Great sound, poor Quality Control

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 OhmsPublished on 10/12/23 at 11:52
Hi Beyerdynamic,
You make incredible products, but you may have forgotten to enroll great acoustics quality engineers (or you may not let them do their job). This is my job actually and I can tell you design poor QC limits. Sorry to be very mean and unpleasant, I'll permit myself to give you a suggestion:
- test your product at the maximum voltage a typical studio soundcard can handle, let say 1Vrms
- measure the Rub&Buzz (the Klippel one, not a Soundcheck one please) and apply limits on it that your acoustics engineer agree on (they should accept to listen to a product with the maximum admissible Rub&Buzz in their everyday life, then it's ok)
Meanwhile, keep up the great design and...…

Meanwhile, keep up the great design and cost-value!

For future buyers: I mean they accept loudspeakers with easily hearable defects (maybe voice coil leads impacts or moving equipment rubbing somewhere). This can be heard as a little click-click-click with the bass at high listening amplitudes. And this is typical with these headphones.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 OhmsPublished on 11/11/10 at 13:29
The BeyerDynamic DT 770's are a set of high quality studio headphones. The studio that I work at has a pair of these on hand, although they aren't always used as headphones for monitoring during recording unless absolutely needed. The headphones have a closed back and reproduce a phenomenal range of frequencies from 5 Hz to 35 kHz. The DT 770's are also some of the most comfortable headphones that I've ever worn. They are really soft and fit nicely on your ears, while at the same time they cover up the sound so you won't be getting much bleed out of them. They are of course adjustable for different sizes and on the end of the cable is an 1/8" jack, although I believe when you buy a...…

They are of course adjustable for different sizes and on the end of the cable is an 1/8" jack, although I believe when you buy a new pair of these you'll also get a 1/4" adapter. As far as sound quality is concerned, the BeyerDynamic DT 770's are hard to beat, as they are some of the fullest sounding headphones that I've used to date. They cover the full spectrum of frequencies incredibly well both on paper and in practice as you can really hear the difference here. While I'm weary of mixing on any headphones, if you were going to do it, these would be the pair to do so on. They have a great low end response to go along with a nice and crisp high end and a full bodied mid range. They're awesome for checking mixes on, but since they sound so good, their usefulness definitely extends beyond this. The price of the BeyerDynamic DT 770's may scare a few people away, but this is going to be the price you pay for a set of high end studio headphones like this, and sometimes even more. If you're looking for an all in one set of high end studio headphones, the BeyerDynamic DT 770's are a great way to go...

I previously used the AKG K-271 MKII and it is day and night. Both have a very different sound, but it sounds more balanced, but against less analytical.

I use this headset for a year in my home studio mainly for the sound and as a second reference when mixing. The headphone is very comfortable and I can wear it for hours without problem.

It has no detachable connection, but seems solid. I bought it to replace my AKG K-271 MKII who was fragile.

The high-mids and treble are a bit too recessed for my taste, but the bass stand out well. So I find it much harder, if not impossible, to identify aggressive frequencies.
