Good quality device ...

UTILIZATION

Conf single, simple to use.
Simple connections and word clock sync ADAT slave master ... World clock is generated by the RME 800.

SOUND QUALITY

Good reproduction,
Preamps transparent enough ... Good headroom. Not rated coloring.

OVERALL OPINION

I mostly use for 2 years for synths. I never did catch a direct voice. I always pass by another preamp.
However, taken with a simple guitar or Rode SM 58 .... good sound.
Very good value for money ... especially with inserts .. That said the digimax D8 is already more than enough. Even model without inserts.
I do it again the same choice.
Good supplement for the home studio.

Card with 8 preamps Presonus transistor (same as on a FP10 or FireStudio).
ADAT digital output with the option to leave the 8 preamps directly, without going through the ADAT (and skip the A / D conversion of digimax), which can serve!

the only problem (if it really is one) lies in the fact of not making a mistake to connect the ADAT and BNC cables in "output" instead of "input" ...


SOUND QUALITY

A priori it is relatively transparent preamps.
After, at this price, you get the transparency and cleanliness required to make very accurate registration.
To have a little park in good quality microphone, you get easily get very good catches its exploitable in a mix.


OVERALL OPINION

I used this in 3 sessions Digimax taken its complement of Presonus FireStudio for 16 tracks simultaneously and thus produce good catches taken or drums live.
I have owned the Firepod model before moving on this config.
Honestly, I think with presonus it is really about what can be better in this price range to make the recording very correct with 8 or 16 preamps simultaneously.
In addition, the Digimax can connect to any interface of any brand via the ADAT or any converter via the OUTPUT's Direct, which enables its buyer to really use it long whether amateur home-studio owners wishing to have pus on the cheap preamps to make drums or is PRO interfaces, preamps and converters of much better quality but would need to complete all this to make big catches live etc. ...

SOUND QUALITY

- The sound of your instruments or microphones is correctly reproduced?
Good presence across the spectrum, no breath clean, good headroom available for micro timber.
I use extension of a motu 828 mk3 at 44.1 kHz and I prefer the sound of the preamp preamp than the motu. It is true that the knobs a bit small but for use in mobility, sound and live sound, it was all in a 1U rack

- The preamp makes it clear or does it stain?
No particular color (so much better, too bad, it's up to you), I like it.

In pure preamp connected adat not just once or twice of the AD8000 Berhinger that has nothing to do (not enough headroom, too much wind, no insert, etc. ....
- What is so special that you like best?
I chose this preamp to the possibilities offered by the inserts on each preamp before conversion. While this option is useless in the studio, but live it nikel to "spoil" a kick or compress a snare before AD conversion.

the phantom power for 4 preamp rather than preamp but that's just because we had put something in the "love less"
What is your opinion about the value for the price?
Very good because it was the only game of this price to have the phantom switch on the front and taking the insert and direct out before conversion
Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice? ...
