I've been playing guitar for roughly 10 years, in and out of various bands. we mostly play metal, nothing really heavy but not light either.

I purchased it at a local music store in town for $750 Canadian a couple years back.

Its nice because its a medium size amp but has all kinds of power. I found the effects to be quite nice especially the delay, its very clean, and of course it has the good old marshall distortion when you want it. I've braught it to many jam sessions and it keeps up with ease and is very durable. My fan occasionaly makes a bit of noise but once its warmed up it quiets right down and its done this for about a year and a half. the bearings are fine. Overall I love this…

    Noisy fan occasionaly

very durable, built as good as any other Marshall product

Great price, lots of power, nice Marshall sound even though its solidstate, effects are great. Other then a noisy fan its a great amp for someone who just wants to jam with some friends or to do shows with.

Amp was purchased at ST. Johns Music, in Edmonton Alberta.

    - for me, 2 by 12 amps are the perfect size
    - includes a nice footswitch
    - clean channel sounds great (you can crank the gain to 10 and use the master volume to controll volume level for a wonderfull warm sound). with the gain at 10 the clean channel becomes very slightly distorted, and SWEET SOUNDING.
    - using the DFX Chorous effect over the clean channel sounds just the way I wanted it to. As nice as a dedicated pedal.
    - is as loud as I would ever need
    - closed back
    - the amp sounds big, not just loud. loads of low end response

The digital reverb is not great. I use a little, knob set to 2, any more and you will sound muddy, and your tone seems to get lost. at 2 it is nice, if you need or want more you are out of luck.
-CHANNEL TWO is this amps weakest point!! and that is what most people are interested in when buying an amp. Channel 1 is dead silent, Channel 2 more gain = significantly more noise.
    - I have had this amp for 2 months and can't find a gain and EQ setting that I love. I have found some that I like.
    - If you want modern high gain, Nu metal sound you will need a pedal, and maybe a noise gate as well.

I run my pedal + effects processor set up through channel 1 and get exactly the tones I want

    - the amps fans are loud, so loud you can hear them over your guitar if you are practicing by yourself

construction/ quality - looks and feels like it will last a long time. no issues

This review came off a little negative, that was not the intention. I plan to use this amp for ten years before I get another one. Just writing this review has me wanting to practice again right now. The amp sound exactly like I had wanted but I use 2 distortion pedals to find those tones. so the cost of a pedal should be factored in to the cost of the amp.

    Guitar Center $420!

Loud, good sound, footpedal, great distortion.

    Heavy, not tube.

Good constructiononly problem is my handle came loose.

All in all, this is a pretty good amp. I wanted an amp that would work for small to medium gigs. I wanted a tube, but didn't have the money, and the saleguy said this was my best bet. It has and FDD button which is supposed to make it sound realistically like a tube. The FDD button adds depth and character to the sound, but it doesn't quite capture the warmth of a tube. It comes with effects, which are not top rate but not too bad. The reverb sounds pretty good for being digital. The distortion is awesome, has that marshall crunch. The amp ha…

The amp has a contour button that changes the sound from classic rock to nu-metal tone. The only complaint is that the clean channel distorts at high volumes. All in all it is a pretty good amp, if you can't afford a tube, but want a pwerfull amp that delivers, this is it.

I bought this amp because it only has two 50W amps and 2 HP 12 "separate property.
I use it with a POD2 on new lines effect return on the back. (Left & Right)
On the front I only use the master volume. Anyway I use it as stereo amplifier for the POD.
It is undeniable that the sound is huge and magnified the effects of the POD. More than 12 HP 2 instead of one gives more breadth to the sound and the sound level is important. (This is more than a 100W mono amplifier on a single HP 12 ").
In fact I did not plant POD Stereo Amp + HP + 2 = big sound!

    UTILIZATION

    UTILIZATION

Now only the opinion (I do not use it), but I tried the Marshall preamp section:
is correct on the "Clean Channel", but I find the "Overdrive Channel" dégueux. Can not find a gain setting with a slight overdrive as does the POD or Marschall lamp. I can not find a natural compression sound!
The sound with the gain is a kind of nasal distortion, blah!
The effect section in this case is just enough space with a stereo effect that gives a coloration.

    SOUNDS

Start with a Dimarzio equipped with the clean channel the sound is fine but limits the tes style clean sounds. The channel saturated again does not suit me.
Anyway I use a POD preamp, there is no problem here for the Blues or the Marshall Brit Brit Hi-Gain
    I still POD Stereo Amp + 2x50W + 2 = HP big sound!

