Jet City Amplification has announced the JCA45, a JTM45-style amp, and organises a special group sale at Indiegogo

Actually, Mike Soldano's Jet City Amplification is kind of getting around the usual way: instead of getting through a site such as Indiegogo to fund the development of a project as companies usually do, they're using it to try and make their (already fully funded) project more efficient by offering a group buy - and the goal set at $10,000 only represents a dozen amps.

The JCA 45, as its name suggests, is a take on the concept of a Marshall JTM45, with several different versions offered (prices do NOT include shipping):

    • JCA45 : the base model, hand-wired, single-channel amp with KT66 output and a tube rectifier. Price: $799.
    • JCA45 Master Volume : the JCA45 with... a master volume control. The presence control is relocated to the rear panel and master volume is installed in its place. Price is $899.
    • JCA45 HOT ROD : the JTM45 with cascaded gain, split cathode. Modded by Mark Marshall, individually. Switchable from fully hotrodded to the stock JTM 45 circuit with just one switch on the rear panel. Also includes the master volume. Price: $999.
    • JCA45 Master Volume and Loop : just as the name implies, this is the 'stock' circuit with master volume and loop added. Price is $999.
    • JCA45 Ulimate : the 'complete' and total version being offered. Known by some as the 'Jose Mod' or 'Brown Sound', this is the JTM45 on steroids. Modded by Mark Marshall, individually. Also includes the master volume AND the Mojotone Effects loop. Free commemorative tee by Eric Calvert also included. Price: $1,100.

According to Jet City, the base model will be very simple, hand-wired in China, and delivered to the company in Seattle for distribution to all the participants.

The alternate/upgraded amps will then be sent to Mark Marshall of Rising Force Amplification in the Chicago area, modded by hand to the buyer's choice of specification and then sent on to them. Mark Marshall, aka Mark Sedlock, (Marshall was chosen as a stage name back in the 90's) has been building/modding tube amplifiers & effects pedals for over 25 years. His modded amplifiers and mod tutorials are in all U.S. states & over 30 countries, and he and JCA began affiliation 2 years ago with the Brown Bear & the slightly darker Black Bear mods. Purchase will include a 90 day warranty for parts and labor.
