I HAD A CHARVEL MODEL 6 BACK IN THE LATE 80s THAT I HAD TO SELL MANY YEARS AGO WHEN I GOT MARRIED. THEN GOT OUT OF PLAYING FOR AWHILE. I RECENTLY STARTED PLAYING AND WAS LOOKING FOR A MODEL 6 AGAIN. VERY HARD TO FIND A GOOD ONE. SO I BOUGHT A JACKSON DMG WHICH KICKS ASS. A LES PAUL ALSO NICE. FINEAllY I GAVE UP ON THE MODEL 6 AND BY RECONMENDATION JUST BOUGHT THE JACKSON SL3 ON EBAY .THIS GUITAR IS SWEET. NECK THRU, SD PICKUPS..I BELIEVE I NOW CAN PUT MY OWNING ANOTHER CHARVEL MODEL 6 DREAM TO REST..THIS GUITAR BLOWS IT AWAY.

I PURCHASED ON EBAY,BLACK MINT CONDITION WITH CASE $700.00. I PURCHASED THE GUITAR BECAUSE A FRIEND HIGHLY RECONMENDED ME TO CHECK ONE OUT. SO I KNEW SOMEONE FROM...…

I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS GUITAR, NO COMPLAINTS. I THINK ONE OF THE BEST IMPORTS FROM JAPAN FOR SURE..THE OLD JACKSON PROS WERE GOOD, AS WERE THE CHARVEL MODEL SERIES THIS CAN DEFINEATLY HANG WITH THEM FOR SURE.

I LIKE PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS GUITAR

QUALITY SEEMS PRETTY GOOD,LIGHT WEIGHT, SEEMS PRETTY DURRABLE.

I WOULD RECONMEND THIS GUITAR TO ANYONE WHO PLAYS MORE ON THE HEAVY SIDE OF MUSIC, NOT JUST HEAVY METAL BUT HARD EDGE ROCK AND ROLL.GREAT SUSTAIN, REAL FLOYD ROSE,NECK THRU,SEYMOURS..GREAT GUITAR..'ITS A JACKSON'

I luckily won this guitar at a GuitarCenter giveaway, but it was selling for $1000 US.

Made in Japan. 24 frets. Volume control, tone control, and 5 way selector. Shiny sunburst finish. This guitar introduced me to the amazingness of Seymour Duncan JBTM TB4 and SHR101 Humbuckers. There are three of them, giving you a nice thick sound - great for metal or hard rock. Rosewood fretboard. Using it with a Marshall MG100 dfx and it sounds great - thick, full sound. Barely any feedback with these humbuckers. For metal music you can't really ask for something better.

Uses a floyd rose bridge - which means patience is needed when tuning! Nevertheless, once its in tune you are ready to rock...…

Uses a floyd rose bridge - which means patience is needed when tuning! Nevertheless, once its in tune you are ready to rock out!

The action that was originally set-up with the guitar was perfect. Brought the bridge pickup a little higher so it was closer to the strings, but that was a very slight adjustment. The finish is very durable. The head bends back passed the neck and may require a little getting used to, but it poses no real dangers. The neck is a little narrower than I would normally expect, but it has its advantages.

I plan on using this gutiar live. It is very durable and has been reliable for practice. The finish is put on very well and it is very hard to scratch or chip it. Haven't broken a string yet, I would play live without a backup. I have been using this guitar for about 3-4 months. A great value if you are buying it, or even better if you are as lucky as me to win one!

Jackson SL-20

I bought this first hand in guitar village for 200 pounds, i bought it as my first electric guitar.

i like this guitar because it is easy to play, and i think it is good value for the money i paid.

the problem i found was that the cheap pickups gave LOADS of feedback when ever the gain was turned up above 1 or 2.

Personally I think the quality of this product is good, considering the price paid. I dropped it and it didnt even go out of tune.

i think this is a great guitar for someone buying their first guitar. It may not be the best thing for someone who goes out playing in gigs though.

New updated features for 2006

Jackson Pro Soloist SL3Published on 07/24/11 at 22:34
The SL3 got a few updates around this time, and I noticed they tend to be a bit more solid than the previous years for whatever reason. The guitar has the following specs:

Alder body with a veneer for certain finishes
Neck-thru maple neck
Rosewood fretboard with 24 jumbo frets
HSS configuration
Licensed floyd rose bridge
5 way switch
sharkfin position inlays
master volume, master tone

UTILIZATION

The first thing that I notice is that the upper fret access on these neck-thru models is wonderful. You can easily reach the upper frets without any issues at all. The fretwork is pretty decent on these. The ends were nicely rounded so they don't cut your hand while moving up and down the...…

UTILIZATION

The first thing that I notice is that the upper fret access on these neck-thru models is wonderful. You can easily reach the upper frets without any issues at all. The fretwork is pretty decent on these. The ends were nicely rounded so they don't cut your hand while moving up and down the neck, but the frets could use a bit of a level. I noticed some fretting out when bending on the higher frets, and it was a bit of a pain when I started lowering the action. The floyd rose on this is decent, but I recommend replacing it with an original floyd rose if you can spare the extra few bucks. I find that they feel a lot better than the one that's installed on this.

SOUNDS

The guitar has actual Seymour Duncan pickups installed in it. The JB in the bridge can be a bit bright, but it depends on how much you like bright tones. I find that I tend to like brighter guitar sounds, so it suited my style for that shred 80s kinda sound. The SH1N in the middle is pretty useless. Even in the 2 and 4 positions, it was just so hot that it didn't really lend itself to getting a good clean tone. The SH1N in the neck is awesome for leads. In fact, it's one of my favorite single coil humbucker neck sounds. However, the clean tones are a bit dismal, so keep that in mind.

OVERALL OPINION

The real Duncans that were installed in this are a wonderful addition to the SL3. They really make this guitar come alive. I've seen these for awesome prices on Craigslist, so I recommend searching there or eBay first to find the best deal on these. I also recommend replacing the floyd, but it's your call.
