MOTU Symphonic Instrument is very easy to understand and use, you wont be confused or even need to look at tutorials online nor will you need a manual to operate this vst plug in. The price of this plug in is where I think they it doesn’t sit right with me, I think it is overpriced for the quality that it provides. It does have some great patches and presets but I think East West is better in my opinion. Also, MOTU Symphonic Instrument isn’t very appealing to me just going off the look of it. The layout and interface of it really irritates me and doesn’t spark my creativity. I am a visual guy, and I love seeing the plug ins as im using them, I like the software MOTU Symphonic Instrument but I hate the interface of it. I hope they change that in the near future.


SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Ran this on a quad core pc with plenty ram so it ran find and I have never had an issue with it. I do not use this vst much anymore. I cant even really remember the last time that I used it because East West is so much better. This is a decent software but its overpriced and if you use East West you will see how much you are missing.


OVERALL OPINION

I have used this many times over the years, but I don’t use it anymore and probably never will again. Its not bad and it’s a big file when loading it into your computer. I recently purchased a new studio computer and didn’t even waste my time loading this onto it because I know I wont use it at all. it’s a good vst, but its over priced and East West is so much better for me to use and the interface is so much better.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for many years. I love the convolution reverbs that made it possible to obtain a relatively natural, which can mislead in a mix.

I had never used other sound banks and for the moment, saw the value, I do not intend to change!

No need for manual, the plug is fairly simple to install.

I just had a problem with the latest version of Logic Pro (9.1.3) where it did not validate the plug but still usable with, as a message on every boot, the plug is not validated.

I used it 4 or 5 years before moving to EastWest.
This is a great plug too expensive to start.
Now, if your budget allows, skip all EASTWEST

Installing a bit laborious for the first version I had but the update (stand alone) was much easier to install.
Use with Digital Performer, without any problems.
The manual is almost useless and very well thought out ergonomics.

At the time of purchase, I used a MacBook Pro which did not exploit the full app. Despite this, I was able to enjoy myself using a lot of track, but by placing a cross on the convolution reverb.

OVERALL OPINION

I have this app for several years, however, I do not use it regularly, for lack of need.

I especially like the convolution reverb (on my brand new iMac), The choirs of children, pizz, and especially the piano and guitar, really bleuffant for these two instruments.

The weak point of this software, it is the installation process. I am in Windows XP SP3. The software on the CD is version 1.1.3.
First obstacle: the launch Cubase SX 3 is blocked by loading the plug-in MSI. After reading forum, it appears that there is a conflict between MSI and Internet Explorer 8! After uninstalling Internet Explorer 8, Cubase starts normally.
Second obstacle: version 1.1.3 released sound bad and jerky and crashes. After a day trying to fix the latency, etc. I read on a forum that in fact the version 1.1.3 is full of bugs and it is better to switch back to version 1.1.2 (downloadable after registration site motu). So I installed the 1.1.2 version, and there, the miracle, everything works perfectly!
One can also regret that the installation of the samples or in part manually (just copy-pre-DVD on your hard drive!).
In short, if you have read, everything will be fine, others are planning two days of hassle ... Have paid € 249 for this mess, I did not like at all!

I'm running Windows XP SP3 with QuadCore Q6600 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM, Sound Card Creative Labs X-Fi Elite Pro with Cubase SX3. After installation of version 1.1.2 (see implementation ...), everything works wonderfully. I sleep and have a song with two parallel sessions in Cubase, and I have suffered no limitation. The sound is very realistic and can be surrounded in an atmosphere of symphony orchestra. Each instrument can have its own audio track in cubase (might regret that this is not the default) to set a specific effect on such an instrument.
Operation is very easy for anyone familiar with the operation of cubase and virtual instruments. The sound banks are easily accessible. Rendering speed is excellent for playing with sensitivity instruments.
For a live game, the tracks each use a 4x16 MIDI channel according to the various MIDI input of the PC and the channel number.
Finally, a customization of certain parameters of the ADSR envelope, filter functions and modulation to customize the rendering of instruments.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for more than one week, and once the big hassle of the installation, forgive quickly through the rendering quality and ease of daily use.
In terms of price / quality ratio, compared to a hardware synthesizer, it is very good, on the other hand, installation problems could regret having paid for such a hassle!

Installation
No major concern, except that the DXi is recognized only after Reinstalling t, for some reason ... The file is a bit slow 8GB transferring, but it's really unbearable.

Compatibility

Yes, trs, and it is one of the positives of this software from others. I've worked with before Edirol Orchestra, whose interface, though neat, is really fucking bad, and I tried EastWest products whose ownership is more complicated.

I used a lot Edirol Orchestral, and I quickly tried Symphonic Orchestra Gold Edition EastWest.

How do you report qualitprix?
Unbeatable. Its only direct competitor at this level would Symphonic Orchestra Silver Edition, especially with the XP version that just came out. The Gold version is a different level, but less rich in terms of available instruments.
