Good amp and if you tweak it a bit---it's a great amp

Fender Blues Deluxe ReissuePublished on 06/26/20 at 18:02
I have a soul/blues band and a country/oldies band. I have many amps (Supro, Peavey, Fender, vintage gibbes, etc). When I bought it, I soon figured out it had a lousy speaker. I swapped it out for a Eminence Swamp thing---great improvement. a couple of weeks later I experimented and found out that an Ay7 in the first pre-amp position (vs the AX7) gave it a much smoother and more vintage sound. Since then, this amp has been one of my regulars go-tos. It takes effects well, it's very responsive, and it is plenty powerful enough for any gig. The only negative is the 45 pound weight and the speaker (however, I've noticed that in the newer ones, Fender has replaced the spkr they used originally…

The only negative is the 45 pound weight and the speaker (however, I've noticed that in the newer ones, Fender has replaced the spkr they used originally with an Eminence, so they probably figured out the problem. If you buy a new one, that problem is likely resolved.) I'd recommend this amp as a very good one for a gigging musician, but find one used if you can. the original speaker gave them a bad rap. If you can buy one cheaper like I did and replace the speaker (about $100) you've got a great amp. -- Gator www.rayreedandgator.com

A tip if you want a powerful ultra clear, replace the 12AX7 in V1 with a 12AY7 and there will saturate the clean channel with no volume, great for anything like me looking for a ultra clear

    SOUNDS

I play almost as good jazz or music that is suddenly in the clear mounted 12AY7, it does, the equalizer is effective, the receiver accepts the effects bein

Saturations of the drive channel are my very light taste but I'm not expert in these sounds there, however, it is a good approach or style SRV's the wind cries mary with a strat and CANCAL saturated.

on the other hand to the big rock, you'll have to go through boxes put the record is good, the amp will do what you ask

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 6 months, he served in the company of a vaporizer and a Roland JC 55

compared to a Hot Rod Deluxe, nothing, light, creamy, mild snoring but never aggressive.

Compared to the vaporizer, the sound is warmer due to the HP 12 'but it lacks roundness given by the 2 * 10'

this is a good versatile amp that will take you from jazz to rock without any problems, he will accompany you on scenes of good volume. If you need very clear sounds at high volume, you will have to enter 12AY7 for V1 that he never crunch when you do not want it but it's a good amp work

If you have any problems with the power too much playing at home, you can insert an effect with a volume control in the effects loop. Maybe you will not lightly saturation 6L6 power, but you can grow lamps preamp turning down the volume in the effects loop.

I do it again this choice without hesitation.

    Fender Tweed Blues Deluxe

I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. My first guitar lesson was when I was 10 years old. I play guitar and mandolin. Currently i'm playing in a folk/bluegrass trio, and a four-piece rock band. My musical tastes range from rock, folk, blues, jazz.

I played this amp quite a bit before settling on a tube amp that was a little less expensive. You can pick up one of these beauties at Guitar Center for $629.

This Fender Tweed Blues Deluxe is a really nice amp! I played it quite a bit before settling on another brand tube-amp, only because of price. It's got the wonderful retro-tweed cover, chicken-head knobs, and classic grille that all give it that 50's look and feel. 40 watts of pure tube tone gives you plenty of power for just about any gig. A quality 12" Eminence speaker rounds out the sound. Spring reverb, normal and bright switch, and overdrive gives a wide array of tones and styles. Fender quality, great looks, tube tone, what else can I say? A great amp!

There really isn't much to dislike about this unit. The price is a little high, but still a deal for what you get.

Construction was top-notch. Fender quality, nice tweed cover, seemed well constructed.

This is a great amp, it's got that wonderful tube tone and plenty of power. Cool rretro tweed looks, and Fender quality!

12AX7 tube amp in preamp and 2 6L6 power in
Around 40 watts (the big watts!)
high and low input jack, effects loop and footswitch.
2 channels: clear and crunch with "more drive" (additional gain) on channel 2
    reverb.
EQ common to the two channels.

