SOUND QUALITY

This device is the classic figure, thanks to its sound, divinely hot, it gives substance to the signal. The voice is terrible, the heat is present, but the definition does not suffer quite the contrary, it is a delicate work or "muscled" on demand, it is able to highlight the more subtle shades or any "crush" on its way ... The lead voice is gorgeous, turning the "big button" (gain), and the voice naturally clear, without putting the rest "in the basement" ... Magic ...

OVERALL OPINION

I am fortunate to have some compressors, and for a long time now, I am the best ... On lead vocals, coupled with an Avalon AD2055 EQ is simply monstrous, definition, air, heat, everything is magnified ... The price is well justified, even if it takes two to € 5,000 channels, but a good compressor, whether at Manley, SSL, Elysia and consort, the price ... Emulation under TC PowerCore is "enough" similar, but the "grain of his" is not there, for comparing the two in situ, there is a marked difference ... This unit still has a bright future ahead of him ....
Only sensible choice for those who can afford it, a pure joy to work with, especially an extraordinary musicality ... I say legendary ....

The Tube Tech CL1B is a single channel compressor that is all analog and is a tube based dynamic processor. It has XLR connections in the back and is a rack mountable unit that will take up two rack space units.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of the Tube Tech CL1B is pretty easy to follow and overall the compressor is quite easy to use. It has knobs for gain, ratio, release, attack, and threshold, and then has three knobs to control various things including what shows up on the meter. These are pretty basic parameters for a compressor, so if you have any idea about what you are doing with a compressor, you won't have any trouble with this unit. The manual for the Tube Tech CL1B is pretty complete, but isn't necessary when learning this compressor.

SOUND QUALITY

I really can't say enough about the warm and fullness that the Tube Tech CL1B possess. It is these qualities that make it a great compressor for vocals, but is also capable of getting good results with just about any other instrument you can think of that you would want to compress. I'm a huge fan of just about the whole line of Tube Tech compressors, the CL1B definitely fits right in with the other great sounding products that they have put out.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Tube Tech CL1B for about two years and have found it to be truly a great sounding compressor. It is extremely easy to use and doesn't require any learning curve really. Like all top end compressors, the Tube Tech CL1B costs a pretty penny, but if you are a professional looking for top notch tone, it doesn't really get too much better than this. The Tube Tech CL1B is intended for professionals so you can't really expect it to be too cheap of a product. Tube Tech has a truly impressive line of gear, and the CL1B is a prime example of the world that they are capable of.