    OVERALL OPINION

Value for price. But think about investing a Tubescreamer type pedal in use on the clean channel to have a nice full sound.
Otherwise the extent of 2 HP to switch to a noise level more than adequate and very strong!
It is on by putting a preamp in addition to the price the investment is higher.
But in fact for the uninitiated, be aware that the performance of HP and their numbers that are not sound watts. And it is this characteristic that I was looking in my purchase.

lots of bass in the clear, really, when you push a little, it seems that all is farting! otherwise the sound is pretty good, fairly crystalline, slamming according to the settings.
for distortion, it is true that the sound is more difficult to resolve, I put some personal gain (about 3 / 4) and little contour (like 3 or 4) is the only way to get some sound crunch, a little "dirty", and with it a great deal in volume. But I use to never gain back, the sound sucks too!
Another boring setting: a move from clean to distortion by the sound switch keeping the same volume, not easy ...

    SOUNDS

Despite these annoyances, we come to have fun! One can very well play jazz, funk, blues, rock, hard rock, but this view of the metal amp shows its limits: no présicion basically sound. The effects are not great, I use the config chorus + delay, with a relatively short delay, and control of knob bottom, it gives a good boost for solos when playing with the switch.
I play mostly blues and rock with my epiphone LP standard: blues with neck pickup tone and decreased slightly over 3 / 4, bridge pickup with a rock bottom! It happens to get great sounds and playing for hours ...

    OVERALL OPINION

I've had 3 or 4 years. I like this amp in general. But it weighs a little heavy (22kg) and is not convenient to carry. The value for money is good, also there to see: he was voted best amp for this several times ...
With experience, I do not know if I would do this choice, obviously when I bought it I played a Squier 10 W! then ... I thought it was great. Now I wear it most of all-tube amp, but hey, now have to see the price difference, and also the patience of my neighbors in the face of much heated lamps ...
Edit: I changed the pickups for my epiphone PRS McCarty, the sound is much better, but I can not wait to go to an amp lamp ...

So it's a transistor amp with a simulation lamp. I chose this amp because I wanted the Marshall sound. I would gladly place an order for a JCM800 but the sounds are hard to play, allori with the transistor is much more enjoyable. He gives 100 watts, enough to play in clubs and theaters. There is a small range of effetcs, I do not use it because I am trs "Old School", I like good sound you scratch like crazy. I use a Gibson Les Paul Goldtop 56 'and for me the sound is accquit. I am glad trs.

I lot of my earnings to get a sound more than enough for the Hard Rock. One who is a fan of blues, rock, hard rock will find easily are considered.

    SOUNDS

It is ideally suited my style of music. I play mostly hard rock, but I'll be back soon good Blues calm escalating more and more. The clean is just as hot as I like it. Nothing to say it's a Marshall. I use my Gibson Goldtop 56 'and j'obtient sound of the vintage. I loves.

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it now for 2 months. What I like mostly is the crunch that DGIG naturally. I test a lot of amps before selecting it (I work in a music store). But it's this one that suited my expectations. I think it's correct price cot. I would do without this choice hsiter

A transistor amp with effects, 100 watts in theory, 2 X 12 "HP, a pedal, FDD technology.

    UTILIZATION

Very easy to use, good clean sound. Move from clean to distortion with the pedal while keeping the same volume is not a problem for me, simply adjust well. The manual is useless.

    SOUNDS

I play metal, surf rock, indie, punk, pop etc, this amp is well suited to these styles. I play with a fender jaguar equipped with a Seymour Duncan Hotrails. The distortion that looks more like a mixture overdrive / distortion suits me perfectly. The clean has a lot of bass, so an adjustment is needed, the other effects are nice. OVERALL OPINION

For eight hours, excellent price / quality ratio, I played in on a peavey rage 158 too rotten, so the change is notable. I do it again the same choice if I had the same budget. The only problem is the weight, this amp is super heavy!

edit 2008: Finally I find this amp has too much bass, I have to put the treble and bass thoroughly at least when I play clean, maybe my guitar a lot of bass also possible .. .

    OVERALL OPINION

I've had it for eight hours and it offers an excellent value for money. I used to play with a Peavey Rage 158 and this new amp is a nice improvement. I would buy it again. The amp's only disadvantage is its weight: it's very heavy!

Update 2008: with a bit more experience, I now find the lows too loud. I have to turn the treble control fully up and the bass control fully down in the clean channel. Although the problem could actually be my guitar...
