Mono tube microphone preamp consists of a backlit VU meter, a gain knob, a phantom power, a button Drive, a phase inverter, a-20dB pad, and a low cut.

The connector on the back has a XLR input jack for instrument 6.35, an XLR output and unbalanced output jack 6.35.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of this little amp could not be simpler. Drive button that makes all the originality of the unit lets you adjust the sound level coming out of the lamp. The VU meter is a little unclear but certainly you can adjust your output level.

In short a very simple device to use and more may well be used as direct case because of its small size.

SOUND QUALITY

As for sound quality, I am very satisfied. I used it on an electric guitar and percussion, the sound is of good quality with good reproduction of the attacks and transients. Button delivers a Drive you a pretty good heat which makes it particularly well on acoustic guitars.

Compared with the Blue Tube, I find the sound of tube pre-slightly better.

At drums and toms, the result is up as well.
Remains to be seen on the voice ...

OVERALL OPINION

I have 2 and it's been two months that I use. I find the quality / price unbeatable for the lamp.
Of course you can not compare it to another category such AVALON, but for the price it's a good start for a home studio and an interesting solution to cope with the coldness of digital.

In short, for those without a big budget and looking for sound quality "I highly recommend it (a condition to make a good mix because there can be surprises to see the time). What I like c over it is very easy to use but they are forgetting one ACPM on / off button (even when! lol)

I have a DTC Mindprint. The dye is TubePre (c'tait my goal) and really helps to get another sound. This is also not ashamed to compare the two. The DTC is more complete but what is the pure pramp, another on the two machines and I find it shameful rendering TubePre

The quality is pretty good I think.
with a good microphone and a good investment (especially a good guitarist), we have taken the beautiful acoustics.

OVERALL OPINION

I for 2 years now.
I have not tried other models (at home I prefer to compare with the same sound and the same stuff behind)

we can always do better, but the price / quality ratio is still outstanding!
I think we just improve it, including changing the lamp (without a miracle, but small streams make big rivers ...)

I can redeem a soon by putting two different lamps to each (two different colors for instruments and vocals).

06/09/2011: I changed the original lamp with a "SPAX 12AX7 Mesa Boogie."
(Test carried out with a looper, MXL 9000 microphone, babyface RME)
not a huge difference but it will be felt still in a mix.
The lower medium is more friendly, better defined.
Treble better too but it is less obvious.

Preamp tube and transistor with "metering" of the lamp, phase, low cut at 80Hz, atténuatteur. Can be used in active DI. I find it impossible at present to give him a place in my config saw mobile format "bastard" ... The conection is complete, the meter having fun, the pots plastics, and no standby (low voltage lamp ds) or off switch.

I've had almost a year. I do not know the world of lights before him.
What I like is the versatility of use and connectivity of this machine.
What I strongly dislike is the lack of switch and format.
Unbeatable value for money necessarily.
I would do so this election but if I could afford to tell me that I have another preamp tube (a real) for this purpose, and the tube was first dedicated to being a DI for bass. I'm waiting for the light to change back (or not) on this.
