    Trash!

    Marshall MA50CPublished on 05/18/11 at 15:09
This thing sound like it should be better thrown off a cliff then in your band. This is one of those amps that you ask yourself...why Marshall. I know they want to hit a lower priced market but have some respect for yourselves. This amp by no means would ever be on any stage with me. It has a distortion tone that sounds so bad that I couldn't stand listening but for a few moments.

The crazy thing is that the clean channel actually sounds pretty good. I could actually play the clean side and get a great sounding clean. The rest of the amp is just a complete waste though.

    SOUNDS

If this was only a an amp with a clean channel and the gain structure is then build with a master volume like a JCM 800 then this would be a great amp. Charge have the price they are asking for this and you'd have a real winner. That would make too much sense though.

If you play a single coil guitar like a Fender Stratocaster or a Fender Telecaster and switching over to the clean channel you'd get a real nice chimey tone. The high end just shimmers very well.

    OVERALL OPINION

If you need a decent clean amp then you could definitely use this amp but for the price you pay for it there are plenty other amps out there that can do way more than this amp. At new these amps come in at around $750. That to me is a bit high for what you get. I have heard Peavey's that were solid state sound better than this. Heck you could get a used Marshall DSL JCM 2000 for less than a new one of these. I woulnd't recommend this amp to anyone. It doesn't have the necessary elements to the sound of it to make me want to spend the money on it.
