I purchased this unit lightly used from eBay, for $180 (US.)



I think the US-224 is a great beginner's audio interface. My install was a breeze, I had the unit running in 10 minutes. The manual is straightforward and accurate. The unit is very pleasant to look at, complimenting my small apartment studio's looks.


I wish the XLR inputs had phantom power, like the US-122 does. The included software (Cubasis VST) is limited, but a decent program.

The construction seems durable, this unit is definitely suited for light traveling..a perfect companion for a laptop user to record (from either a stero Mic setup or from a board.)

This is a great unit, very attractive and feature-filled for the price. However, after doing some post-purchase research, I probably would have waited to purchase the US-428, the expanded version of this interface. Overall, I reccomend purchasing one if you are new to computer recording, and want to get material into your computer as soon as possible. A-/B+

Full audio and MIDI, Cubase SX2 with good performance and mixer O2R.

UTILIZATION

Problem of click numrique, rsolu augmantant in the audio buffer size Danxi Cubase.
The management of the 16 bit driver no longer appears in the US-224 but it accommodates trs cubase if you select a 16-bit chantillonage.

GETTING STARTED

I use Cubase SX2 which APRS test with sine trs behaves well if not Exceeds - 3 dB between Cubase. I get a latency of 11 ms.

OVERALL OPINION

I test with Cubase SX 2 in OSX.2.6
I look stable but APRS test, between SP-DIF does not record above - 3 dB (in cubase) because the risk of saturation. These tests t effectus frquences to 100 Hz, 1 KHz, 10 KHz.
Rsultats identical using the analog inputs.
Important: rgler the audio buffer size in cubase a value of at least 1024 if not appearance numrique click (using the SP-DIF between.

Very well to begin the home-studio. The prémps FATURE are good, control surface directly recognized by Cubase. A phantom power supply was not a luxury. Digital input greatly appreciated.

Problems with VIA chipset I managed to solve with the new drivers (see www.viaarena.com and www.tascam.com).

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for two years and I separated because I need more I / O, but I hope not regret it because I had a good time with. It was my first sound card. Value for the right price because it has a control surface. TASCAM is a product so safe bet.
