TopicPosted on 09/13/2005 at 11:47:58---SUGGESTIONS FOR BASIC HOME STUDIO---
I'M A SINGER SONGWRITER. I NEED SUGGESTIONS ON HOME STUDIO EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE.
I HAVE A 2005 DELL LAPTOP WITH FIREWIRE. ALL I (NEED) TO DO, IS RECORD AUDIO TRACKS WITH GUITAR, BASS, AND VOCALS. I HAVE A CONDENSER MIC THAT GOES TO A MIXER WITH PHANTOM POWER, AND THAT GOES DIRECTLY INTO MY COMPUTERS 'LINE IN'. I MIX THOSE AUDIO TRACKS, IMPORT TO FRUITY LOOPS, AND ADD ADDITIONAL SYNTHS, DRUMS, SOUNDS, ETC.
I'M SURE THERE ARE MORE CONVENIENT WAYS TO DO THIS, WITH BETTER SOUND QUALITY RESULTS, THAN THE ABOVE-MENTIONED WAY I DO IT.
WHAT I'M THINKING IS TO BUY AN AUDIO INTERFACE (PRESONUS OR M-AUDIO), AND SYNC IT UP WITH SOME SUGGESTED RECORDING SOFTWARE.
I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT RECORDING, SO ANY SUGGESTIONS IS GREATLY APPRECIATED, WHILE TAKING INTO CONSIDERATIONS AN EXTREMELY SMALL BUDGET.

Hi Ryker
Im a singer songwriter too.
My suggestion is to get a mixer like my Behringer UB802 EuroRack Mixer and Put it into your "line In" I also suggest a C1 StudioProjects Mic. with 1" Membran or more Then you can think about the solution like: if your guitar has a Pickup, connect it to your Mixer with a Jack-stick.
