    GETTING STARTED

no worries, ever not be simpler ...

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for years, in fact, since its creation, I do not even know what year, I also use a fast track M-Audio that I did run on pro-tools, and I tested several other models on multiple systems.
The TonePort is an ideal card for Laying out guitar / vocals, I always enjoyed the multitude of sounds, even if we can quickly sink into the bidding, finally, I use most often with minimal effects, I deal my later with his hearing or pro-tools.
Since there was new version, and try to get them, they are still interesting.
With experience, this choice I would do without hesitation, I think I even buy the TonePort UX2, just for extra ports

    - What characteristics have motivated your choice?
I was looking for an affordable audio interface, with a microphone, a guitar input and line input, while the USB 2.0, simple to implement and if possible with a software bundle. I demanded at least 24bits/48kHz.

    - For what purpose?
Mobile and home studio, to produce parts acoustic and electric guitar, saxophone and vocals (but not all at once ...)

    - What is your config (Motherboard / CPU / Ram / Hard ,...)?

    80GB

    - Which instruments and systems (console, preamp, DTD ...) do you use the connection and how?

Fender Stratocaster, Epiphone AJ-15E, Korg Wavestation, Samick Digital Piano, Midi interface Edirol UM-2, awaiting a Shure BETA58.

I put 8 / 10 because the UX1 has no microphone input 48v power supply, unlike the UX2. There was in my plans to acquire a B-2 Pro, for once, it missed at least put a little more to buy some sort of device to get the damn power supply 48v.

    UTILIZATION

    - The installation is done it without problems?
    No worries installation.
It must still take some precautions to avoid deadlock possible:
Unplug all USB devices present on the PC (except the keyboard and mouse; o))
Exit all programs running in the background (antivirus, etc ...)
Install the GearBox (line6) BEFORE connecting the beast.

    - Have you experienced any incompatibilities?
No imcompatibilité. And if there had been, the GearBox application has a conflict detector: a kind of benchmark of the machine that tests all (memory, CPU, disk, etc.)

    - The general configuration is easy?
Configuration is done alone. A real pleasure! Efficient and fast.

    - The manual is clear and sufficient?
What manual? Apart from a small box of 10cm * 10cm saying it must be installed before the TonePort GearBox. There are several help files. Too bad they are not printed. But good for the price, you can not have it all.

    So it deserves a 10/10.

    GETTING STARTED

    - The drivers are stable?
In theory yes. Used for a full day, no worries.

    - Are they often updated?
GearBox has a tool for automatic updating of firmware TonePort. Simplicity itself.
You click on the Update button and then you wait to click OK, disconnect and reconnect the TonePort. It could not be simpler. At first the drivers are regularly updated, if need be a.

    - What software do you use most often?
    Cubase SX 2.1
The TonePort Abelton comes with Live Lite 4, I'll take a look, and will update my opinion.

    - What you get lag?
    2 milliseconds miserable

    - How many tracks you get to record / playback simultaneously?
2 tracks (mono) Simultaneous recording. Which is a shame since we use the USB 2.0, which, I believe, can handle 4 simultaneous mono tracks.
GearBox offers several routing: + instrument mic, mic, instrument, stereo line, line1 + line2, I may be forgetting ... But in any case there are only two simultaneous inputs.

9 / 10: A little disappointed not to save recorded four simultaneously. It can be used ...

    OVERALL OPINION

    - How long have you use it?
    Since two days.
    - What is so special that you like most and least?
    - No power supply 48v
    - Only two simultaneous tracks
    - There are not enough presets (line 6 in offers for sale (still in GearBox)!
    It's a bit inflated)

+ The price: For this price it still has good hardware, even if not very heavy little box do not put forward the sound quality.
+ The deign and large buffers. The case is very stable.
+ The modeling preamps are very good quality and really changes the sound made
+ The amp models and effects are good too, it's nice to find new sounds and presence.

    - Have you tried many other models before buying it?
I had a Terratec DMX6Fire that conflicted with my new config. I used Amplitube LE, which sounded fine with the Terratec. But the UX1 is much better.

