Heil Sound Talk Box

The Heil Sound Talk Box is an effect pedal that allows you use your guitar and voice as a talk box. It merely has a switch to turn it on and off and a tube that you run to your mouth. It has a 1/4 inch input and output and is powered by the power supply made for it. It is not rackable, as it is a foot pedal.

UTILIZATION

The configuration isn't as easy as setting up a normal guitar effect pedal, as you must set it up with a microphone for your the talk portion of the unit, but once you get it set up it is ready to go whenever you need it and works great. There are no controls because you control the filter of the sound with your mouth. The manual is definitely complete and helpful when setting this pedal up.

SOUND QUALITY

The talk box effect on the Heil is absolutely awesome. It has a clean signal and you know how cool a talk box effect is if you have ever heard one. I have only used this pedal with guitar, but you can use it with a keyboard or bass guitar as well. The talk box sound was made famous by Peter Frampton, but there are ton of different ways to use this and countless guitars have put their own spin on the talk box and is a useful tool all across the board in terms of applications.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Heil Talk Box for about three years and it is definitely the best talk box I have ever used. It always works without problems and has a great sound quality to it. I have tried to make my own talk box, but this works way better than anything I could ever make, even though talk boxes are relatively simple to make. The price isn't that cheap, but is probably priced right considering it will last a while and is a top quality piece of equipment. I highly recommend the Heil Talk Box to all interested in picking up an effect of this kind.
