

So i got the new amp and about 3 weeks later the fan on the back went...its still works but the barings are shot in the fan. So again i take it back and get a third amp, that was about 3 weeks ago, and now this fan is shot. Ive been busy lately and proably have only log 1 full hour on that amp and the fan is shot. I bought a marshall cause i thought it was one of the best, i wanted a marshall for years. Now all i have to say is ive gone threw 3 amps in less than 2 months. Ive never been let down so bad, when i thought i was buying soemthing so good. Oh ya ive had problems with the digital effects and channel 2 is extremely noisy. The amp is also lacking something, it maybe because the back of the amp is sealed but it just doesnt sound very full. Im taking my amp back tomorrow, 7-13-04 and im gonna look at mesa boogie, i think marshall has diffently lost a coustomer here.

The out side seems strong and rugged, but the fan in the back is diffently a hunk of crap.

After 3 amps in 54 days, and nemerous problems i would NOT rememend this product at all.

I bought it over the internet. I paid $500.00 for it.

NOTHING. After I traded the unit in for a line 6 spider II 1x12 combo, I have nothing good to say at all about the marshall amp.
I paid two hundred dollars less for the line 6. It's one speaker short of marshall unit. And it can still go louder and stay clean.

The contour knob. Never could get the tone I wanted. If I finally got a heavy crunch out of it, the high end frequencies were far deminished. Even using the trebel toggle on my guitar, I could never find an equilibrium between high and low ends.

the same as any other amp in the 300-1000 dollar price range.

Get yourself a spider II or vetta amp. If you want to spend twice or triple for a solid state amp with the same punch as line 6, then go ahead go out and get a marshall.