    - How would you rate the quality / price?
This was not theft, it's a fact! € 135 for the UX1 is reasonable and affordable.
Line6 it's still a reputation for its models, and did not again in the court of audio interfaces (POD Guitar Tracker), their new products are up to.

    - With experience, you do again this choice?
Only regret is missing the power supply 48v sacrament! An error on my part, I misread the spécicifactions. Is it justified to spend the UX2? Maybe ... but you must add € 80. See for yourself. I keep my UX1!

    OVERALL OPINION

I do not really back but since I use it in repeats and on stage to voice my opinion can perhaps be used:

I was a little disappointed with the color proposed by the preamp. They are too similar for my taste, but we must take into account that I use a dynamic mic (Audix OM7) less elaborate and a static. The effects are subtle without being used. We can not change the preset by noon (pedal) .. gearbox is not. It includes only the control change, not the program change, so if you want to change the preset, he must fully describe the new setting to use (what preamp, gain, EQ each, each effect ...) what ' any MIDI pedal does (ten control change is already huge, is it takes about twenty ...) The only solution would be to use an interpreter PM: something that transforms the program change in control change in gearbox 20. ... I am currently testing it, I do not know yet if it works.

The thing that I really love is the surprise on this TonePort: it does not mug feedback. It's a mystery to me. I tried everything before: EQ, no compressor, micro special, no reverb, even the shark from behringer (not cool) ... in vain! every time I was at the extreme limit of the feedback. If I stayed at the microphone without singing more than 3 seconds, it whistled.

Now, I put a large compressor, a distortion of my voice, the cleat of delay, reverb, and I still have the headroom! I suspect the noise gate to be phenomenal, but after all, I do not care, it works! Now when basseux grattiste and play like the deaf, I can get on and I put out their ears!

    UTILIZATION

The manual is clear ... especially trs install GearBox BEFORE connecting the camera to the PC. This is important if I prcise the instalation is not no problem.
Otherwise everything is easy to install, no problem this level, in addition to my PC is old and not efficient (Athlon 1700 and 512MB of RAM). The software runs without a problem and therefore the use of apareil also ...

Everything is done from the software which is an exemplary simplicity of use and intuitive trs. We understand how quickly trs a laborer works and how his own sound.
It is the visual interface of the software trs well organized and a nice view too (lol).

    GETTING STARTED

For now I never had problem of drivers, they are super stable on my PC. In addition it is possible to Tlcharger free updates of GearBox (which I recall is the software that allows all operations) on the Line6 site.

It is compatible with sonar, cubase, music studio, and finally you will understand with squenceurs best known (at least those are the ones I use it and no problem with either).

    OVERALL OPINION

I possde for over a year as an interface for electric guitar and I used bcp to produce my music. The recording quality is very well but need to know its squenceur configure this interface to take full advantage of its capabilities. Especially connects to the PC, I is that plugging my guitar directly into the jack on the Toneport and start the squenceur ... very practical since simulations amp and cabinets are trs good, the effects also ...
Notice that the delays are beautiful and almost perfect, the noise gate and trs performance against by wah I can not say anything because I have not had the opportunity to test it (for lack of pdalier controller) .
The simulations are convincing and there are a range of choices for all Sufi style of music ...

In my case I take solos for the simulation of the Mesa / Boogie Dual Rectifier + simulation of the Tube Screamer to boost, and my friends ... that is happiness ... I add a lightweight pa Miiiaaaaaam delay it ...! What a treat!!

This interface produces his own songs with good quality and comes with DJ effects ... And the price is derrisoire!!
Frankly I do not regret to have bought but not forget that this interface does Designed specially for guitar and bass (with possibility to conect a microphone for voice), so do not ask him not do anything but what it does for Conua. Otherwise nothing to say, is made from my own making have grown in quality records far more crdibles to a model or an example dmo.

