Trs good stability under XP. The Digidesign website and forum are excellent. A large intertidal ds is the MBox sr it comes with ProTools LE.
The number of EOPS essentially depends on the configuration, as the max of 32 audio tracks.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it recently (1 month) but I find it perfectly fits my needs (and my budget ...). The report quality is exceptional prices (600 for the card and software ...), space and USB connectivity allow me to use it with my laptop to record the outside.

IBook G3 700Mhz with OS 9.2 with 384 RAM, 60 GB HDD FW 7200 rev / min, Pro Tools LE, mbox, table mix 14/2/2, prampli 2 channel lights, compressors, mic: Rode NT2 Sennheiser 745, msp 5, engraver and tsouintsouin tralala.

Ultra-stable drivers and put on free days by downloading digidesign.com. We get buffers sizes ranging from 256 (for decision) 1024 (for miskageux.) From memory, I have not had the problem with the installation, mac, it must be said that the digidesign hardware works fine under Apple, on the other hand I tried to make it work on my pc (AMD 1700 +, motherboard via ,...), I want that this is not a config trs advice but once it works once a plant, I limit prf that a re not working at all! I use the M-Box for virtually everything, recording orchestra, band, trs is "strong" in acoustic recording, thanks to pramps Focusrite trs that sound good. In fact it'll rev much as we need no more than two tracks for recording, the sound is really supper (at least much better than the sound of that team Honntech my PC, even when running 96khz) and I must admit that to a band directly into the computer with a small bag of hardware is better than the DAT, with pramps above, besides the concert should not last more than 120min ... (It has the advantage of DTD!). He may be accused of being occasionally unstable (for connection, for example) but when you taste the incessant crashes of Windows, we find that it's nothing. And then pro tools, I think there is nothing better in audio.

OVERALL OPINION

I have been using a can less than a year, and I think has worth for those who only audio and not using more than two tracks for recording. A choice I reselect the M-Box without hsiter, except may be for Digi 002, but it is more expensive.

P4 2.8 512 RAM + 80 + 1HDD partitioned 20 GB for the operating system and 60 GB for audio, small motherboard MSI, ASIO driver, I use it with the PT version 6.1. Super stable, crash o No need to stick three hard disks !!!!!!

Installation very easy, even when I made the bios by rgl friend that I mount the pc, because you have to follow the recommendation of digi if we want all this to be stable.

Driver super stable, it's been a year since I have and I never made any update or pro tools or asio, it works well and trs is sufficient for me.

I use 6.1 with Plug Pt waves gold bundle, tracks and AmpliTube

thanks to the latency is 0 knob trs is doing well, no difficulty in making a guitar with a rhythm all is audible (cl'essentiel) and its fate if it directly what knob RULES.
I record two tracks that simultanment normal for that mbox has 2 entries, I read 24 runs against carefree with lots of waves plug (bcp C4, tracks, L1, super tap, rverb, etc. ) and I only have 512 of ram, what will it be when I have 1GB!

OVERALL OPINION

For a little less than a year.
I love this card and Pro Tools is a software for all homes rve studio owners. I love the simplicity of handling, the quality.
What I like least are the pramps who are poor in micro, so I will add a double tube type pramp bluetubde DP and everything will be nickel.
I have not tried before, I fell in love with Ptools a friend who had the digi 001.
The report price is reasonable quality especially with the software provided with the card Ptools.

I exprience with the remake that choice plutt a 2 X!!
Mac users do not have a tre Envision, if all his stuff well orgle PC has run really well!

I use the mbox with a Power Mac G4 dual processor and 768 ram. I use it primarily for recording vocals and guitars. I chose the hardware for pro tools with which I had the opportunity to work. has seemed to be the solution intermdiaire my home studio. a good sound card with a software pro.

Very easy installation, the user manual supplied with trs is clear. The mbox is easy to configure via pro tools but I never tried to use it with other software. until the no incompatibility with the machine.

OVERALL OPINION

In short, a good buy for anyone who wants to have a good audio interface and at the same time work on a software pro (only Pro Tools LE but runs really well when same).

This is the Focusrite pre-amp that have motivated my choice, with a rack of machines external effect, it is a caret with his pre-amp. I work on an AMD Athlon 3000 + 1GB ram and cubase sx2.0.

I reach the max reading / recording on Protools. the mbox there for nothing, the pc that does everything.

Note that protools is much more expensive than a cubase or another!