    UTILIZATION

Nothing to say simple but effective, except for the metal ...

    SOUNDS

Great for rock, blues and all derivatives.
Played with a Start it allows great versatility
clean sounds punchy and precise (thank you 6L6), the crunches are nice

Big clean sound, good power short trunk
with the right Overdrive is extra
For the price around 1000 euros, no other choice to make ...
A little heavy ... but good

I looked for an amp like this for a while, that has a good clean tone to build off of that still can get a nice subtle tube "drive" at higher volumes. This amp has the ability to provide that but, like most stock amps, requires a little tinkering to get the best results. I swapped out the stock speaker for a Jensen C12K (very nice, clean and powerful speaker), Then upgraded the power tubes to JJ's and RAISED the bias (it comes biased VERY cold from the factory), and then swapped out the 12AX7 preamp tubes for two JJ's 12AT7 - this lowers the gain in the preamp stage and has the greatest impact on providing a lot more headroom.

    UTILIZATION

This amp definitely has the quality of the "fender clean" but it is darker and less spikey than the Hot Rod Deluxe. More useable in my opinion. It is designed to have the "Tweed" character in its stock form so it will breakup rather early (around 4 on the volume) if played stock.

    SOUNDS

Sounds great, very warm and clear.

    OVERALL OPINION

Overall, If you want vintage, 'boutique' tone for not a lot of change, this is where you get it. Plus side.. it's a Fender! They wrote the book on amp design back in the formative days of rock 'n roll! For me, I keep everything stock, and this amp is definitely at its best when cranked--the 'normal' channel emanates a warm, sparkly, spongy yet crunchy overdrive when maxed out, which is just the ticket for classic rock, punk, or hard blues. Playing at max (if possible) also helps wear in the speaker and tubes, so that when going back to playing at bedroom volumes, you can get even more warmth and responsiveness. The only complaints I have are that a resonance knob would be useful, as well as a half-power switch.

    Good, not Great, Amp

Fender Blues Deluxe ReissuePublished on 01/31/11 at 11:36
This is a tube amp made by Fender. It's a similar amp to their Blues Junior, but it is a much bigger and therefore louder amp. It's part of their newer Hot Rod Series (at least this reissue is). It has two 1/4" inputs, two channels (clean and drive), 40 watts of power, a solid state rectifier. It also has controls for volume, drive, EQ (bass, middle, treble), reverb, presence and master volume.

    UTILIZATION

Getting a good sound out of this is relatively easy. I tend to prefer the drive sound, even when I'm going for a cleaner tone, as the clean channel lacks some of the bite that I associate with tube amps. The clean tone definitely feels a little weak, and tinny almost. But a goo…

    UTILIZATION

Getting a good sound out of this is relatively easy. I tend to prefer the drive sound, even when I'm going for a cleaner tone, as the clean channel lacks some of the bite that I associate with tube amps. The clean tone definitely feels a little weak, and tinny almost. But a good way to deal with that is to increase the low end, roll of some of the high end on your guitar's tone knob, and keep going. The Drive tone is definitely much better in my opinion.

    SOUNDS

I like using this amp mostly with Fender Guitars. It doesn't do the hard rock thing very well, so a humbucker probably wouldn't work on it as much as a single-coil pickup would, hence the reason Strats and Teles tend to work better. I like the sound of this amp, though I think it could honestly be a little better. The clean channel is just far too pure and weak for my taste. For an amp with blues in the name, it doesn't have a lot of grit, at least not until you get to the drive channel. There is where the amp really starts to shine. I think that that channel is honestly better for clean sounds anyway, as it's got a little bit of grit to it when you hit the strings harder.

    OVERALL OPINION

I liked the dirty channels on this amp, but not so much the clean. That tends to be my consistent complaint with all the Hot Rod amps. I guess they just have different taste than I do when it comes to this stuff. It's not that expensive so it's not exactly a bank-breaking investment, but it's also not the best amp out there. I'd say save up for something a little bit better than this, and I don't usually say that about most Fender amps! This one just doesn't really have it as much as the other ones do.