    Most:
    Easy connections
Design fun (even if we do not care royally)

    The -:
Line 6 could have provided one or two jack adapters, they would have not cost more
T have FireWire version apprciable (and apprcie)
It would be cool to be able t use the wheel mouse for example increase the volume knobs to select an effect or navigate menus

    UTILIZATION

The topic for the (s?) Toneport.

    First:
Whoever says there is not Russia not his. The case comes with two CDs, on which it is written in bold characters in size 48 "INSTALL THIS FIRST BEFORE CONNECTING YOUR [...] HARDWARE" on the first and "" INSTALL THIS [... ] AFTER "... Line6 could hardly do better ...
Those who say that APRS has nr not work, because they have any branch can only APRS rflchir they went and read the manual, the people have that even blame them ...

    Deuxio:
APRS installation, thought to date drivers and software ...

Good once everything is installed you can launch GearBox, a small interface to model his sound ...
The interface is as clear as if you had the stuff to you, knob, pedals, amp, cabinet, and while there are no worries RULES.
It is even indicate what the effect of a particular effect on rglage said.

There are roughly thirty merdo rglages "factories" but it is quite possible to save his own configurations, with a TAG INTERESTED Systm (by style, by type of effect, etc. .. .)

    Finally, some interesting gadgets:
The possibility of prcharger SETTING THE guitarists "known" through the portal Line6.
    Prsence a tuner.
Prsence a "Player" which allows for the loop, and acts to mitigate the sound of the guitars (or at least their frquences)
Pace box and not configurable dgueu

Line6 is available "Packs" allowing the agrmenter bte with new sounds ... The prices are quite exorbitant (a third of the bundle of UX1, it is not top issue proportions Line 6) ...

    Most:
    Ease of handling
Gearbox Interface enjoyable, not at all "gas factory", intuitive
    The -:
The installation for those who are really not friends with the niceties of USB peripherals
Too bad updates from drivers / software are not automatically
    The price of the add-ons

    GETTING STARTED

Latency level, personal, I do not perois so I think it's good to this point of view

The sound is of good quality trs with all the subjective implications.
There are modlisations clbres amp (Mesa, Fender Tweed, Marshall JCM, Orange, etc.), on which modlisations Line6 has built its empire and reputable.
There are also modlisations effects (Rat, TS, Octave, etc.). Some will find them in bad quality and there prfreront the classic pedals.
Care must be taken not to plug the beast of a non self-powered hub and it will leave him almost intgralit resources pc (so exit to the encoding of video at the same time, or software a little greedy).

Personally, it happens that his "crack" a little, but that does not include registration.

    Most:
    Near-zero latency
The Line6 modlisations if you like

    The -:
Obviously the configuration is advising underestimate the manufacturer
The Line6 modlisations if you do not like

    OVERALL OPINION

I possde n'tant for some months and not a fan of Line6 modlisations I'll sell it ...
It is obvious that the price for the UX1 is excellent but a little light for the big ambitious home studio.

The UX1 is excellent, certainly, but he'll have to find its own sound, settings, make his small kitchen.
The handling is quick, easy and intuitive for the guitarist.
The UX1 seems perfect to record some songs composed or trs with an honorable quality.
Finally, the interface / GearBox software offers full small gadget with which one can have fun for a while.

We regret that the installation is sometimes laborious and requires some prcautions.

The possibilities are almost unlimited, therefore, for a very reasonable budget.
If you want to ttonner in the home studio, here is a small safe peripherals except modlisations: we like it or not.

    UTILIZATION

    - Installation is it without problem?
You must install the installation CD before connecting the Gearbox UX1, as described on the cover in large discs. For my part I have to go to the sute of Line 6 Tlcharger the new version of Gearbox, which is compatible with Vista 32 bits. The following are all dmarches trs simple.

    - Have you experienced any incompatibility?
No, if not the download version of Vista on the Line 6 website.

    - The configuration gnrale is easy?
Once the installation begins there is that to be guided to finally connect the UX1. After the installation completes, open the "Monkey", a program that provides information via the Internet if updates are available depending on your configuration to ensure optimum compatibility. Once this step completes, you can finally plug in a guitar / bass / microphone singing. After five minutes were almost all entered. Unless you know nothing about guitar effects, it has the feel of its own hardware to be given as the clarity of the interface of Gearbox.