OVERALL OPINION

After a few falls and six years of use in mobile or bedroom-studio, on diffrent config 'computer, I never had a problem, and from a desire to click on a record of a problem of land in some places!

I am glad trs although the price hurts me even when the base given the equivalences of the era, in any case, this pramp Converto mbox and do it well is musical dynamics. The card is from a strong and big storm I do not see how I'm russian gun down! Exprience I would do with that choice.

The only problem: the asio drivers are not 100% compatible with audio players (windows media player, winamp, ...) reads well but was interrupted audio frquents gnent the cost. I was down to 9!

The original Digidesign Mbox will still get the job done even with all of the new interfaces that Digidesign has put out in the last few years.  To me, this is just as good as some of the newer interfaces that are comparable in make up and will cost you less if you get it used (as these are no longer being made).  This audio interface will allow you to run any version of Pro Tools LE and runs via USB to your computer.  It has the capabilities to record two tracks at once as it has two microphone preamps with both XLR and 1/4 inch connections.  It has phantom power as well as RCA connections and an output on both the front and the back for headphones.  It also has 1/4 inch outputs so you can send this to monitors and also has SPDIF capabilities (which I haven't used). 


UTILIZATION

Setting up the Digidesign Mbox is really easy and will only take a few minutes.  You can only use this interface with Pro Tools LE, but I'm assuming that if you are looking into a Digidesign interface that you are doing so for the reason that you can indeed use it with Pro Tools.  Simply plug in this interface via USB to your computer and it will guide you into how to get everything going.  It is very easy and will only take a little bit of time to get everything going.  Like I said before, you can only record two tracks at once but that is usually enough for home studio owners looking to just get down some ideas or do some basic recording.  I don't get too much latency with this, but that really depends on your machine.

Everything about the Digidesign Mbox is really straight forward and even if you don't have experience with Pro Tools or audio interfaces, the Mbox makes it as easy as possible to learn and figure it out.  The Pro Tools software is the best feature about getting the Mbox as it allows you to have the same software used by the pros and gives you the ability to switch between your home LE rig and HD systems in professional studios if you so chose to.  The manual for the Digidesign Mbox is put together pretty well and will definitely outline everything you'd need to know, but it isn't necessary if you don't have one.

OVERALL OPINION

I first used the Digidesign Mbox a number of years ago and don't use it anymore because I have another Digidesign audio interface that I use, but this will still get the job doing for doing basic recording or for simply running Pro Tools.  While the preamps really don't sound all that great, but if you are doing demos or just getting down some ideas which is what I would imagine most people are using this for, it is fine.  The best part is that you can get this fairly cheap now that it is an older model and you can run Pro Tools on the cheap!

The feature are unsurpassed for the price: SPDIf I/O, USB, 48v phantom. They should upgrade the USB to USB 2.0 capability though. Integrates well with Sampletank's 4.4 GIG wav sound Library! Unlimited potential

OVERALL OPINION

The strongest point about the Mbox is its price. Real cheap but must have in any home studio.

All home studios should have an Mbox. I have had the oppertunity to upgrade to the digi002 but why? I can connect it to my laptop, always grinding. The Mbox has dual Mac/PC compltibality. I produce my beats on a PC burn to 700MB disk, take to a studio with Mac and upload without a problem, that's what's it's about.

No midi, which is fine with me cause I'm an audio freak... to hell with midi! This has also been assessed with the Mbox 2, but if you're cheap and want to buy the original to save money you are gonna have to invest in a seperate midi interface. I'd look into Motu. My biggest complaint is it takes the whole length of your recording/project to export (example if you have a 5 minute song, it will take 5 minutes to export... a HASSLE if you're really impatient like myself). Also you only get a free 30 day trial for MP3 importing/exporting which is an utter JOKE IMO, but hey...

It can be a hassle at first, but if you're familiar with DAW and DA-Sequencers you should pick up on it fast. They all do the same exact thing just a little bit differently, these damned manufacturers LOVE to be special. I picked it up on my own just by foolin around a couple days, if necessary there is always the instruction booklet man!

An industry standard, it really gets no better. The Focusrite preamps could use a lil tweaking, other than that I have no complaints other than my ole mic is the REAL problem.

I can't say I love it, but I like to use it. Nowadays I'm just using it for recording my samples to my computer then I work with them in other software programs. I used to use it for major recording which I now do at a different setting. But this cuts the mustard for my needs, it's GREAT for mixing and adding efx. 400 bucks for a interface AND a industry standard top of the line program, I really can't complain.
