- How long have you use it?

I use it for about 6 months he was buying a rock duros reindeer for about € 100. it's a bit more expensive than average but has seen duros prices are quite high that still corect.

- What is so special that you like most and least?

Special features I like the least? I pence as the color of the lamp and a simulation not too convincing. I do not like the qualitée of the volume pots plain does not work anymore and is stuck at the bottom I must play with the volume on my Start. These knob égalment are very very very very sensitive they must be turned in 1 / 10 of mm, nan nan is not an image.

The Special features I like most is the easy to use: (in order of lever knob of gad etc.) a clear sound volume, switch clean / lead, a prégain, post a gain, the switch " vintage "or" modern "and a 3-band equalizer.
It is also very powerful sansproblermes it competes with my battery or amp scratch that plays on a 25w.
I will contradict myself but at the same time it is still strong enough I lug around several times in the rain coming out of high school and there was no any problem.

- Have you tried many other models before buying it?

since this is my first amp and I had a grant more than limited at that time I did not have much choice so it is the only one I try (at time of purchase of course)

- How would you rate the quality / price?

I pence it is one of the best quality RAPORT market prices for the beginner like me who has a limited budget is ideal.

- With experience, you do again this choice? ...

I nan pence price I would have a more powerful amplifier with a very fonctionalitée allowing me such a head grabdepolivalence v AMPIRE or line 6.

In short what the prices can say anything bad.

UTILIZATION

Rugged, compact, visible and easily accessible buttons. the 3-band EQ Ragit well.
Rglages use and easy.

SOUNDS

The clean sound is ok, it restores the highs trs well (sounds crystal).
The saturation is balance (precision / distortion) same background that does not EMDU. Although it increases gradually with the button so good sound palette (country, crunch, hard ..) and the DS-1 corresponds with the tone around 10.
It keeps well in an attack so acute disto plutt punk (not heavy at all)
There's a button that gives a vintage vintage sound (and yeah), Global Warming ca senior medium. (Never used)
Warning! volume lev just the sound becomes all ugly, there's breath (when playing with other instruments, it can pass inaperu) becomes saturated and any dirty (frying). Therefore only be used to play alone in his room volume low.

OVERALL OPINION

I bought it in 2000 and I still use it at home with guitars strat type.
His few default are not very serious for a first amp and / or to play alone at home volum Modr. APRS if you want to put in watts or make heavy go your way!

- Purchased from OCCAZ without manual (useless, in my opinion)
- If you are archi beginner, prefer the advice to hack adventure buttons. This gives you the best possible sound (if the seller is not fake ...)
- Attention, I have not tested on stage, and personal, I would keep the room. Unless you are the amateur festival of zik

SOUNDS

I play more blues, but the rock (saturated, bright), jazz and reggae are doing very well also. A nice versatility.

OVERALL OPINION

- Used for 3 years.
- Laney had a low power before. Nothing to do (under the Laney)
- You will have costs included: value for money: nothing wrong!

Peavey does it again with there inexpensive and fantastic sounding amplifiers. This amp is only a simple 15 watta amp with loads of options to boot. It is a solid state amp that has a clean channel, a lead channel and a simple Eq section. You also get an input, a CD player input, and a headphone jack for silent playing at your home or office.

There reason isn't anything special about this amp other than it is cheap and good enough for practicing your guitar chops. Some of the latest editions to this model had a modern and vintage voicing switch on the lead channel. This one has is but the original I don;t think had one on the front panel.

SOUNDS

The tone from the transtube is exceptional as far solid state amps go. This isn't going to sound exactly like a tube amplifier, but they get it sounding much better than most solid state amps out there on the market.

I like a Peavey amp with a good sounding Gibson Les Paul or SG guitar. I find that the match between those Gibson mentioned and the Peavey tone matches up much better than Fender guitar. Peavey's can tend to have a shrive distortion tone that needs to be tamed a bit with a good mahogany wood body guitar.

OVERALL OPINION

Peavey has since discontinued these amps and are now focusing on there Vypyr series which has now become a huge hit. They still use transtube technology in many of their current amps.

Since they no longer produce this amp the used market is the only way to go if you desire this amp. I have seen them on the classifieds for right around $70 to %100. Not a bad price for a good sounding solid state practice amp with multiple channels. I highly recommend this amp for someone needing a good silent amp for practice.

The Peavey Rage 158 is a fairly typical practice amplifier from Peavey's venerable line of amps. It's a 15 watt solid state amp featuring Peavey's "Transtube" technology. This is supposed to ape not only the tone and harmonics/overtones that a tube amp offers, but also that unmistakable feel that you get when playing through a true tube amp. It's got two channels, clean and drive. The layout is very simple, featuring a single volume for the clean channel and separate gain (pre) and volume (post) controls for the drive channel. Other than that, both channels share an equalization control set of bass, middle and treble controls. The only other features of note on this amp are a 1/4" headphone jack for silent practice as well as a 1/4" auxiliary input for plugging in a CD player or other external device. It features a single 8" Peavey Blue Marvel speaker to cap everything off. All in all it's a decent feature-set considering the amp's then street price of around $100.

UTILIZATION

When I first got the amplifier, I was about 6 years old and it was the first amp I got that was my own. It is very simple and easy to use, so even at that young age, I was able to dial in reasonable tones that I liked. Even up to the present day. There aren't many features to wrap your head around so that leaves room to just play guitar.

The clean channel has a nice set of tones. I've used it as a rehearsal amp for a jazz project for the last year and it works well enough for that, despite being old and only 15 SS watts. There is some pretty horrendous speaker buzz from age, so that limits me from turning the amplifier up too loudly in these settings. The drive channel is really impressive for a solid state practice amp. Its specialty seems to be a surprisingly killer 80s/90s rock tone that has lots of midrange and a really punchy attack overall.

I've had this amp since new when I was 6. At that time, I was using various Squier, Yamaha, and Epiphone guitars with both single coil and humbucking pickups. At that time I was playing blues and rock music, most often on my own. On occasion I did use this amp for gigs/television appearances, and in those instances the amplifier would be mic'd.

Even today I still use this amp for rehearsals and as a beater, and though it is aged and worn it still sounds great. The Transtube system does have a great sound and though it's not going to ever replace a proper tube amp, it does sound great for what it is. I love the overdrive tones especially and find myself playing lots of 80s riffage and lead based stuff when I'm plugged into the Rage. The amp gives me a wonderful inspiration to play because it sounds good. Most practice amps don't put a smile on my face but this one does.

OVERALL OPINION

All in all I feel that this is a great amp for the young guitarist or someone who just needs a small amp to use as a beater/practice amp. I've been using mine for over ten years and it still works very well and sounds great. I've tried the newer versions of the Rage (the one with the red stripe as well as the newer 258 model) and I was not nearly as impressed with those as I was with my 2000 model Rage which the silver stripe. These amps can be picked up cheaply on the used market, so if you are looking for a small, simple, yet great sounding amp on a budget, give the Rage a try. You might be surprised...