    - The manual is clear and sufficient? ...
It is in English but that did not pos problem. Submitted it as a PDF file which you can click on the summary DIFFERENT chapters to arrive directly what is desired. dfile not need to do all the pages is trs apprciable if English put you off.

    GETTING STARTED

    - The drivers are stable?
    Apparently yes.

    - Are they often put day?
    I think so.

    - What software do you use most often?
Cool Edit Pro 2 and Adobe Audio 3. Note that software, RiffWorks, which seems to serve as registration is via the Monkey Tlcharger of Gearbox.

    - What you get lag?
I do not see any dcalage between the note played and the note heard is stunning!

    - How many tracks you get record / playback simultanment? ...
I do not know if we can record a bass or guitar and a microphone with XLR at the same time.

    OVERALL OPINION

    - How long have you use it?
    Few days.

    - What is the particular feature you like best and least?
I love its simplicity of operation (many pre-rglages to play right away) and its price but the big advantage of this device is the quality of sound that I can have. I get a death metal distortion of an excellent quality without even having to pay for Tlcharger The elements optional (new virtual amps for example). In addition, we can Tlcharger sounds of famous guitarists through the Gearbox which is not nothing! I could get the sound of Dimebag or Kerry King on some of their songs.
However, I feel that bass players and singers are less fortunate because the UX1 is primarily for players but I could be wrong because I used the UX1 for guitar.

    - Have you tried many other models before acqurir?
I wanted to buy the beginners Tone Port GX but my dealer gave me a discount on trsgnreux UX1. I will also record the bass and singing trs ending for the UX1 seemed so suited.

    - How do you report qualitprix?
Excellent to have a good sound trs low cost.

    - With the exprience, you do again this choice? ...
Yes. For the price, simplicity and quality.

The Toneport UX1 I was immediately over. Since I play the bass guitar and I sing from time to time, that's exactly what I needed.
I used to record my compositions, and I use a Dell Studio 15 Laptop (3GB RAM, 250GB HDD)

Installation could not be simpler and faster. All goes well, if you follow the instructions. I had no problem on that side.
I have not met any inconsistencies.

    GETTING STARTED

The software is j'utilisent Gearbox and Reaper (for recording).
Gearbox Software is provided with the Toneport, the interface is simple and easy, and the amp models it offers are numerous and of good quality.

It is possible to achieve zero latency quasimment, but I do not recommend it because it causes cracking which may shift all of your recording.
So I prefer to set the latency up to get a quality recording, without cuts. (Apparently, this problem is common with the Toneport ...)

I can record a track at a time, and it suits me well.
With Reaper, it seems that the number of tracks that I can read simultaneously is infinite!

I do not use Ableton Live Lite (recording software included with the UX1), because I find the possibilities relatively small (4 tracks max), and the interface more complicated than Reaper.
So I dropped the software, which did not really attractive ...

    OVERALL OPINION

I bought my Line 6 Toneport UX1 last December, so I'm using it for 3 / 4 months and I am delighted. It allows us to put in all that new music Spasse by the head, quickly and easily.

    For me, the positives are:
    -The ease of use
-The variety of simulations proposed by Gearbox
-The final rendering of the compositions, reminiscent of home studio recordings pro (if one takes so much ^ ^)
-PRICE! The TonePort is really a gold mine => quality / price ratio hardly beatable

    Cons:
-The plastic case provides a rather "cheap", and is quite cumbersome. (But hey, it's a matter of taste)
-Ableton Live Lite disappointed me. what can be done with really small, and the interface could be simpler.
I had not tried other models before purchasing the Toneport UX1, but I do not regret my purchase.
I relied on advice I read, and video demo ... and I was blown away by the possibilities it offers.

YES, I would do this choice! and I recommend it to anyone looking to record high quality components, without breaking the bank.
